    Good for hallow core doors. Not drywall

    • @MrNathaneasterling
      @MrNathaneasterling Місяць тому

      Those patches have been in that house for about 5 years and not one has had an issue through multiple renters. Hollow core doors get touched about 50 times a day and the holes that I patch are all about 4" from the ceiling or directly underneath the windows and a piece of trim was covering most of it. I really don't see the problem. I have lots of comments on this video saying pretty much the same thing, most of them start with journeyman drywaller here and then explain why these patches are going to somehow jump out of the wall. I hope you don't take this comment as me being rude, I genuinely enjoy interacting with people on here. Even if we disagree 😁👍

      Well a few reasons for me anyway I'm not saying anyone should or shouldn't do anything but I wouldn't want to get it in my grout lines and risk it oozing out because it would be a nightmare to get off of the tile and also they would be a whole lot of wasted material rather than just individually sticking them. With Subway tile or something along those lines it's not near as tedious as it looks in the video and honestly it wasn't that tedious for what I did either. Most of the time I had one guy putting the glue on faster than I could put them on the wall

      The wall insulation is cellulose below in. So the machine that does the blow in has around a 2 and 1/2-in pipe that has to fit well into the void in the wall and then you also have to have enough room for the air to escape out of the wall while the machine is working

The only reason drywall needs to be taped is because of drywall mud that is not setting type. The drying type mud shrinks very significantly the setting type shrinks a very small amount and only when it is setting

      Thank you I really appreciate that. I have other videos on ways that I would highly suggest over this way but this is just one of those things I did when I was in a bind and most of the patches are way up on the wall about 4 in from the ceiling so yes if someone were to directly poke them it would probably give right in but so far it's been like 5 years I still own that house, been through multiple renters and not one poke has happened 😂 😁👍

      I should have for the video. Honestly I know those will just rip downward with too much weight just because I've seen it before. And they're not rated for a very high weight anyway but those are better every day of the week for hanging pictures and what not then anything else in my opinion. Very permanent yet leaves a very small hole if you want to take it down. 😁👍

      @@MrNathaneasterling Hi, I appreciate your fast response! I'm currently looking at both the 30lb and 50lb rated versions, and was really looking to find any sort of load testing to validate the rating, or disprove it. I haven't been able to find anyone showing a fail as of yet. I've only found the odd comment from a few folks that said the same as you, but no real tests showing it. Usually if something sucks really bad and doesn't deliver, there's usually a review somewhere proving it. I like the idea of these, especially if I have a bunch of big pictures to hang. I like the idea of minimizing damage to the walls.

      @trevinated well I can tell you the ones that kind of look like golf tees and are green I definitely do not recommend. But for the most part my general rule of thumb is if it's too heavy to use a Hercules hook figure out a way to use a toggle bolt. They are by far the best way to hang a heavy items other than putting a screw directly into a stud behind the drywall. If you can do that then you can hang whatever you'd like. When it comes down to it, a screw in a stud #1 toggle bolt #2 and Hercules hook for any lightweight stuff... All of that would be my opinion on the matter 😁👍

      No it's the house I spent my life savings on to buy, I lived in it for many years and would still be living there if we didn't need the extra room for a baby's room. It's the house I carried my wife over the threshold of after we got married so it means a lot to me. We moved from that house in 2019 (when I made that video) and still no issues with any of those patches.

      That looks great idea but I wouldn’t do that. But to each is own. That’s your house personal preference I guess but that is smart but crazy at the same time.

    Fast Cover Up. 😇 i say,,You cut the same size hole for the blower. Pre-cut 150 Round Plugs with Smiley Faces

      😂 It's been years but I think the reason for the 4-in holes was to be able to maneuver the blower somewhat and also make the corner into the walk cavity. Honestly if I had to do it over again I would just cut a strip all the way across the room and just patch it with a large strip of drywall like a 3-in or 4-in strip of drywall

      This was more along the lines of the "I got multiple quotes for around $20 (x150) a hole and then I had a bunch of people that came out and just didn't want to do it so I did it myself and it's been 5 years and it's still perfectly fine... Special, but yes I still own that house so I am the landlord so either one works 😂
