Doing a bit of Rabbit Control on the Yorkshire Dales on one of my permissions. I haven't got a gun dog like a Spaniel or Labrador but my old retired Lurcher likes to accompany me when I'm shooting day or night. She loves it at night because I can go into a field and shoot half a dozen rabbits, Then when I'm done I get the little lamp out and I point her to the bunnies and she trots off thinking...

No nets ferreting rabbits. I've been doing it this way for many many years. Notice the other dogs in the background also doing the same, They don't run in and get involved with my 2 dogs. That takes a lot of time and a lot of rabbits before they get to understand whats required. Had to bring the old girl out to show the puppy. How the job is supposed be done. Doris is Betty’s mother, and she is 11 years old and retired a few years ago. Betty has been catching squirrels in the local park and just turned her into a crazy dog so we thought we bring her old mother out and show her how the job is supposed to be done properly.

A quick drone camera video shot of a typical steep banking on the Yorkshire Dales where you sometimes find way too many holes to put purse nets down and long nets are a long hard carry when your working alone and you've got to carry all of the gear a long way to get up there. So I have my two old lurchers and two hob ferrets and no nets travelling lightly and hopefully returning heavily loaded....

Hornets nest inside bird box on garden. Treated with PerbioChoc RTU and knocked down the attackers with Digrain.

It certainly is old chap. I’m getting old myself for this game. Long nights and days. I’ve been doing a lot more of the paid professional work these last few years and the Dales has been more for getting the dogs and ferrets out for some training and learning whilst on the job. Hope you and yours are all ok buddy. 👍

Thanks. I always chuckle to myself when I hear folk with Dogs and ferrets say... " oh them Dales rabbits are easy " I've seen a few dogs last less than an hour on banking's like this. especially when there's that scree/ slate types stuff in between patches of warrens, That stuff is like razor blades to an over enthusiastic dog.
Nothing like that in Devon and Cornwall well not on my permissions haha good luck this season

That looks like the two hornet nest l got out of trees. It was cold weather Hornets gone to Florida, stood up on the back of my horse to reach one of them.
