You must realize that Memphis is a dying city. It is a cesspool of crime, needless killings and corruption. The suburbs are growing due to people trying to get away from the mess!!! This is the REALITY of Memphis. Now the crime is stretching into the nearby suburbs as well. Its sad to see it go but trust me IT IS GOING!!!! GOING the way of Detroit, Gary, Oakland and Baltimore. I cannot wait to get out of Shelby County!!!!! Its sad though because there are some very wonderful people here but they will soon be gone as well; those that can afford to move! Do not move here!! It will be a VERY costly mistake! CRIME, CRIME AND MORE CRIME!!! Things get built and then destroyed within two years!! City leaders are corrupted and the stress of racial tension ALWAYS looms in the air. Look up the stats people! Do your homework!! I wish I was wrong.

I'm from Memphis, but I now live in Batesville, MS. Its a hour away from Memphis and 25 minutes away from Oxford MS where the University of Mississippi Ole MISS is located. I actually love it here. Its safe and very peaceful. There are decent restaurants and choices for shopping. The people here are very friendly and easygoing. If I need anything in the city, Memphis is just an hour drive away. Most of everything I need is in Oxford MS, though, so I have no need to come to Memphis often. Most people who live here are afraid of Memphis due to all of the crime they see on the news. The farthest they will drive is Southaven.

Also economics. When people are poor with little self worth they will commit crime. Change the economics and their view of themselves and problem solved. Prison just creates more criminals

As far as crime I think politicians are beholden to the wealthy. Those people do not live around much crime so they therefore don’t do much about it. All the major cities have lots of crime because there are lots of people. I live in NYC with 9 million people. There will be crime

In Memphis you can still live in the city. As the city becomes more expensive you will be pushed out.

Memphis gets such a bad wrap. I really have to visit. I see a lot of industry and growth potential. I wonder why Musk chose Memphis. The location of Memphis being close to waterways, railroad, airport and major highways is great!! Crime is going to be a given. The poorer residence need to purchase city owned lots before it’s too late

I moved from Memphis to Nashville. That is a nah nah! So I am looking to come back to the Memphis area and I am really thinking hard about the Tip of the Sip.

How is the racial dynamic?

The Olive Branch area is booming. Just across the state line in Mississippi. The income tax is low and you really have to pay very little if any. It's in Desoto County, new homes here are around 400K with lots of space (2500-2800 sqft). The local govt will help protect your property value. You will love it here!!

We moved to Cordova about 30 years ago when Germantown Parkway wasn't that busy at the time. Today, we enjoy all the convenience from shopping, medical facilities, eat-out, church and easy access to Inter-state 40, etc. We are now retired but won't move close to our children in Dallas or Charlotte. But Cordova is well all built-out, no more land for new construction. We love all the suburbs on east-side of Memphis.

Atlanta doesn’t have water. I wonder if that was really a choice. I doubt that all parties will be satisfied. Politicians will be compensated and if the area gets built it won’t be for the poor. Poor people need to take advantage of the cheap property in their neighborhoods. Shelby County basically gives away property. Your city will either die or be too expensive like NYC and Cali. Residents have to take advantage of low cost investments and ban together rather than crime

Don't talk about because your going to get Memphis people to move there the same what cordova has become a dump now

The wedgewood shopping center is technically in olive Branch. Do one on olive Branch as well. They've annexed a lot of land and now it's technically the biggest city in Mississippi now. Cascades is a new development in OB that's being built off of 305 and 78. North point, sacred. Heart, Northstar are a few of the private schools in Southaven. Hernando and Oxford will make some great ones too.

Way better than than living in Memphis. Good weather. Everything you need is close. Bartlett Police don’t play, either.

I love living in Memphis!! But if you are not the type of person that is okay with diversity, this is definitely not the city for you.

Nope! We Drive through Downtown Memphis on the way to Louisville Kentucky metro area. We tried to stop for Lunch ! It honestly was a nightmare downtown Memphis. The streets were empty and no traffic. We saw homeless people everywhere. We were not allowed to use the public bathrooms at restaurants. I am a middle class middle age white woman. I was Driving a 2022 new mini van . Memphis seemed like the hood. I was extremely upset . I ended up driving 2 more hours before stopping at a gas station to use the bathroom. That evening we stayed at a hotel in Nashville next to the arena. I can't recommend living in Tennessee . I would move back to Texas before living in Tennessee.
