Late night building the Mode Encore R2
*this video is a personal build and is not sponsored by any brands. However, the switches were sent to me by Unikeys
This is a bit different from my usual videos, and I'm planning to do these late-night building videos for personal projects. Should I make this a series? What do you think? I apologize if the lighting is an issue here, but I want the video to feel simple, cozy, and relaxing-without focusing on color accuracy, complete builds with foams/no foams, mounting styles, or multiple sound tests.
I managed to get an Encore during the last drop on Mode's website. I love the aesthetics of the board and that's the main reason I got it. It took me a lot of thinking because I don't really need a 65% keyboard, and I heard that it sounds similar to the Mode65, which I already own. However, when Mode announced the second drop with the Dawn weight, I gave in to temptation😩 The Dawn color is just so beautiful!
As expected, the Encore sounds great just like the Mode65. Their sound profiles are very similar, especially since the mounting style is the same. However, the Encore obviously wins in terms of aesthetics :)

BK75 by Velocifire
Переглядів 738День тому
*this board was sent to me by Velocifire Another pre-built before we end 2024! I still prefer custom keyboards but I was interested in the built in wrist rest on this board. The board came pre-built with keycaps, switches, stabs and all the foams you can think of. If you're in the market to look for a thocky, creamy, marbly board with pretty keycap design, you may want to consider this board. I...
ND TKL by Chilkey showcase

After the success of ND75, @Chilkey released a TKL version and they sent out 2 units for me to check out! I am going to be honest with you and say that I will never reach out for pre-built keyboards personally. However, I still showcase pre-built boards on my channel because I know a lot of new people or beginners in the hobby prefer a pre-built rather than a more customized board. And I hope m...

*this board was sent to me by Akko You may want to skip 02:00-03:05 if you have photosensitive epilepsy I apologize if the lighting is bad but I prefer to shoot this at night to showcase the beautiful RGB of this board. We are looking at another pre-built keyboard but what caught my attention was the resin case. I enjoy the aesthetic of resin so I agreed to take a look at this board. I am also ...

*this board was sent to me by LAZYDESIGNERS @jackylijun I built the Duo40 earlier this year and that board blew me away. Still my best 40% thus far. Hence I was super excited when I learned that Jacky (LAZYDESIGNERS) is designing a 60% version of it. A lot of people also reached out to me saying that they love the Duo40 but do not like 40%. If the Duo40 speaks to you then you'll be very happy t...

This time we are looking at a 40% board from Wind Studio called the Hola Mini! This is also my first time trying a Wind Studio board so I'm quite excited and did not know what to expect. Air96 v2 by NuPhy

*this board was sent to me by NuPhy Today's video features a pre-built low profile compact full-sized mechanical board from NuPhy, the Air96 v2. Although modding the board is possible, I did not showcase it. NuPhy does not recommend disassembling this board by yourself as the cases were held by clips which may break. I recently looked at the Nos75 so this is not my first kiw profile board. I pe...

*this board was sent to me by Swagkeys *If you notice the sound volume difference in the sound tests, I did not manipulate the volume at all. This board features the same easy assembly/disassembly of the case as well as magnetic connectio...

*this board was sent to me by NuPhy Today's video features a low profile pre-built 75% board from NuPhy, the Nos75. This is my first time trying out a low profile keyboard and to be honest, low profile boards are not exactly my cup of tea. Plus the 75% layout is also not my favourite. But these are just my personal preferences. This board sounds and feels better with all the foams, as with othe...

*this is not a sponsored board This is the first LAZYDESIGNERS board I owned that does not sound like top mount at all! (Listen to my Cloud or Dimple build and you'll get what I mean) The TK40X does not have the hollow or metallic sound when typing and I LOVE THE SOUND SIGNATURE. This and the Duo40 have got to be my favourite LAZYDESIGNERS boards to date. I did not plan to get this at all so I ...

Nice build!
Soo cozyy 🥺
Thank you🥺
I got the same one!
Love this style of video. Hope you do more. Thanks for supporting the project!
Thank you so much Matt🙏
what do you think about the switches?
The sound leans more towards the deeper side and sound and feel great stock. Keygeek is definitely up there together with HMX so i recommend either. This is a nice change from all the high pitched HMX switches I’ve been using recently
@@key_rist very appreciated! thanks
Great video still need build mine
I like your style. That is not all; but that’s more than enough. Great content.
Whats your favourite config?
I personally love isolated bottom+pp plate+case foam with high pitched switches
Hi, does the foam and stabs come with it or is a separate purchase?
Yes they come with the keyboard
@@key_rist Thank you! I'm going to get this keyboard.
I personally think that this is not worth unless you really but really want a screen since the evo80 is just this without all the gimmicks
That’s true but the typing sounds are different on both. Evo80 sounds deeper and “creamier” while the QK80 is more on the higher pitched side. If you don’t care for screens, I also highly recommend the Neo80! But at the end of the day, it greatly depends on your preference tbh
Finally bk75 getting some love
5:03 I love that you boop-booped the gaskets :D
I realized I like to “boop boop” the gaskets in every single build😂
Every part is fantastic and perfect looking except that oddly looking c-type port. Should've looked better if the keyboard case was 90° with the ground so that the case could cover the port.
Whats that lil desk mat?
The qqmat from qwertyqop
great vid! do you have the measurements of the badge on the back?
Mad respect for that amount of sound tests, I would lose my mind. Goat
Thank you so much🙏
Amazing.
Thanks for the video ❤️ I bought the white version and can't believe they didn't include a top mount option like they did for the ND75! Also, for the next version of this keyboard they need to get rid of the useless self illuminating garbage and have a proper status LED.
I think they removed the top mount cause it would be challenging to open the top case with the ball catch system! I remember I had a hard time trying to remove the top case😂
@@key_rist Hah yep! Experienced the very same thing 😅
Thank you for the sound test of so many configuration, i went with the pp plate with plate + case foam and it sounds awesome
How do you tell when it is charged for wireless?
When in wired mode (charging), press Fn+D and the ESC key backlight will display the current charging status: rapid flashing for charging, green for 100% When in wireless mode, press Fn+D and ESC backlight will show either: red for 0%-9%, yellow for 10%-49%, blue for 50%-79%, and green for 80%-100%
this is why you're the channel i always go to for sound tests, maximum effort <3 i also love the silica mount! great vid <3
What a gorgeous build! I cannot believe however that each artisan is almost $40! Thats almost $160 just for 4 artisans to complete the build! Bloody insanity 😖 Otherwise the rest of the build is lovely 😍
Good thing artisans are optional for the build🤭
always love finding a keyboard content creator who actually quiets the music when typing, 10/10 video!
V nice keyboard, seems hard to get hold of in UK so, got the Lucky65 v2. Hola quite pricey too. Weikav seem reasonably priced for their switches too, got 70 baby kangaroos for $43! Thanks for video!
Sounds like a super fun build!
very nice Build & sound tests
Am i supposed to poke the switches trough the thin layer on top of the pcb? Thx in advance for any help!
Do you mean the pe foam? Then yes you should be poking though the pe foam into the socket. But make sure there is support under the PCB when you do that to avoid the sockets popping out
is it more creamy, clacky, or thocky? i'm new to this and i can't tell the difference yet
I think those terms are quite subjective as it highly depends on each individual. I personally think this board leans toward clacky. But some may think it’s also creamy?
Oh wow, the V3 piano pro is in white? Is there any difference between the white and the white-black that you notice?
I’ve never tried the white black version!
@key_rist ahh i see then. Thank you!
Holy shit this is fucking beautiful
So expensive
Case foams only sounded really nice. Thin and just poppy enough. But, is the decibel difference as pronounced irl as it is on the video? Full foam sounds really loud compared to the others.
this keeb doesn't have CNC feet bruh
Nive video!
I bought this
Wonderful to see the PCB supports Split Backspace, Split Right Shift, Stepped CapsLock and 7U Bottom row; now I'll wait until Jacky makes it a 65% board. Thank you very much for such a beautiful video!
Great video! Sounds great, I need to get me some macchiatos to try
Macchiatos are my favourite HMX switches!
This keyboard is gorgeous. Lazydesigners always make the best keyboards
Did you do some mod with your MP Tactiles? Like Spring swap, or some lubes maybe? Thank you 😊
No they are stock
@key_rist no spring crunch whatsoever?
I have a cidoo amb066 Alice keeb for my first Alice and now I can’t go back lol. I’m either gonna get a neo ergo by saving up or get a keychron idk what to do ✨🙏😭
I would save up for the Neo ergo. It’s really good and highly recommend it
Wow, no foam still have good sound.
❤
How to put this board in sleep mode?
Sell it in Singapore soon
why is the power switch hidden
hello, is another keyboard you can recommend with a translucent case?
love the ungodly amount of layers of foam
It looks super cute and the design is pretty awesome! I do think the side bezels are just a bit too thin for a tiny keebie like this; it somehow makes it look cheap while the rest looks pretty special and custom and sophisticated! Oh and.. very professional video! I'm subbing.
This or Neo 75 CU?
Neo75cu for me even tho I dislike 75%😅
Could explain pour choice?
depends on what your looking for. If you want a clean and aesthetically pleasing keyboard then the neo75cu is for you but if you want something with leafspring mount that has a kind off futuristic look with all the gimicks such as a screen and light thingy then the qk80 mk2 is for you but
I'm curious, I don't see a backspace, and whats the center do, the one between the spacebars.
You can build it with the backspace key but I chose iso layout for this. Since the proto PCB has only fixed split left shift, I just had to also do an iso enter. As for backspace, I do combo keys P+enter as how I also do it on a QAZ layout. The key between the spacebars is the fn key and it activates a layer (for example fn+q gives you 1). But you can remap that key to use for just about anything on VIAL
Such a cute board! I love how you have an external mic sound test AND a camera mic test. Very helpful ^^
