0:06 it sounds like an air raid siren - sounds wonderful in your car!!
Bro how?
Not at the same level
Yeah not at all what it was made for
Hey! I purchased a 65 l320 and am looking at swapping in a Honda L15b. I was wondering what kind suspension work or tires you have on the truck to get it to hook up down the quarter mile? Love the truck, thanks a lot for your help!
I have mine sitting on a shortened 93 Toyota pickup frame. Everything on the Toyota frame is stock except it has some lowering springs in the rear. It definitely can't hook up at all as I'm running old street tires. My future setup will be some Stickier 205/50R15's with either a limited slip or a spool in the rear. It's definitely alot easier sourcing performance parts for a modern Toyota than a 60's Datsun 😆.
@@MasterYota4Runner Gotcha, thanks for letting me know! Do you have a build thread anywhere? I would love to see more of it!
Kumaha ajig
I don't think that's 300hp... especially with afm
Dam. Imagine a stage 5 built 22re from lceperformance with 21lbs of boost.
Can’t wait to finish my 22r build it would be very similar
building a 20/22r hybrid for my 86 4runner. my 82 has 268 cam. love this engine
that's exceptional dude
Man, come back to us, there is someone who just posted a video of his 22re making 350HP, with a Turbonetic's turbo making 27lbs of boost at 6400 RPM on E85. This thing would absolutely stop that truck considering you're on an undersized turbo and pump gas!
You cant compare two dynos from two completely different places as an apples to apples. One guy at high altitude may need 5 more psi and more rpm to make the same power as another guy at sea level and they could have the same exact engine combo
@@madmod Realistically it's just the difference of either having the work done he says he has done, or actually knowing what he is doing. Anytime anyone has asked the other guy his build, it's the same cookie-cutter answers. "Fully built forged bottom head, stage 5 head, and a turbonetics turbo" (Or whatever the brand is." Compare that with this guy's answer when someone asked him his build. And I quote."Here are the specs: non turbo block, stock crank that's balanced and polished, eagle rods, forged pistons, everything is balanced btw, ARP head and main studs, cometic head gasket, ported head, stage 3 turbo cam from LC, adjustable timing gear from LC, six puck clutch from LC, 9lb aluminum flywheel from LC, custom turbo manifold, t3t4 50 trim turbo, for now, it is too small, universal front mount intercooler, crane coil, 780cc injectors with Walbro pump, stock computer and harness out of a 94 2wd pickup, modded air flow meter, full 3" exhaust, electric cooling fans, rearend out of an 82 4x4 with 3.07 gears, tranny out of a 94 2wd....I did try an early supra AFM, but could not get it to work, because the voltage is switched on the supras and some other toyotas. 22re systems work 0-7 volts or something, whereas the supras runs 7-0 or 5-0 or somethin. so its backwards. however!.....the AFM i am using is off an 88 mazda 626 which has a 3 inch inlet which is the same size as the supra and it was basically plug and play. i work at a junkyard so ive tried many AFM's" So one guy is either being really secretive or doesn't know the work that was done, compared to this guy that obviously knows what he is doing.
22RE power baby
Nice!!! Sounds so good
What turbo are you running? What trim?
Stock turbo from an 02 Volvo V70. TD04 16t
Man that’s crazy sounds like it runs really good
I didn't think it could be done wow
What engine you got
What number were you running man includong your 0-60
The best time i ran was a 14.002 at 93mph. It had a problem of heat soaking the intercooler towards the end of the track so it would drop in power significantly. My best guess on 0-60 would be around 5 seconds.
@@MasterYota4Runner wow ok...thats pretty quick. Im restoring a hit mr2 sc 88 and i havent driven it on the road yet cause it isnt registed till i fix the smash on the bumper. But it has an aftermarket nevo pulley 175mm and a custom exhaust system that i built so i cant imagine how quick thats gonna hit haha. Have you lined up with any cars to give a roughie on what it can do. Sayyy a golf gti or silvia? Haha thanks for the reply btw
@@samsukkarieh1909 the setup i have is an 86 4age engine with all the supercharger stuff swapped onto it. So it's a higher compression than a stock 4agze motor so i get a little bit more power, plus the blue top N.A. cams are a lot better than the stock gze ones. I've raced a modded "bug eye" STI at the track and we both launched the same and ended up neck and neck all the way down. These things launch HARD lol.
@@MasterYota4Runner oh wow😂 i didnt think they pulled that hard. Im guessing they have alot of lower end torque. But it was the gze sc right? Not the sc14 from the supras and so on
@@samsukkarieh1909 yep just the sc12. Everything factory. A few months after this video tho, I installed the bigger T3 crank pulley and a water to air intercooler system. Maxed out at about 12psi. It lasted about a week after that...lol. Lost compression in cyl #1. Now it sits in my garage waiting to be rebuilt haha.
Shit i live like 15 mins away from firebird i would love to race you o got a 07 xrunner
Good god, that motor knocks bad.
What about mpg
Stock RTE ECU?
I want this performance for my truck !
I did , I think they're the only ones, thanks man I appreciated
Hello, I'm building my 87 22rte engine, I'm looking for forged turbo Pistons, where did you get yours , and what's the brand ? And where I can get them , thanks
2nan7do try LC engineering they sell everything you'll ever need for those engines.
Awesome video man, it was cool to see you reel him in! How's it do on Old Freeze Out Rd, does it go around a corner well with that spool?
What mods?
just a cone filter and exhaust system. stock everything else.
sounds great. one of my all time favorite cars.
Would you say a 22re turbo down at about 290-300 hp would be reliable for daily?
I daily drove this celica for a couple years no problem, and I drive it like I stole it. Breaking the tires free whenever you hit boost is too much fun.
That's badass! I have a 84 GTS I'm thinking about building a turbo engine for. I hate to ask but do you think you could get me a spec sheet of your build? I want to run a setup I know is proven, and your's clearly is.
+MasterYota4Runner Wait, I see you've posted them already, I'm sorry i missed that. What's your max rpm on this build?
has the stock 6400 limit. could probably bring it up to 7 with an msd ignition.
MasterYota4Runner, what happened after 2 years? I want to do something like this to my 88 pickup.
what engine is the celica running ????
22re turbo efi
How did you get the whine so loud? I'd love to get mine sounding like that.
+Coco & Ruby A cone filter in the trunk makes the whine loud in the cabin, a cone filter in the engine bay makes it loud outside of the car. The gopro above the engine lid exaggerates the sound quite a bit actually ha ha.
@@MasterYota4Runner I'd also add that there are some pieces of sponge / foam inside the trunk/ rear guards area near the air filter that can be removed to further increase sound transmission into the cabin.
Could you tell me what is the name of that color? I got a datsun just like thata one and i want to paint it the same color!
cast99 Its actually just a cheapy maaco paint job and have no idea the exact paint code. its about 10 years old now and really starting to peel and fade. Going to get it done right hopefully in the next year or so.
+MasterYota4Runner It looks clean tho. nice car!!
u have some great vids on ur channel. i believe that Z24 was a long stroke lazy engine. I may need some opinion of yours tuning up my 22R
All that work and only high 12s buy some real muscle next time 12 ain't shit
Its not work if its a hobby and you enjoy buying a car for 200 bucks and making it run with corvettes..... And you drive what again? I'm assuming something mommy bought you.
yeah man you got nothing to prove lol. a 300 + hp 22r? that's just amazing
Cs Co and then i went to your channel to see muscle car and in up only see Gay shit
Do I spy Idaho plates? Wouldnt happen to be near the Oregon border would ya? Would love to check out that home made manifold!
Really nice, congrats, I have a question, I just put an 86 22rte, on my 87 toyota pickup dually, but is poping , do you have any idea what can be, or what should I do , I have 380 injectors , intercooler In front , garret turbo , stock ecu , any help will help, thank you , NANDO.
sounds like too much timing advance, not high enough grade of fuel, or its running way too rich or way too lean. try running colder spark plugs, 91 octane fuel. maybe try to find the coldest thermostat you can find. i run my car around 160.
1st is all way get a megasquirt ecu
what gears ratio do you have? 411?
naheboy 3.07's
I have 411 on my truck u think it be better to go with taller gears?
4x4 or 2wd? you looking to rock crawl or street truck? i use 4.88's on my truck that has 38" swampers, but putting taller gears in a little toyota pickup WILL slow it down lol. if you wanna gain a little acceleration, go with 4.30's. unless you have some power, than you can go taller to take advantage of the power.
jjjjikekkeiejehbd to
I have a 94 2wd pickup extra. Fastest I ran was 13.3 Will be running 110 next month and try to get it down to 12's
you should get a standalone for your car. i got the sds from lc and its pretty good
I'm not digging the chevelle getting beat but your top end pull was good. Check out my race, very similar results with low 11s.
What's was your time and mph?
12.97 at 107 i do believe. should be low 12's high 11's this year.
Oooooo amazing
awesome
I'm also doing a turbo 22re. You can see the early runs in my channel. I'm running megasquirt though. I'm currently upgrading the little TD04 that I had on it to a .50 trim t3/t4, Turbo pistons, cometic HG, ARP studs, 440cc injectors (sequentially fired instead of batch like stock). Also getting rid of the dizzy and replacing it with Ford EDIS4! If you're gonna stick with the air meter, find one from an old celica supra. If I remember correctly, there was one year that had an air meter that is substantially bigger diameter than the 22re, but is otherwise a bolt on replacement. I have that air meter somewhere in my garage, if you're interested :D
I did try an early supra AFM, but could not get it to work, because the voltage is switched on the supras and some other toyotas. 22re systems work 0-7 volts or something, whereas the supras runs 7-0 or 5-0 or somethin. so its backwards. however!.....the AFM i am using is off an 88 mazda 626 which has a 3 inch inlet which is the same size as the supra and it was basically plug and play. i work at a junkyard so ive tried many AFM's lol. It is definetley a fun car either way.
MasterYota4Runner Yup, I forgot about that. The range is reversed. You just have to pop the cover and swap 2 wires around. Its a trivial mod. Never heard of the Mazda AFM being a drop in replacement. Cool! Thought about megasquirt? A lot more potential there.
You on ms2 or ms3? I have the ms2 which doesnt do sequential fire
@@dangerousfandango5943 ms3. Sequential injection isn't needed though.
@@JJsMessyBench they seem to run great just on batch fire. DOD you have a custom harness for the ms3? I believe I read it somewhere that itll need one since it's not a pnp like the ms2. Which turbo are you running? And manifold?
About how much have you invested on the engine upgrades
what did you use to tune your ecu
Its a factory ecu, but i have a wideband and all i have to do adjust fuel pressure and adjust my air flow meter when i need to do any adjustments.
what kind of engine management are u running
Here are the specs: non turbo block, stock crank that's balanced and polished, eagle rods, forged pistons, everything is balanced btw, ARP head and main studs, cometic head gasket, ported head, stage 3 turbo cam from LC, adjustable timing gear from LC, six puck clutch from LC, 9lb aluminum flywheel from LC, custom turbo manifold, t3t4 50 trim turbo for now it is too small, universal front mount intercooler, crane coil, 780cc injectors with walbro pump, stock computer and harness out of a 94 2wd pickup, modded air flow meter, full 3" exhaust, electric cooling fans, rearend out of an 82 4x4 with 3.07 gears, tranny out of a 94 2wd....and yea I think that's about it. Oh also just using pump gas 91. Have not ran it down the track with the cam and aluminum flywheel yet, should be low 12's.
How are you doing all that on the stock computer?
Yes please explain more I'm very interested how the stock 94 truck controller is working out? Did u piggyback that system or anything? How are tuning for that much boost?
As some by the way
Come on, everyone is waiting for you to release more videos of this engine!
very nice, what does fully built entail? what kind of efi system are you using? and turbo type, fuel, tell us all about it man! great job!
Yes, next uprgrade is aluminum flywheel and currently just bought a turbonetics t3/t4oe.
Good on ya mate...I have a 1963 Datsun Bluebird...U ROCK!!
