Build Review of Revell's 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt
Thanks for sharing the tip.
I really wanted to buy this kit, but those link and length tracks are a huge turn off for me. For me, building them gets to be just too tedious and not fun at all. I wish Tamiya would include vinyl tracks in each kit for those of us who want to use them. I can easily paint and weather them to look just as realistic.
Very cool
Are you planning on putting white walls on the tires? that would really make it
Also you can print all kinds of patterns to replicate different fabric textures since you’re using a decal paper
When you paint the engine do you build it first?or do u painted first? Thanks 👍🏻
Since the engine block and cylinder heads are usually the same color, I will usually assemble those parts first and then paint them together. I paint detail parts like starters, headers, and carbs before installing them.
@@paulsmessybenchmodels2602 thank you for letting me know 👍🏻👍🏻
I have a childhood memory that supports your thought on the low popularity of scale model Wildcats. A couple of friends, who happened to be brothers, got each a 1/32nd scale Revell model kit: the big bro got what seemed to us the glamorous and fabulous P-40E in Flying Tigers livery while the little bro got the F-4F-4 Wildcat with battle of Midway markings. Boy, did he look disappointed! He couldn't help looking at the P-40 and back to the Wildcat, with a look of having been cheated somehow. For a long time, I would think that the P-40E simply beat the Wildcat as purchase choice. But now it's the opposite for me. Over the past few years, I strived to build one 1/72, one 1/48, and 1/32 Wildcat. I have one of each built and plan to build the Trumpeter kit in 1/32 scale soon. As of Arma Hobby, after examining their instruction manuals and watching a few build videos, I can tell they're exceedingly detailed.
Wow - what a waste of time, resources-and effort for something that will never be seen, thought about or ever cared for!
Yes, the seats are for a tiny car that doesn't run.
So simple it's genius. Love it.
Thank you for materials!
Great insight on some key points. Many moons ago I made the 7026 kit, don't remember too much about it. I now have the 7027, with a few different later model(sic) bits. I am developing it with functional lighting (Arduino powered), so the body has to come off. There are alternatives to that, but I hadn't thought about the wheel wells being part of the body. I like it.
Does anyone have a technique to simulate velour?
Thanks! That’s a neat technique!
It was good to had your cat to demonstrate how the properly study the instruction sheet. My cats are very helpful as well when I Am trying to study things.
David R Lentz, USA You counsel us to use a mesh material for craft ribbons as a mechanistic frisket to airbrush over the seat and interiors. Very interesting. Thanks! I wish all you modellers would compile all these myriads of tips into a cohesive whole. As you lot would edit them, you would test competing ideas-e.g., in car petrol engines (prior to fuel injection), wiring the distributors, the coils, the spark plugs, adding the boots, etc.-to see if one was better, or just simpler, easier, more economical, etc. As I was writing the above, I realised that I do not know to any certainty if fuel injection engines use spark plugs. I checked online, to learn that “[f[uel injection engines do not rely [up]on spark plugs for ignition. Instead, they use fuel injectors to spray fuel directly into the combustion chamber, where the engine’s natural induction ignites it. However, modern engines with smart gasoline direct injection (GDI) may still use spark plugs specifically designed for their combustion chambers (edited).” (Unfortunately, I cannot recall my source to give credit.) This poses a new question: how would one represent such GDI method(s) on a vehicle that uses that technology?
Cool tip
Good tip
way cool
This popped up at the right time. I'm building a 51 Chevy and putting in some extra time on this interior. You technique will be put to good use on this build. Thanks for sharing.
Goodjob👍I’m building "Eastern front version "😊
The Italeri kits have superior plastic and very little flash, but watch the instructions carefully. Fitment issues can result from even the slightest deviation from the manual.
Great looking kit. How long do you put the decal in the hot water?
Ty. These 2 vids are exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to find the flaws of the kit build before i started. Now I have a heads-up. Thanks. Shame too, i was looking forward to using the round fuel tank and long air tank.
Nice tip.
Wow! Excellent tip! Thank you!
I'm building this kit right now! I agree mocking up parts first, is crucial. I too noticed that some parts can't go on in order listed! I had to omit a few things, amd or modify them. I love these GMC Astro 95 and Chevrolet Titan 90 trucks! So I'll be able to do a better job on the other 4 Astro 95 kits I have! It didn't help that I'm an amateur builder, going from a Monogram 1/32 scale Chevrolet Bison, straight to this AMT kit!
Thanks for an interesting “ how to “. Very creative
Thanks for the great info!
thanks for watching!
I love to watch a video and learn something. I know that is an outdated concept...😅...that is an amazing idea. NEW SUBSCRIBER ❤
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it.
Very awesome work
This is a very informative video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It will definitely help me stay sane when building one of these. 😎
Wow
what paint did you use for the fuel tanks?
I don't remember for sure, but it was probably Tamiya AS-12.
@@paulsmessybenchmodels2602 thank you!
Was looking for a way to do the seats on the '82 Ford Bronco and was leaning toward mesh of some type to do the patterns but just how to paint the patterns was where I was stumped. I see some other good tips posted below as well.
Really cool
Kudos to you for your work on a challenging AMT truck kit. I've said the same to other truck modelers on UA-cam and at truck shows because I know what a nightmare they can be. I think there's an odd sense of pride we modelers have when we work our way through or around the excess flash, the warped or miscast parts, and the parts with no placement details. I believe we develop a sort camaraderie with others who have defeated the same monsters. (All) that said, have we ever stopped to consider what it might be like to build a kit of higher quality? Would we be able to bring a higher level of quality to our building while reducing the foul language and dangerous amounts of alcohol consumed during each build? I don't know - what do you think?😉
wwooww jes .. 🙂
…that paint finish , awesome!!
I put this one together....years ago...lol
Whoa, that Monte’s hood and front end are freakishly long. 😬
Just an idea. You could tape the decal paper to a spray can to maintain the curvature and use your airbrush to paint the design.
Do you know the chose 1/25 when the other kits were 1/24 ?
I don't know, maybe the kits were designed before they knew that they were going to acquire the old Monogram molds?
Is there anything out there that shows your sister's diorama?
That looks amazing!Very nice job Going to look for some more of your videos!
Dude this seats look awesome!! As a personal preference and not to take away from your excellent work, but I would have gone with a semi gloss overcoat. Too shiny for me.
My kit had the same problem with the tires. Sadly the company that makes them don't help you to replace them with better ones.
Ikr. What a racquet that is. They knowingly sell you crap kit wheels n tires then turn around and sell seperate aftermarket ones. Sighhh. Typical.
THAT'S A AWESOME AMG Build..👏🏻👏🏻🤗🤗
Thanks!
I usually don't build NASCAR stuff but i do like the older ones. My love for Oldsmobiles has me wanting to try one of these, so i appreciate the heads up on the issues and maybe I'll try one of the others first.
Going to try one of those,, soon
Great idea! Thanks!
