This is a demo I did for a friend, of the YC/CP and Nord piano, ep, and organ sounds. Just a fun comparison, nothing scientific.

Excellent!!
59:50 at least one good lead. But no ADSR modification I guess. I don't understand why there is not the classic jazz synth leads
I think the yc88 is the winner here. It looks more professional and will do all you need in any professional setting and it’s built like a tank
Hi Watt and Marshall
У меня Rolland RD-700NX. Надеюсь, в этой модели производители улучшили управление ударными? В моей модели нельзя регулировать громкость ударных на лету, более того при смене звуков менялись и ударные. Как с этим дело обстоит в этой модели?
Bel sound!. Sorry Mr. Ben Allen, what amp did you use with the XK4. Thank you
I don't understand what you are asking. What you are hearing in this video, is straight from the XK4, into the Strymon Lex V2 pedal, and then into my interface. No amps were involved.
@@benallen5967 OK, Thanks.

Hi Ben, thanks for all the great information, i use this piano in the church but cant find the cello and pan flute sound, if you pls kindly just tell me under what button i can find and the sequence digital number for them, really appreciate it, thanks a lot
Lex is a superb Leslie sim. The main problem with the Lex is that Strymon made it having in mind mainly (if not only) the guitarists. I had the "Burn" connected it on a Hammond XK1 (actually i had connected two of them) and the sound was excellent. Later i bought a Hammond XK1c and i tried it with Vent II. It''s ok, but something is missing. When i connected the Lex on the XK1c i found the sound i was searching for years, this "motor-boat" intense sound you get when you have the mics too close to Leslie rotors. The Lex sounds more "warm" in my ears, especially on higher notes. Personally i chose the Lex over Vent II for its "warmth" and its intense sound. Pull out all the drawbars and listen on Fast speed the higher notes, only Lex make them sound "creamy" and warm, even with the "Clip" overdrive from the SK/XK1c/XK4 models. The Clip OD is almost useless with internal sim, but with Lex sounds extremely well. I was thinking to buy the XK4 and the Lex v2 for a long time, and probably i'll buy them in this summer. Listen few sound examples i recorded with the XK1c and Lex in the link below. Even Strymon posted few of these in its Facebook page. 😁 ua-cam.com/video/ch2iQ7uV3bg/v-deo.html
I wish I had one!!!!
It is a great board!
I know I'll have one!!!!

Good review! Thank you!

Hello Ben. This is such a great review of B-3X. Thank you. I have the software for my setup (Yamaha P-125B / L1-P1 foot pedal / iPad Pro). I would like to know the other software you are integrating with the B-3X that offers other instruments and sounds. I am limited to the voices I have built into my Yamaha. I see one as Ravenscroft (piano?). But what are the others that allow you voices / sounds by name please? Thanks.
Bro! You messed up mehn. Why didn't you compare both the organ on the Yamaha YC with the organ on the Nord Stage 4. You only played the organ on the YC because you know the organ on the Nord will smoke the YC organ
I clearly played both…please see 1:11:00
Absolutely the best out there. Significantly superior to burn and ventilator 1 and 2.
Thank you so much for this
That first piano sound is amazing! I''m surprised it's not on the PSR-SX900. It's on the Genos 1 and 2, but not on the PSR-SX900 at all.
Do you still have your Juno x?
I do not. I am totally opposed to the “rent our expansions” cloud model Roland has adopted and don’t understand why they think people will continue to buy their hardware which is essentially running the same software as your computer.
@@benallen5967 Do you recommend something to take its place? I was excited to get a remake of a classic but when I got it I guess I should’ve waited and researched more because I hate the premade scenes and also agree with it being software downloaded into the synth.
How do you make the drums consistent. Every time I play a melody it only speeds up if I play multiple keys faster. But what if I want the drums to play full while I only play lightly?
muy buenoooo
I ended up sending back my NS4 and bought a used Kronos 2 73 key and could no be happier. If someone likes it, then they are entitled to - but I personally wouldn't pay more than $3.5k for what the Nord offers.
as if Nord has a tube sound 🥰🥰🥰
When your playing the keyboard do you know what hold the note on the piano keys when you play the strings
Can you hear a preview of the sound before uploading? only ask as I would not want to load the wrong sound in the middle of a live set.
Amazing content, thank you so much!
Are there any samples in there like Axel F?
How did u layer those electric pianos with pads? How do I bring them one at a time to layer them and bring up each their volumes as u did with piano and organ?
Which keyboard are you referring to?
@@benallen5967towards the end of the video u were playing the yanaha and layering in pads with electric piano and organ and pads with piano. Forward to 1 08 you said section b and going to layer in pads or synth strings in. Turning sections on u said. Where u said u made a UN upright piano or something then started layering in synth strings then Rhodes piano and layered in pads. When turning sections off or something.

@@benallen5967 I will thanks Ben
Which is better? And why?
How bout on the Nord Stage 4 how is the LESLIE? Or the Roland Fantom 07 or 08 or roland vr-09-b and v-combo vr-730 keyboard ?
Nice video thanks for the patience for doing that. Ben, would you rather go with the Fantom or de Yamaha Montage M, if you`d have to choose?
Wormhole organ 55:22. sold ❤. Played it well
Great video, so informative and detailed, and superb playing! Might I ask what speakers/amp are you playing through?
Thanks! I'm using headphones. I rarely turn them on, but when I use monitors in the room, I have a pair of ADAM T7Vs. My headphones are Neumann NDH-30, and when I play live, I use 64 Audio U12T, U6T, and Sennheiser IE900.
Cool, thanks so much!!! I guess my question is what am I hearing these keyboards through?

Really enjoyed watching, as I have same Nord and SL88 Grand arriving soon. It’s go to be impossible task for pianists in a DP and everyone’s needs, taste and budget differs. Going nuts online researching. Almost can’t beat compact for hauling to local gigs, in rock bands, and can eq anything to make it fit and cut as needed. So spoiled by the top buttons for easy engine. Now craving some weighted for home practice, I can’t wait to feel the SL, however, if it’s too grand for my tiny, older fingers, I will have to compare it to stage 4 HA. Key action is what I’m focusing on, I guess I’m used to the softer edges of the spring action semi’s, and wish the key size was just closer to full. Deciding to back off gigs and do my own playing, I still like some B3 and synth strings. I’ve tried and returned es120 and es920, and look to lower price item before I take the plunge. I don’t see many reviews describing the key action bounce, weight etc., but tons of opines in forums. Anyway your vid helps. Thanks
So good! Loved the part on 40:22
Ben Allen again! Thank you for the community of Nord lovers 🫶🏼👏🏼
Where to buy for iPad ?
I mainly hear sounds that you can easily find in the Integra... that device will become 4 times more expensive in the future, because people currently have no idea what it can do 😊
31:17 albsure night and day
43:30 no loon? 😢
Excellent playing.
Thanks, great chops!
Ben, are you able to share any insights on the XK-4 vs. XK-5 or SK Pro (B3)
I don’t think any of them are worth the price except the XK-4. The SK-Pro is one of the worst and most disappointing boards I’ve ever owned. I couldn’t send it back fast enough. The XK-5 flagship is…let’s call it dead in the water. Hard to edit, and doesn’t sound as good as the XK-4.
@@benallen5967 Thank you so much for the insight!!! Really appreciate it.
Rhythm during the demo is cool, but we also want to see suspended layers of AC pianos and mainly EP with transitions between sustained chords. Take this tip.
Bought and sold the YC61. I really did like it, but, (as much as I really wanted to), I found the Nord Stage (I have the NS3) far superior. The NS3's Piano's, EPs and Organ are just better. A factor that would have swayed me to keep the YC is if there was an editor for the FM (8 Operator) engine (something like what Korg did with the OpSix). Amazingly enough, the Nord DX E.Piano is so much better than the equivalent in the YC - FM editing capabilities on the YC would have likely fixed that. Another downfall of the YC was that I accidentally broke one of the toggle switches. I had to order and replace an entire circuit board that contained that and other toggle switches. I could not bear the risk of having that happen again. I am grateful that I was able to locate the part and order it through Yamaha. I'm a huge Yamaha fan and have had and still have a lot of Yamaha gear. Nord prices really turn me off, thus why I really "wanted" to like the YC better, but ultimately the Nord won out for my situation.
after yr video...i decided to get both.....becos u made them all sound so Great!!....... i always belived that it's the Master.....that makes the tools great !.thank you
This aftertouch...amazing. Thx for your demo.
That cfx sound is incredible...
It’s interesting that of the myriad of different types of organ sounds and combinations, that there’s not one cathedral-sounding patch.
Clavia Nord should be aware of iPad IOS and make an app for live set programming and maybe a sequencer too as they have for norddrums 😊
