    Hello from Illinois! So happy to have run across your really great XL750 Videos and your sense of humor. I'll be checking in often to see what's new in your world. I bought my Tranny in March 2024, and was searching windscreens for a 5'10" dude. Due to your Givi video, decided to go that way, as it has the WIDTH that most others to not. My experience with noise and wind on the XL has been kinda brutal, in a spoiled-boy sorta way, well, coming from an Africa Twin actually, which was a comfort eagle. But hoping the Givi will offer at least a 10-20% decrease in wind and noise. I was surprised at the low price of the screens these days. Back in 2020, when I retired and got back into off roading, they were much higher. Now, it's the seats that demand that kind of price. Luckily the XL doesn't need one. It's raining right now, but I can't wait to get out and test the Givi (it took 3 days to get here from Revzilla :)

    • @PeterVred
      @PeterVred Місяць тому

      Test went GREAT!! the cockpit is now much quieter and more calm. I feel a bit of wind on my hands and forearms, but nothing like before. there is no wind on my upper arms and torso now, and I can ride with my visor up and feel very little interference. This is a tremendous improvement. I'm seeing my 750 in a whole new light...that being, I don't want to get rid of it like I had been. My comfort level now competes with the old AT. The medium dark color looks fabulous too! It's like a whole new bike! I highly recommend.

      @@PeterVred I'm really glad my videos helped you out! It's such a great bike once you get a few upgrades going. @SandraOrtmann1976 3 місяці тому

    Great video! I went with basically the same box, but in silver (as I got a great deal on a pair of SW Motech-panniers, I wanted it to match somewhat). I think the 55l was a good choice when I look at your Transalp (I ride a Yamaha Tracer 700). A good compromise between looking not too bulky, but you can also fit quite a bit into there. It even has the matching "X". Regarding the general capacity of these boxes: I have seen them ranging from 22l up to 80l. If you absolutely want something streamlined, IMO the 22 or 28l are a good choice, as they are less tall. As the boxes from up to 45l get wider and wider: one thing I suspect that if you go really big, you might not be able to open top-loading panniers anymore (not 100 % sure about that).

    • @Tailbo
      @Tailbo 5 місяців тому

      I’m sorry you didn’t like it. If you are keeping it I’d like to make some recommendations for you. The highway noise is due to the small windscreen. The givi tall windscreen is what I have and it’s great on the highway now. I personally have no issues riding in traffic but could you describe some of the symptoms because you might need to take it into the shop. The factory tires on any bike usually aren’t good but which ones are you running? I have the motoz tires and they are knobby and even at speed they aren’t crazy loud. As for the speedo what makes you think it’s off? The combination of things makes me thing you have a sensor issue or something because most people I’ve spoken to haven’t had any of these issues.

    A link for the shift extender? Thank you

    • @Tailbo
      @Tailbo 5 місяців тому

      here’s the link amzn.to/4c0vs9H (it’s an associates link don’t hate me lol) it comes with all the hardware except you’ll need to add a washer. The problem is the area of the shifter that houses the main bolt and bushing is just slightly to long so when it’s fully torqued it seizes up to the bike or loosens the bolt. Solution would be get a thin wash big enough to cover the bushing area and fit the bolt but not touch the shifter, or alternatively sand the shifter down about 1mm so it doesn’t contact the frame and has a slight bit of play side to side when fully torqued. Use name brand medium strength loctite (usually works better than generic) on all the bolts and torque everything. The vibration has caused some of my bolts to come loose when I didn’t use loctite. Use some waterproof grease on the bushings and linkages as they aren’t sealed with a rubber boot like the oem shifter. Even though it sounds like a hassle it wasn’t really and I really enjoy it! Way cheaper than the sw motech version and gives me more than enough room as well as a bigger contact patch so I don’t miss shifts. I have US13 feet and wear tech 7 boots and I couldn’t even shift before and certainly not while standing so it’s definitely a massive improvement for me at least. Also folds when you drop the bike so u don’t gotta worry so much about damage. Side note: SW-MOTECH sells the real version of this along with a brake pedal and has an attachment for a much bigger grippy brake attachment with step up riser for off roading (sold separate) it’s like 300 for the set (sw motech prices always crazy) but the quality looks really good and I wouldn’t trust anything Amazon for brakes only shifter. I can’t afford it right now just wanted to throw that out there.

    Cool! Nice find. I like the nice soft interior liner also. I know the tree shaped bits as a "Uni-bit" or "Step Drill bit." You always provide very good advice in your videos. Note the Transalp has a USB-C charger from the factory under the seat near the very back behind the seat latch, also. I am 165 lbs and have the rear shock set at #6 position of 7 with 7 being the stiffest. It does not provide the ideal Sag setting but helps to greatly reduce, mitigate the wollowing and lack of rebound adjustment. I also set the forks at 10 turns in from stock 7 turns. My Transalp sits flat and is safer to rider now. No where near a sportbike on the road or offroad but OK until I upgrade the rear shock and spring to the correct ones for my weight and luggage added weight. Which will make it so much better, safer for me and will make the tires last longer and perform better offroad, on dry and wet pavement.

    Good video. Only suggestion I have would be to add a washer under the nuts for the two front bolts holding the mounting bracket to the grab rail. The grab rail is cast aluminum and more prone to cracking from stress than something machined from billet, so the washers would help distribute that pressure/stress out over a little wider area. Probably not necessary, but it could be just enough to prevent a crack in a crash. For $0.15 for a couple 10mm flat washers at your local hardware it's not going to break the bank and may give you a little additional piece of mind.

    • @Tailbo
      @Tailbo 6 місяців тому

      I can switch it out later. I would need to switch out the bolt for a slightly longer one but not as long as the long bolts included. I only had grade 8 fasteners and washers laying around and adding a washer to the included hardware meant that the nylon in the nut wouldn't make contact and wouldn't stay secure. I didn't torque it down heavily or anything so it should be alright for the moment but you are absolutely right.

      The ring on the top goes counterclockwise to increase and clockwise to decrease. But after you get to the highest setting it drops back to the first setting so make sure you watch closely and don't keep twisting blind to avoid any damage. You can see the little ramps on the side near the brake reservoir.

    Hello Tailbo. I think you have a great future as a content provider. I don't own the Transalp, but after watching several videos I am becoming a fan. I am also a Florida guy, and I am interested in motorcycling anywhere in this great state.

      Thanks for saying that, I have been trying to put in more effort in my recent videos to help out the Transalp community and provide some insight to the owners / potential owners! I have been absolutely loving my transalp so far and trying to make it my own. I think the worst part of riding in Florida is getting caught in traffic on these hot summer days or the rain storms that seemingly come out of nowhere. I have a house in rural Georgia and ride down to Florida a few times a week to see my family, do work, and occasionally I ride to the beach. The back roads / canopy roads are where you'll have the most fun especially if you are a nature lover like myself. Remember to stay hydrated and wear A.T.G.A.T.T :)

    I like the SW-Motech footpegs that have 36 positions in a circle. I have then installed in the lowest position which is 15 mm (1/2") lower. They are almost 1 inch wider from the frame. I use them with the rubber peg insert removed. After a few rides I like them and they are easier on my bad hips which was my objective. My boots are a size 10 or 43 Euro.

    I like the idea of the Acerbis frame guards as my stock frame guards are getting scuffed up already as you said yours were also. Did not know they were available. Thanxs. I got the SW-Motech footpegs that have 36 positions (in a circle) and have then in the 15 mm (1/2") lowest position which helps my bad hips. I use them with the rubber removed from the footpeg. I have the black Outback rear rack which makes for a larger rear rack area. I have the SW-Motech gloss black metal handguards that have the exact same holes and bends,.. as the BarkBusters which were not available last January for me. Only the plastic guard part is a different shape for SW-Motech but one of the packages from SW-Motech has a pick of the BarkBusters on it and BarkBuster can be clearly read on it in the color picture. So they may get them from the same supplier.? I also added a larger kickstand foot print which is nice on hot pavement or in soft soils. Also have the popular Hepco & Becker skidplate and lower crash bar from Germany.

      So the sw-motech handguards are actually just rebranded barkbusters with a different plastic moulding which means that you could theoretically switch out the plastic guard on it for a barkbusters one if you’d like
