Umbrellas - Spontaneous painting with 3 randomly picked colours
It has been a while!! A lot has happened since I last posted about 18months ago. I am now a resident of Prince Edward Island (Canada) and moved here from Ottawa (about 1200km away!!!). The studio is reset but it feels weird still so I decided to fall back to my practice of doing quick little paintings with 3 random colours I picked.
Watercolours used are my ever trusty whole pans from Wallace Seymour.
In this painting I used the 3 colours I picked from my "treasure chest":
Manganese Blue, Ultramarine Pink and Cobalt Yellow. It was a fun combo for sure! I will try to do another painting more nature based with them, for now I just had fun with umbrellas.
The painting was done on 300lbs, Arches, 100% cotton paper.

Horse's eye - Work in Progress
Переглядів 20Рік тому
This is the beautiful face of a horse I saw at a ranch! There was so much tenderness in her eyes, I am trying to capture this. This is a part of the progress of it, 2nd layer! I forgot to turn the camera on when I painted the eye itself though... Sorry! The painting was done on stretched linen, 25cm x 25cm, using Wallace Seymour surface preparation and oil paints. My go-to products are from Wal...
Arctic Wolves - 1st layer Timelapse

This canvas is 24"x48". I initially wanted to paint an alligator on it so I prepared the surface with black gesso but decided otherwise when I started to draw. It was a bit of a pain to try to cover all that black. This place or animals do not really exists, they are tidbits from places I visited such as Park Omega in Quebec. Stay tuned for Layer 2.... once this layer is dry! www.chantaldupuis....
Active Seas - Abstract painting with textured surface
Переглядів 93Рік тому
3rd piece in this style, all 3 are ocean themed because.... that's how I feel I guess! I love how you can see shadows of creatures (whales? dolphins? sharks?) in the depth. I might name them accordingly but for now I am going with basic titles until I decide what to do with these pieces. I know NOTHING about this style or practice, I normally paint realist stuff so this is a real fun game! I ju...
Yellow Ochre - Acrylic paint experiment
Переглядів 41Рік тому
Here we go! Making yellow ochre now but in acrylic! I want to do more studies with the classical (Flemish) method and, since I don't paint at all with acrylics, I was a bit stumped when the lesson I am following said to do that very first layer in yellow ochre acrylic. Well.... nothing can stop me! I have the pigment, the medium and, of course, water! So there. This is my experiment. It worked ...
Burnt Sienna - Watercolour paint making experiment
Переглядів 512 роки тому
Take 2! Making Burnt Sienna now. Same idea. This time I think I put in more pigment because the amount of gum arabic and honey was almost double what it was for the other pigments. I decided to try the new muller I just bought.... no clue if it needed it, the texture seemed pretty smooth but I gave it a whirl for about 5 minutes. Kind of hypnotizing if you ask me... all fun!! Remember, I know N...
Yellow Ochre - Watercolour paint making experiment

I LOVE experimenting with anything colour or art related! I have had a bunch of pigments ordered from Wallace Seymour for, shamefully, a few years now. A friend just came back from an Artist in Residence gig in Nice and I couldn't resist ordering a bunch more through her when she sent me the photo of the "candy" store she was in! And voila, I grabbed what I had on hand and decided to experiment...
Sketchbook Tour #1 - Travel
Переглядів 632 роки тому
This is my first sketchbook that is completed that is totally dedicated to one theme.... travel! In it is a mixed between our trips to the East coast of Canada (Newfoundland and PEI) and our cruises. It is fun to look back and remember those moments. Not all sketches are good but they are all great memories. My travel kit for this is a mix of watercolours from Danielle Smith and Holbein. I used...
Stretching and folding corners of my canvases
Переглядів 752 роки тому
This is my method, dunno if someone else does it that way but it was taught to me by my teacher in my local art store. I do this with either linen or cotton fabric, it works the same for both fabric. I am picky with my corners, it took me a while to figure out how I wanted to fold them and ended up just undoing one corner of a pre-stretched canvas I had and liked and learned from that. Products...
My Watercolour Travel Kit has personality!
Переглядів 942 роки тому
My trusty travel and plein air watercolour kit. This fits in any of my bags, it is only a quick grab and go and I have everything (and more!) than I need especially with the mix of colours from the 2 palettes. I found this pencil case on sale at Staples MANY years ago, for $2 I just couldn't resist because it made me laugh. ZipIt is now my "side kick"!! Products used: Art Tool Kit palette Porta...
Salty Day at the Rock - Timelapse video of this watercolour painting
Переглядів 2932 роки тому
This is a representation of a place we visited in Newfoundland in 2019. This view was from our zodiac just before we went snorkeling. (YES... full wet suits and it was cooooold!!!) The painting was done on 100% cotton watercolour paper using Wallace Seymour wholepan watercolours.. My go-to products are from Wallace Seymour Fine Art Products, I just LOVE the pigmentation in those paints!! Shop: ...
Pick 3 - Challenge #9 - Spontaneous Watercolor Painting
Переглядів 622 роки тому
This was fun!! I had forgotten how watercolors can just bring you over a completely different path than what you intended! I have been away from them for too long. Watercolours used are my ever trusty whole pans from Wallace Seymour. In this painting I used the 3 colours I picked from my "treasure chest": Ultramarine Blue, Alazarin Crimson and Permanent Yellow. WHAT A COMBO! I could paint with ...
Wood Panel Surface Preparation - Size, Primer and Gesso on 6mm Birch Wood papel
Переглядів 512 роки тому
This is my process! How I prepare all of the wood panels I use for either my more serious sketches or for the smaller originals I create in oil, acrylic or casein paints. I ALWAYS use 6mm thickness. If you use anything smaller than 6mm it will warp. There are ways to get around that but I just prefer a stronger surface. I prepare my canvases and linens a bit differently, I could cover that in a...

I really enjoy watching the process. Lovely picture.💕
Wow!! Such beautiful work!! The watercolor really made the lighthouse stand out. Thanks for sharing your work. Even though I’m new to cross stitch I hope to try watercolor on some of the simple patterns. I look forward to other videos like this. ❤
Sorry, it looks like an interesting video but sadly the sound quality made it difficult to hear.
I’m so intrigued by these particular watercolors. Thank you.
They are interesting! Definitely needs some testing to get the hang of them and understand how each colour behave but the results are beautiful!
Great kit, where did you say you got the make up brushes.?
They are for nail art. Ordered a few years ago on Amazon. Cheap portable detail brush back when travel brushes were not as available.
Reminds me of a friends’ New ZeLand farm on an inlet. Beautiful work.
Thank you!
wow
excellen ,:)
WOW!!! It is so much more impressive seeing your dragonfly in video versus in pictures. Amazing, well done.
Thanks Sheila!! Hoping to have her done soon!
Chantal, to open the Jackson's boxes, find a corner and pull on the tape off. The tape they use is brilliant, on the one hand it's very adhesive, but at the same time it pulls off neatly, which is nice, as it is paper based, so in theory you could leave it on, but if you want to be an especially good citizen and recycle your cardboard the way you are meant to do it, you are supposed to remove the tape, and Jackson makes that job really easier for us. I keep meaning to check the site to see if they sell it. But there is always something more "arty" that takes priority. Imagine saving the time and helping the environment at the same time. Why don't they all use tape like that?
Thank you Fran! I recycle everything I can. If I ever buy the Jackson products I will remember your advice.
Awesome
Thank you!
Какой Вы счастливый человек! 👍Удачи в творчестве! 💐

A great loss to the harp community. Live on in music. -- Ray Pool
It weighs 25 pounds Tiffanny! Check out Dave's website (www.heartlandharps.com/model-starlight.html) for more info and pix!
Isn’t it 38 pounds?
@@dustystrings36 it could be. That was the prototype in 2013, not sure what it weighs now but at that time it was advertised as 25lbs. 38lbs is still pretty amazing for a full pedal harp.
How many pounds does the harp weigh?
According to the website, it weighs 38…still very light! I have the Legend lever harp. It weighs 10.6 lbs.
This is so nice! :)
