Luffy forgot where he was, that he was on a battlefield. He had his brother who always looked out for him. He won't make that mistake again. ------------------ Sabo has no intention of ever going through that again. The awakening concept is really interesting. It brings many possibilities to the Devil Fruit. Even using his awakening, Doffy can barely able to keep up with Luffy G4

Gear 4th is basically Luffy using full body armament Haki, like what Vergo and Pika use. But since you're covering too much when using that technique It can drain you easily. That is why even top fighters only choose to cover some of their body for attack and defense.

When the Awakening stuff was revealed i was so hyped and made a lot of theories. Like imagine Buggy's DF awakened. He could just split anything that sorrounds him, the ocean, people, etc. Being able to split himself to a molecular level and being unnoticeable even by those with Obervation Haki (Yes, I was high that day) Also I love how poetic Oda can get. That Leo Bazooka that sent Doffy flying into that mountain, he was in the same T-pose as when he was "crucified" as a child.

You finally reached the part where they show an awakened devil fruit and explain it. Yes, any devil fruit can awaken. Paramecia-types usually effect the surrounding area, and can manipulate things other than their body. Logia and Zoan are a different story. Great reaction as always Mark! 😊

Oda's writing is bananas. Remember when crocodile turns the ground into sand back in alabasta? Maybe Croc could awaken his devil fruit all the way back then as well!

The unfortunate thing is that it has a range. You can't just permanently turn things into something. As you can see in the episode, when he stops touching the ground, it returns to not being strings. So Jozu would be able to temp make diamonds.

You're spot on about how a paramecia awakens. We only really know about how it works when they have the properties of a specific material though, I'm not sure what would happen for some of the weirder paramecia fruits. I guess Buggy could cut out chunks of the ground and send them flying around, absolutely no idea what someone like Foxy would do lol... For zoans it seems like they get a new stronger form, there's a fan theory that monster Chopper is basically what his awakened form would be. But zoans also seem to have their own will, for example we know that they can bring inanimate objects to life. So this isnt confirmed but I think the impel down guards were originally human, but when they awakened the will of the fruit kind of took over and that's why they never talk or anything. For logias my theory is that awakening might make the effects permanent, like how Akainu and Aokiji seem to have permanently screwed up the environment on punk hazard. Which would mean they're both awakened, and probably a lot of other bigshots are too but that's mostly just speculation.

Though it’s not something that I know for sure, I like to think that logia awaken their fruits for the sole purpose of protecting their drip 😂 we’ve seen lots of moments when a logia has been attacked and their clothes turns into whatever logia they are 😂

Another thing to remember is Luffy's battle IQ is like 200. Early on he makes some less than wise choices, but he learns in every fight. We've seen it happen again and again, things he learned from a previous fight, he'll carry those over and improve them. --------------------- How do they steal devil fruits? At this point, you've only seen the awakened devil fruits that you mentioned, The animal guards at impel down - Zoan fruits - and Doflamingo, who is a paramecia. I can't find any confirmation that the jailer beasts started out as human or if they were already animals, so we don't know anything else beyond what we've been told, that they are awakened or failed awakened zoans. Awakening doesn't happen to just anybody, even if they know their devil fruits really well. Most people will not awaken their devil fruits.

Since you arent caught up I would say this is more of a "Trivia" information about Demon Guards. . . . . . . . . . . . They got overtaken by theire Zoen fruits and are stuck in half-half transformation with half-half intelect.

I dont think its arguable that Cabbage is the colloseum fighter Oda spent the most time building a relationship with Luffy; even in the the run up the plateu they both repeatedly snipe at the other specifically in a frenemy like manner or Oda has Luffy note "Cavendish and the rest." Luffy trusting Cabbage with Robin and everyones life is the crescendo of that from them fighting Chinjao together, clashing after Block C, teaming up on horseback; he has total faith in his strength. And ill note that if you go back and look when Luffy runs up Barto's stair case and Cavendish stays behind to avenge his horse Farul; Luffy shouts to him as at that point he totally expects Cavendish to travel up to Doflamingo with him and Law which means he doesnt think he'd burden him. Also Cavendish's only injury up until this episode is self inflicted when he stopped Hakuba btw which is impresive imo; and he blitzed from sleep to save them- the move be uses in the manga is a single block, not a repeated parry like in this episode btw. Precious metal axe; he just intercepts them with the sword horizontal/on a dash, as the string bullets are in a single row.

Dol Flamingo is just one of those people who want to watch the world burn. He suffered from being cast out of heaven, so every one else must suffer too. Think about this from DF’s perspective. Some nameless rookies knocks of Crocodile, then stirs up trouble in Marineford. You think you have him figured out. Then 2 years later he shows up out of the blue and wipes out your SAD operation, then he shows up on your territory and destroys everything you have spent the last ten years building including crushing your crew, all in less than a day. DF was large and in charge when he got up this morning. He’s got to be feeling some kind of way about Straw Hat now. Bounce-man may even be more powerful than Ussop Rubber Band!

Personally i think if luffy had something like gear 4 in the war, admirals wouldn't have taken him lightly as they did. Means he would have died :")

Love how Cavendish keeps telling Law things he knows this last episode, never fails to make me laugh. 😆 Cavendish: "They said when blood starts flowing, your arm will heal." Law: "I know. I'm a Doctor." (...) Cavendish: "You guys will be the object of everyone's attention if you defeat Doflamingo here." Law: "I'm well aware that's what will happen." - Translation: "Dude. I KNOW. I warned Mugiwara-ya about that exact thing 44 episodes ago in episode 682."

Gear fourth reactions are so fun! No one expects anything like that, that's just so random and weird, but he's like a steel ball and steel balls have a lot more rebound than rubber balls. One piece physics can be questionable but once in awhile he comes up with something accurate-ish. Trebol being a paramecia was a surprise, just about everyone was sure he was a logia, there was no reason to believe otherwise. But he's like Mr. 3, a special paramecia. Doflamingo just needed someone to stroke his ego the right way to get him to be who he is today. It is hard to tell who was manipulating who, but I think perhaps at best it was a mutual manipulation. Trebol was looking for someone whose coattails he could ride to the top and Doflamingo was looking for someone to justify his sense of self-importance.

Luffy is great 😊 also I love how Law’s all like “I dragged him into this, if he dies I will too”… he’s such an older brother 😂 I love seeing glimpses of how fond of Luffy he is! He just has to be a total tsun-bun about it 😂 (tsun-bun is me combining the words tsundere and cinnamon bun😂) Really, I could go on for hours on how much I love their dynamic/relationship! Their relationship comes across as more “actually siblings” than Luffys relationship with Ace/Sabo who comes across as slightly hero-worshiping in their devotion to Luffy… which I don’t mind but I adore the more “realistic” vibe Law and Luffy have when interacting ❤

Was not expecting a three way episode but I'm here for it!! =D (Lemme quickly throw out my suggestion for 732 + 733 to be together then, seeing as they might no longer end up by default with the change of even/uneven number groups.) We have such a good example here of the difference of how Luffy and Doflamingo treat those close to them since you were talking about Doflamingos feelings about his family. Mingo ultimately abandoned Trebol to his fate in the fire, saving himself whereas Luffy not only made sure to rescue Law but even had the presence of mind to grab his arm AND sword as well. Everyone in the family was ready to die for their Young Master and Doflamingo was willing to exchange their lives for his benefit if he has to, even if he would rather not have to. For Luffy, that's not an option. I mean, not that there was ever any doubt about the kind of person Doflamingo is. XD But then you also get his speech about the Bird Cage timer, on what's going to happen when and as you said, you have to wonder if he's done this enough to just know these things by heart at this point. Let's hope he was just smart enough to conclude these things. We know he is, we got yet an other taste of it as he was breaking down Luffy's new abilities. Speaking of which: welcome to Gear Fourth! =D Love that you thought about side effects too; that's easily forgotten in all the excitement. In that sense, the alliance between Luffy and Law is quite balanced; both being able to surpass their limitations to push what they can do with their fruits at a cost to themselves.
