IQSE SETTINGS:
After a lot of studying the IQSE settings, this is my take on it:
I've tried numerous combinations of manual cut-off times and they were never perfect. Since these cut-off are set per rev, there were always times where the same cut time was smooth in one gear, but not so smooth in another gear. I've come across the best settings that work for me using the Adaptive cut-off times (Auto).
The adaptive cut-off seems to make micro adjustments depending on engine load, which helps with the uneven shift feeling between gears on the same revs. The reasons why shifts on the MT-07 are very rough out of the box are: Incorrect shift sensor threshold and Cut-off delay, and too little cut-off times. An incorrect sensor threshold will either cut-off without actually shifting, or not shift at all. Incorrect cut-off delay and cut-off times will make shifts really rough.
The MT-07 has a 2-cylinder engine with a lot of torque, hence a lot of load, so shifts will never be buttery smooth as a 4 cylinder, but it's possible to get really damn close.
Here's my settings and some advice per setting so you can find the sweet spot.
- Sensor setup -
Sensor Type: QSE Sensor
Noise Filtering: Active (this avoids mis-shifts due to accidental touches or vibrations)
Sensor threshold: 40% (Mess with this number. Too low and it won't always shift, or at all. Too high and will cut at any touch of your foot, even by just resting it against the shifter)
Cut-Off Delay: 15ms (For me this is the best setting. I wouldn't use less than 15ms or more than 20ms from my tests)
- Cut-Off Times -
Type: Adaptive (Auto)
Setting: 110 ms (Experiment between 105 and 120 and find the best setting for your bike and riding style. I would NOT use below 100)
Note: I do not use the downshift feature because I think it doesn't work properly on non ride by wire bikes. Contact Healtech to know how to disable the downshift feature (involves a couple of steps that I don't recall at the moment)
