Im pretty sure unlike nintendo games, all playstation games require downloads from the disc and the disc itself doesn't include the game, so far all of my games require downloads for my ps5 even with discs.

@@piewy2196 interesting, it's almost been the complete opposite for me. I think all of my physical copies are entirely contained on the disc excl patches and DLC.

@party_boy69 I could be wrong tho, the discs might contain some of the game's files for download but I don't think they run off the discs.

@@piewy2196 This is both correct and incorrect.. Metaphor, and most PS5 games (including all of Sony's first party titles) can be played on a PS5 that is not and has never been connected to the internet. Obviously the experience will often be worse cause you will miss update patches that include bug fixes. But internet connection is not required to run the game. You can test this yourself, disconnect your PS5 from the internet, put in a game you do not have installed, and then play it. It will work with the exception of some multiplayer games and some very rare cases of single player games (like the spyro trilogy only including the first game on disc). But you are correct that the game downloads off the disc, then plays off of the SSD inside of the PS5. It does not play off the disc. So where you are incorrect is saying the disc does not include the game, that is false. Otherwise what would it be downloading off of the disc?

You can play the game totally offline, having never connected to the internet. I have done it, I can confirm it works.

I bought two white ps5 controllers at the console's launch. One began drifting after three years and the other just started drifting. I bought a blue ps5 controller last year and have had no problems at all with it. The newer version ps5 controllers have much better durability and resistance to drift.

See that normally would be true if we didn't have to wait almost 4 years between *any* new Astro game. Astro Bot as a series being centralized around AAA 3D platformers is logical. But think of Mario again: how many Mario games are on the Switch, vs how many are platformers? There are dozens of Mario games on the Switch, yet only 3 of them - odyssey, Maker 2 and Wonder - fit into its core identity as a AAA platformer series. All the others are spinoffs or in other genres. Imagine if those 3 games were the only Mario games on the Switch. That's basically the situation Sony has put Astro into. They created this fantastically charming mascot, then locked him up in a small studio in Japan and no one else is allowed to touch him. The result is, after almost 4 years, getting a game that acts like no time at all has passed. Astro's Playroom, as a celebration, worked well partly because it was the first game on the PS5 and meant to get people excited for the future. Now we're four years later, and Astro Bot is acting like that future is still coming. He's still riding on a Dualsense and following a giant PS5 Spaceship like everything is so perfect, mere minutes after Sony just showed everyone Concord. As you say, Astro's Playroom wowed everyone with its use of the dualsense and its charm. Those aren't things that can only be expressed in a 3D platformer. When it takes 4 years to make a new game, and No other studio is allowed to make spinoffs in the mean time, it is in my opinion that diversifying the experience becomes a lot more important, rather than making another game in a genre the PS5 already has a lot of. That's why I call it a waste to recreate the same kind of game every 4 years rather than using Team Asobi's talent to bring a different experience. Because at this rate we will be lucky if we get a different type of Astro game - where he's not just playing with cameos and the controller - this generation, which he's supposed to be the fuckin' mascot of.

@@TalkingHandsChannel I get the frustration, but comparing Mario nowadays with Astro Bot wouldn't be fair, which is why I went with his beginnings instead, games take a long fucking time to make. Not to mention that PlayStation owned studios usually handle their own franchises and very rarely do other studios (and after Sanzaru killed Sly Cooper and LBP3 came out in a deplorable state without Mm, I think people prefer it that way). As per word of the devs, they wanted to do the character collecting now that the hardware stuff was out of the way and I'm a very firm believer of letting devs do what they want. Not that it's unrealistic to expect more from the little bot, but most people who come to this brand expect and want single player experiences, Helldivers 2 was the exception, which is why it released immediately on PC as opposed to doing a port years later. There's zero pressure to expect, idk, Astro's Party or whatever because there's no demand for it, and I've seen more complains that the game has no PSVR2 functionality than what you want. This is what my point boils down to: Devs wanting to do the character collecting, people demanding more tonally silly games/platformers, the bots as they are being easy blank slates, franchises rarely being shared between studios, and the expectations of what PlayStation deliveres. Even if they did a party game, the "Clony" imbeciles will assume that they copied Mario Party the moment it's shown, and the people who liked Astro's Playroom wouldn't like something like this. But even then, I could be wrong, management changed and if fucking Horizon got something as unlikely as a LEGO game, maybe your idea ain't so far fetched.

I know most people are satisfied with Astro Bot being essentially a bigger version of Astro's Playroom, because it's Not another live service game or a cinematic story driven adventure game. It was an absolute breath of fresh air compared to the other games shown in its State of Play. But it's not what's best for the series, the character, or the console. It's stagnation.

​@TalkingHandsChannel it's because the series only got popular through astros playroom, and so this was more like a sequel than anything, despite it being the 3rd game. I'm pretty sure it's gonna get so much better later

3D platformers never went anywhere. We have lots on PS5 like Sackboy, Ratchet and Clank, plus tons of Indie games. What we don't have are good party games or games that can be played by multiple people in the same room. Astro was the perfect series to fill that gap, but instead they just saw what worked last time and did basically the exact same thing again.

@@TalkingHandsChannel sony is really pushing this game and for a good reason as well, look at Microsoft they would already have remade Banjo-Kazooie if they saw there was a market for it, but there isn't really. Sackboy and Ratchet aren't nearly as successful as God of War or Horizon, hence why they don't make many games like those. Even if I'm wrong, your original argument in the video is stupid.

Microsoft is even worse at this issue. However Sackboy & Ratchet don't get as many games, not because there isn't a market for them, but simply because the original devs are too busy with other projects and Sony refuses to license them out to outside companies. There's no reason we should only get one R&C game and one Sackboy game per console generation, yet that's what's happening. Astro is repeating this cycle; we waited almost 4 whole years for this game. Astro has been pitched as the PS5's mascot, but after 4 years he's gotten 2 games, both with almost the exact same premise, style, etc, which add up to about 20 hours of gameplay total. And after it comes out, we will almost certainly wait another almost 4 years just for the same type of game again. That is why I said Astro is the epitome of what's wrong with Sony. Yes it's going to be a good game, but it's a good game that takes no risks and that will not give us any new type of experience.

At a surface level that's true, except there is no reason to ever play a ps4 version of a game if you own a PS5. I never owned a ps4 so I don't have a proper viewpoint.
