this compositions are insane, thumbs up to Jun Senue and all the team <3
Pumps me up
Turn and burn Dogmeat
The fact that this was composed by the same person who composed Contra III, The Alien Wars (SNES)... It just goes to show how versatile and knowledgeable Miki Higashino was with her compositions and styles on two completely different consoles lol
One of the best soundtracks from TechnoSoft and this was of their earliest work, they knew their way about the Mega Drive sound hardware.
This is unmistakably Brian Schmidt, those gritty FM patches are so recognisable.
Great soundtrack from WaterMelon and to think this was their first game, this sounds like a Japanese developed game, my favourite tracks are final battle and the battle theme.
This game uses the same sound driver as The Lawnmower Man and Mega Swiv, the title theme and House of the Dead are my jams.
Not a bad version which I don’t mind for a sound images game but the Amiga original rules the roost here.
Nice. Shining Force II is cool.
Good!
No Puggsy full ost? 😢 jk
I've been working on it, but the VGM files I was going to use to record the soundtrack have some issues, so I need to spend some more time on it.
Oh no problem. It was only a joke sorry
Slade, everything that happened is all your fault, so any further character development you should have had has gone to that annoying Phoenix. Oh, and Sarah gets to push you a couple times.
Butville the desent very nice one
Best ost its way better than snes ost
Matt Furniss was so prolific for the Mega Drive, BGM 2 os my jam and what’s interesting is this was a beta version for f Combat Cars and that the final version of that game had a completely different style of music.
Matt Furniss does it again even for a tomato game.
Pretty solid renditions (better than the Genesis version of the Golden Axe OST, anyway). Always made me sad that a 32X port never got made despite allegedly being in development. If After Burner and Space Harrier are of any indication, it would've been practically arcade-perfect.
My first exposure to Motoaki Takenouchi and, after exploring his back catalogue, still the best thing he's ever written. Those 16-bit orchestra SCREAMS in the Final Battle theme (38:03) are just insane.
Wow i wasn’t expecting this banger of an OST, this is the definitive proof that the Mega Drive can do orchestra music.
Woah! Didn't expect this one OST! Especially since when I start playing Shining Force II just yesterday😂.
Damn the memories. Played with many friends, and we created a small competition
The NES game is so much better it's not even comparable lol
Something tells me that the unused track at 27:01 might of been for either dying or the “Bogus, game over” screen
When I first heard this Mega Drive version of OutRun on Dustin’s channel, I was quite disappointed, it sounds good but it could and should have sounded much better than it does, Magical Sound Shower is my favourite in this Mega Drive version of OutRun (Splash Wave is my favourite in the original arcade version) but the missing FM channels really hurt these renditions snd the drums are kinda weak, I know that that the MD couldn’t have a hope in hell of matching the arcade version but coming from the arcade original which I adore, I guess it’s high expectations on my part having never played the MD version, but what’s here is fine. This sounds better on a model 1 though.
You can use the extended channel 3 and the PSG, and the FM patches sound different compared to the original version. I know that FM channels are missing but there wasn't a great effort to make it sound more faithful to the Arcade version. It also lacks several samples, although I imagine it was due to space in the ROM.
I grew up with this port, and I thought it sounded alright (I would own the Sega Ages port on the Sega Saturn much later). I did notice however, that the percussion in the Genesis port of these songs lacks cymbals, it kinda sounds like something's missing when you listen to it back to back with the arcade version. The synths and bass still sound great, though.
@@alexisynthfm1988you’re probably right but it’s disappointing that they couldn’t make this MD port sound at least close to the arcade original.
@@Adamtendo_player_1Starting with the fact that SEGA didn't port it, it wasn't going to sound the same, but considering the limited time frame and being an outsourced studio, they did a pretty decent job with this port.
@@alexisynthfm1988i know Sega didn’t port it, it was developed by Hertz but Hertz had access to the SMPS sound driver which I think was based on the System 16 arcade board but they made some weird choices with the instruments used, this Mega Drive port doesn’t sound bad but the drums could and should have sounded like the arcade version and some of the patches should have sounded closer to the arcade original too but I get it that the ROM size was a factor (8 Megabit) and that time frame as you said were also contributing factors, but it’s just a case of high expectations for me as i didn’t grow up with this port of OutRun.
This game was amazing. It was also hard af to beat. The soundtrack is a banger and would make a great EDM remix. Miss this game.
So much Gen 4 connections. Even nowadays, Pulseman is constantly being referenced in some way or form.
I wonder if this is Motoi Sakuraba's first soundtrack for the Genesis / Mega Drive? Notice that he uses the PSG for percussion here rather than using samples that he would later use in later Wolf Team/Renovation games.
Literally every Sega Genesis game’s soundtrack Matt Furniss touches turns into a banger, even if the actual game is terrible or underrated, or a hidden gem!
Thanks my friend for The epic songs!!!
Sounds like it could be from Road Rash.
The Genesis version of this game is actually a pretty good port.
It should have been a lot better with its unstable frame rate and pretty lacklustre renditions of the arcade soundtrack which should have sounded much better than it does.
@@Adamtendo_player_1Compare this to previous Outrun ports on other platforms and other Super Scaler ports on MD, it really was a great port for its time, the only thing it lacked apart from the music was better handling of the color palette, that's the only thing the PC Engine port beats it at.
Title theme is inspired from The beach boys, fun fun fun.
Respect for choosing "Magical Sound Shower" as the first song. It is easily the best.
Hey, is there any chance you could record and upload the soundtrack from Generations Lost on Sega Genesis? From what I remember, a lot of the soundtrack/sound test tracks are okay quality ambient sound effects and white noise, but the handful of actual musical tracks that are there are really spectacular. For some reason that I can't understand, it's a game whose soundtrack gets very little attention or love.
I'll take a look
@randomvgms Thanks!
One of the best soundtracks from early on in the life of the Mega Drive and i remember this game especially as it was part of the Mega Games 1 compilation in the UK which I had, I have the standalone version of this, my favourite tracks are “Outride a Crisis” “Winning Run” and “Hard Road”
I really like the compositions, but i always wondered why all the music is in mono only,? Also, the music has very low volume levels in real hardware so i had to use "replay gain" to get proper levels when i recorded the soundtrack from my Model 2 VA1.
Yeah the music is in mono but the sound effects are stereo as once you crash your bike on the side of the road you can hear the other bikes whizzing past you through one speaker. The most quietest game on the console is ''Deadly Moves'' and ''Super Street Fighter II''. The loudest game is ''Shadow Of The Beast''.
@@Oysterblade84 Nice you also noticed the stereo sound effects. I think this is one of the few games on the Genesis that tries to simulate "positional stereo" sound effects. The others that I´m aware of are: Outrun and Ranger X, Columns also uses a little positional stereo for the falling blocks/jewels.
i remember first playing this when i was like 5 on the sega smash pack 2 for my pc classic game amazing soundtrack
We outridin' a crisis with this one!
Hi, you missed an "i" in Hiroshi Kawaguch's name. It's Kawaguchi. :)
Thanks, for some reason when I'm copying the names it sometimes misses the last letter
@randomvgms You're welcome. And maybe try to do it slowly. I think you made mistakes when you did it fast.
When I got my Mega Drive at like age 12 (back in 2015, mind you), this was the one game I would leave on repeat just to listen to the soundtrack, even if it's limited compared to the original arcade
This sounds very close to the arcade version.
Was waiting for this one :)
Some nice renditions of the arcade originals and some exclusive tracks for the Mega Drive version but let’s be real this version is a far cry from the original sprite scaling arcade original.
This is definitely Kenichiro Isoda who composed this as it sounds very similar to Biohazard which he also composed, those FM patches and beats are recognisable.
4:49 All Stars, Japan
this one bops
Would love to see a live performance of this amazing soundtrack by for instance the band "Fastloaders" :) This is such a great soundtrack!
Nintendon't

The booklet for 'Rom Cassette Disc In HOT-B' (CDCD-10010) contains a pretty lengthy interview with Iwadare and Mizoguchi about this game's soundtrack where they identify about half of the songs, but it seems like they couldn't remember everything. Masanori Hikichi was in charge of the sound data (as in, porting the music onto MD/Genesis). According to them, the current breakdown looks like this: TITLE Composer: Noriyuki Iwadare STAGE 1 Composer: Isao Mizoguchi BOSS Composer: Isao Mizoguchi STAGE 2-1 Composer: Isao Mizoguchi STAGE 3-1 Composer: Yoshiaki Kubotera STAGE 3-2 Composer: Isao Mizoguchi STAGE 4 Composer: Noriyuki Iwadare STAGE 5-1 Composer: Isao Mizoguchi STAGE 5-2 Composer: Isao Mizoguchi STAGE 6-2 Composer: Isao Mizoguchi FINAL BOSS Composer: Yoshiaki Kubotera?
