I'll be honest, I haven't gone back since coming to the USA while I was a child, but from what I hear from my family that have gone back, it's the unprofessionalism, bribe culture, and unpredictable violence (especially in Somalia) that are difficult to deal with and that's what makes people not want to be there long term. I also forgot to mention the unemployment. It's sad but unless Africans get serious about building their countries and investing in education for their citizens, people will remain wanting to run away.

It’s true tribalism is real in Somaliland and it’s a real disease. I was born and raised in Hargiesa and i can understand what you saying.. but the part of hargiesa I was from was abit good good place for everyone especially foreigners..!!’ I’m speaking about Jigjiga yar area there’s alot Ethiopians and other communities have More respect and welcoming its alot diverse community.. I don’t know if things changed after sometime…. Tribalism and hostility is more to southern hargiesa especially Masala area.. but never the less I understand what you are saying..,, I’m sorry for what you have experienced

I wonder about the Somali people's tribalism and racism. Soemtime Tribalism don't matter but racism is the worst. I don't think there are people who are more racist than Somalis.

Girl, the disease of tribalism and clanism is a disease that's affected almost all Somali regions. May Allah cure all Somalis from this disease but it's unfortunate that this is one of the main reasons why we as Somalis have so much division and hostility towards each other.
