The Road to Glory: Doug Miller and the 1999 Open Cup Rhinos | Eleven Series
Переглядів 1,2 тис.9 місяців тому
It was the biggest upset in American soccer history. Doug Miller played professionally across four decades, earned MVPs in three different ones, and scored 530 goals in total, but none was more special than the one that gave the Rochester Raging Rhinos the 1999 US Open Cup. To date, it’s the only time a non-first-division club has won the title in the MLS era, but that's only a fraction of ever...

My boss fled Iran and settled in England during the Iranian Revolution. In his late terns he came to the states and came to try out for whatever team trained at the Coliseum. As him and other dudes were getting ready a lady pulled uo and asked what they were doing. “Ma’am we are getting ready to try out”. She replied “what do you mean, the league went under already. It no longer exists”. I may have butchered a bit but man was that a hard story to hear.
football
It looks more like a Nike soccer fan
I've got that Pele & Sergio Mendez Album he has hanging on his wall! Lots of cool stuff!
Very cool..! I remember having that pele flip book when I was a kid..🤘
Regards from Menéndez Pelayo, Pablo!
Very impressive! Love it ❤ All the best from 🇩🇪
Very Good . Well Done . I travelled to USA 94 on 3 occasions from England .. watching 6 games . I really enjoyed it .
Thank you Peter. Hope to see you back on this side of the pond in ‘26!
He has an affect like David Foster Wallace, but he's into soccer instead of tennis!
Great doc
love this so much. fantastic story telling!
coolest video I've seen in a long time , what a collection!
Thank you!
I spent the day with the irish national team in 1994. I left with 7 autographed jerseys and 2 autographed balls. 94 WC was great Just in case ur wondering im irish.
'bout time that ya'll change the name to it's original name.. ''Football''. The original Football. American Football should be called American rugby or something, not football. Makes no sense when you barely have to use your feet to kick the ball.
The Chrome Silver boots from Ronaldo Fenomeno... this was my idol as a kid and I was lucky to save up and afford these boots. I felt like my skill doubled instantly when I put them on. I still have them today, although they are in poor condition nowadays, as well as the Copper Brown R9 soft ground.
Grêmio
I’ve never heard anyone else describe themselves exactly the way I describe myself. “Some people when they find one little chunk of information out they’re satisfied with that. And there’s other people who are like, No. I need to know like everything about this in absurd detail.” That’s me. First thing I did when I became a soccer fan was read the largest, most comprehensive book about the sport that I could find. The Ball is Round: A Global History of Soccer, by David Goldblatt. Then read everything else I could get my hands on.
Calling it soccer makes the whole thing worthless It is Football!!!!
This is grailed? Can’t even pronounce all the proper names 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Cool dude
Extremely dope. I've talked my fair share of shit to Pablo on Twitter as a DC United fan but he is undoubtedly a very interesting guy and I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of his collection and experiences.
I have never wanted anything more then that Japanese pele poster.
Vannistelroy with long hair!
Tab Ramos jugo en mis Tigres; ese fue un gran mundial, Eric Wynalda, lalas, balboa (que jugo en Leon), coby jones, tony meola....etc.
It’s really to see a different side to collecting. There is definitely something of value and worth when it is more than just the shirt. The history behind the thing and the story behind it. I am personally a kit collector, and at many points it feels quite empty as compared to the 10 shirts you may own in your closet because The desire for more information that you uncovered in the process.
nice
Wow. Great content!

I was 5 during the 86WC which I don't remember watching, I sporadically watched the 90WC. But I watched every single game in the 94WC. 94 is when I began to love soccer. Can't wait for 2026!

This is why I have not thrown away a single Minnesota minor league soccer item ever.
Vamo gremiooooo!
Soccer fan🤓
I'm not even remotely interested in Soccer whatsoever..in fact, I really dislike it. But I can appreciate what this dude is doing to preserve a forgotten moment in time. i love retro sports attire so from that aspect this got me hooked.
Binch of trash
American USA SOCCER SUCKS!!! It will be another 30 years till USA even gets close to a World Cup. The definition of a great country in soccer is dependent on if they win a World Cup or come close.
I also like to collect vintage soccer stuff and mostly US vintage soccer stuff I have a cisl jersey and a misl jersey some other stuff as well.
Soccer mehhh nobody going to take you guys seriously until you start saying football.
Side note cool video though !
Thank you!
