Dutch is a con man, he had them all conned thinking they were like some sort of Robin Hood, weren't like those others, sure there were things they didn't do but Arthur says it at the start "We're bad men but we aint them" Dutch didn't live by the "rules and ethics" of the camp, you see this a few times, mostly when Molly gets killed, he was about to talk Mrs Grimshaw round Mika coming in and trying to take over is what shattered the illussion for Arthur, this was a bad guy but Dutch kept him around because he made money. He knew what Strauss was but kept him around because he made money. The whole saving up to buy land somewhere was a dream he sold them all, more than once in the history of the gang they could have done it. Trouble with Dutch though is he conned himself, he was the man, he was Robin hood, he was the last bastion of true freedom in the place, he believed his own BS and its only after what he actually cared about was gone, the things he took for granted, his relationships with Molly, Arthur and Hosea that he cracked people that had always been there, others came and were lost, The only time he's on screen and never says a word is at Arthurs death, He's got no con, no grand speech, he's listening to the last words of one of the last thing he cares about and he's got nothing, he walks away, he must have come to terms with at least that because he turns up with Mika.

Dutch didn't change. He'd just shown who he really was. A change would be someone like Javier.

The fact that Dutch is a maniac and he sees himself through Micah. ruthless and dangerous man he is. People in the camp have different traits but they are all balanced. Hosea and Arthur are Dutch's best men and guardians but he needs to be more forceful like Micah. That's why he sided on Micah. He already knew to himself that the gang wouldn't last long. it's imminent. His plans opposes his words and wisdom. That's what i see in Dutch. But he got the best guys; Marston, Escuella, Lenny, Williamson, Sean, Kieran, Adler, Smith, the best robbery they only had was with Karen

RDR3 has to be about Dutch's story. It's the only thing that makes sense.
