I outline the cleat in white also and then swap out. The biggest issue is always the toe in/toe out. Funny, I get the right shoe dialed in on the install but never the left! I'll ride the neighborhood carrying a tool and adjust. Usually get it done in a ride or two at most. But I do hate this process and will let cleats go longer to avoid it!

The problem is real but you are exaggerating. Put on the new cleats, ride for few miles, adjust and ride for few more miles. After two three tries. It should be good. Only takes 1 hour.

squirt trash lube, the biggest scam you can buy. it never dries out and stays always sticky. I did everything according to instruction and I even waited 3 days to let it dry BUT it did not. After just one ride on normal road condition my entire drive train was dirty and I needed to clean everything again. I threw this shit away and tried out hotwax. Completely different and actual wax that dries and stays clean.

I also used the regular oil based wet lube in the past. It really ate up chains and cassettes - and I just thought it was normal wear. Of course it was very grimy too. So I went to Rock N Roll Gold. Much better! Chain and cassette was always sparkling clean and I got twice the mileage than previously. Then I started doing deep solvent cleans every so often and noticed I was getting a lot of black junk out of the inside of my chain. Normal? I let it settle and put a magnet to it. It was nearly all magnetic! That was my chain and cassette!!! Went to Silca hot melt alternating with their drip wax. Usually hot melt at ~200 miles, but go up to 500 with a few applications of drip wax in between. Then I do a boiling water rinse. I don't find any magnetic residue after this wash. I have not worn out any chains yet with wax. That first ride after a fresh hot melt wax - OMG!

I'm honestly confused about the whole carb thing. I used to try to avoid carbs, but now I eat quite a bit before and during my rides. I think the whole keto thing started because it was a way to lose weight, but now people have begun to think of carbs as evil. There's a lot of people who push keto and high carbs, but not that many people who are pushing a balanced diet. Do you know if you're consuming a lot of carbs during a ride and you're in good shape, is there any downside to carbs? I have noticed a lot of the really big keto pushes have started to soften their stance on the issue.. probably a good thing, there are way to many keto zealots imho.

If you are wondering how long your chain would last on Silca, compared to Squirt, you can check the independent test results from Zero Friction cycling. Based on his tests, its not even close - you can expect more longevety from Silca, especially for hotmelt wax vs drip on.

true, and depends on chain(or not?). Ive been using Smoove with various chains, all year round. With every other chain, mileage is soso. with Sram XX1 chain, infinite, seems like...(10000km+)

I used squirt and it’s dirty, cleaning the chain, pulley wheels, chain ring is a pain !!!

I actually mounted my LOOK Cleats to the Patrocleats with original LOOK Bolts. Then I took my Dremel tool and ground them flat to where they are even with Patrocleats. Worked like a charm. Since using these I have never felt better on the bike. Just subscribed to your channel. I live in Vegas but come down to Dana Point to visit my in-laws all the time. We should go for a ride so you can show me some good rides down there.

So I have same LAKE shoes and bought the Patrocleats after watching your video. Question is......did you use the small or longer bolts that came with the Patrocleats to mount to your Lake shoes?? I used the small ones but I am worried about them coming loose. Thanks Great video.

I was in Carp last week at the beach. got 163 mi and had a blast. Weather was awesome. Surf was 65 degrees. No wetsuit. I enjoy your posts and give me ideas where to go. Back to Carp in Sept

Hardshells rock...thousands of miles with 0 flats. Also in SoCal and used to get flats all the time on non-hardshell. So, have to disagree with the presenter. Take the measly 30g penalty ... you're not in the TdF.

I have a 21 mile out-and-back route (flat bike trail) that is my go-to when I should do a ride but I am just not feeling it. I know that I can always ride that route and get in some activity/miles. It is not, but at least I got out for some exercise.

What are your thoughts on super high end Lycra bibs? I have a bunch of Pearl, Enduro,Speciaized and Voler (club kits) bibs.I have had no issues with my back to back long distance rides and of course shorter weekday rides. But I was thinking of upgrading to Assos,MAAP or Rapha or some other super high end brand. Assos is my first choice, but I have no experience with them. Your thoughts?

FYI, the large size gatorade bottles are amazing for stripping chains. Buy a few of those and just leave them filled with your mineral apirits and alcohol. Reuseable over and over again!

I have the same shoes and after one season the tongue is scrap and it cost me $50.00 at the shoemaker but after that the little place where the boa lace past in the upper tongue break .I think it's because the shoes are leather and it's the first time that i have this problem and the first time that i have leather shoe and maybe with the swear the leathe shoe don't like it and after a ride my shoe had some white swear on the outside.

I think both Silka and Squirt wax can be used together without problem, because I have been using Paraffin wax with crock pot and Squirt wax for awhile and it works.

I just bought the ebike squirt wax low temp (Green bottle) to try it on my new bike, never used squirt before but know it's for longer lasting whare as the muc off and ceramics need done after every 4hrs or every ride

on an unrelated note (still in relation to footwear), if you have trouble finding your correct size for dressier shoes, theres a whole deep dive into companies that produce anatomical, combination lasts with a wide front foot and a narrow hind foot.

Would it be possible to do the Silca crockpot to avoid the degreasing procedure (which does indeed take a while, hence I do this for 2-3 chains at the same time) and then just switch to Squirt? Or are the two products incompatible and you'd still need to clean the chain for Squirt?

Squirt is awesome. I do wax my chain and use Squirt as I get closer to needing to re-wax.
