Honestly I wonder what the role of a lot of characters in this story is. Not just Berdly, a lot of characters feel odd. Catti, Jockington, Rouxls, Lancer and Queen to an extent, heck even Topchef seems like he has something going on that we aren’t yet privy to.

18:10 I actually quite like this reading of him, I've never actually thought about it that way And I think it is actually REALLY plausible Looking at it from this angle, he reminds me of my experience when I was younger as a neurodivergent aroace kid (though, younger than he is in the story, but still) I always thought I had "crushes" on people whom I had somewhat recently became friends with or people who were just really nice to me. In retrospect, they were always platonic feelings, and I just struggled to comprehend that. Whether that be because of the 'tism or because I had no experience in romance, I don't know. If this reading of Berdly is what Toby Fox intended, I'm going to scream because a hyper accurate representation of my experience would make me fucking lose it

I think that his arm hurting is just him sleeping on it funny and getting pins and needles lol, I still think it only happens because of what happened in the dark world I just think that outside of game breaking routes the real world connections are silly minor things, like how if this happened in a dnd session the players might incorporate his arm falling asleep into something bigger for the character

33:43 could be a big red herring since the way Berdly slept would make it easy for his right hand to get that numb feeling (aka having it fall asleep) and combined with the “dream” he had would make him worried. Like imagine you had a dream where you lost your leg in an accident and woke up with that same leg asleep. You’d probably panic given the dream but in reality you’d be fine.

Honestly, with the "Your choices don't matter" & the notion that the Player is some villainous force within the setting, & the Leader to Tactician thing, Susie going from only doing 1 thing (Attacking) to all the same options then rejecting being instructed, & her having all the story protagonist traits, whereas Kris rejects being the silent protagonist, I could believe Susie will usurp from Kris &/or the player, the role of protagonist, if not oppose us. In-universe, she's the rebellious hero-to-be & the player is morally gray at best. Anyway, neat analysis video! Thanks for uploading!

Also in regards to the "step on me mommy" type humor, genuinely... That's very realistic. The characters in Deltarune are hormonal teenagers, they can get a little weird sometimes. Kris is weird about Susie. Ralsei is weird about Kris (or the player). Noelle is weird about Susie. Susie is weird about Kris. Berdly is weird about Susie. Ralsei is weird about Susie. Susie is very popular.

Also I do find the implications of Kris and Berdly's relationship to be extremely interesting (I totally only ship them ironically though), particularly in how their dynamic reminds me a lot more of my relationship with a lot of my friends than with genuine rivals. That part where Kris tries to get Berdly to go outside so Rudy can throw things at him is hilarious, and a lot of his insults towards them seem more like teasing than genuine malice.

Ey, this does a good job of putting into words a lot of what I've felt about Berdly over the past few years. It'd also be cool to see your thoughts on Kris, everyone seems to have a different take on them.

I’ve got to say that after reading the newest girl blog post I am honestly way more interested in Susie’s and Kris’s dynamic. It was my understanding (from experience and second hand stories) that bullies bullied people they got a rise out of. It’s why they kept coming back to bully you. So if Kris is unresponsive/unimpressed with Susie’s bullying, what is Susie even getting out of their interactions if not the satisfaction of getting a reaction out of someone. And is it actually bullying (well yes it is but also… is it?) Is Kris the only person who does not run and hide from Susie and so she keeps escalating to see at what point Kris will finally leave. And when Kris doesn’t it pisses her off because it goes against what she currently believes about herself? Which is that she is a horrible scary monster that everyone hates? Love the video by the way, really good stuff!

11:28 when Susie talks about how choices don't matter she says "YOUR choices don't matter" whereas when Ralsei contradicts this he calls Kris by name. Could Susie's message be to the player, and Ralsei's to Kris themself? As Deltarune has a theme of Kris ripping out their soul so they can be free from the players influence

Ive found that a chunck of people who describe why they hate birdly end up describing elements they themselves display. Birdly is a mirrior and they dont like the refelction. And of course theres another chunk that hate him because they view everything surface level. And there were a few who said you cant trust blue people, to which i completely understand, the blue man group freaks me the heck out.

I am Autistic and finally decided to create an autistic OC as it felt overdue. WIthin moments of finishing up, one of my friends pointed out that it seemed like I'd just made Berdly. I think this let me enjoy him as a character more, thinking about it backwards as him being like my OC. It made me come around to liking him a lot.

I enjoyed the video, but the music is sometimes a little loud compared to your voice, it makes a little hard to hear you. Very well articulated points though!

Killing Berdly in the weird route is literally killing the comic relief of the chapter. You get no comic relief in the weird route.

To me his "oh noelle must have a crush on me", read like him not having any other explanation as to why she is being so nice and helping him, especially "despite knowing he's a fraud". Because if he is neglected, he would be completely caught off guard by how noelle is acting towards her, she is doing things he'd never expect a normal loved one to do! The only reason she is being too nice to him could be that she is in love and thats clouding her judgement! Ive seen plenty of people like that before sadly.
