    Impressive Sir. Thank you very much for the great detail. It’s been a few years, may I ask if the system is still working well or do you have any new insights? Again thank you very much for this video. It’s been very inspiring.

    I have watched several of you videos and when you have extra power you could charge some lifepo4 batteries. This guy uses some lifepo4 batteries to charge the lead acid in the night. ua-cam.com/video/_G-zXKkwT3w/v-deo.html I am not sure if this is the video where he talks about it. With the low self discharge with lifepo4 batteries you could have them charged for a much longer time than lead acid. Something to think about. I hope things are going well for you.

    Could the hot air be pumped through a sand heat storage to make heat available later into the night?

    Great video and great ideas. I'm in Northern Ontario with same snow challenges. Curious how the panels are mounted on the house. Do you mount a railing to the house or are panels mounted directly to the house? If you have a video on install, can you point me to which one. Many thanks.

    This is a great video thank you for sharing the information with us. I just have a question about the cold air flow pipe that leaves the home going back into the system. Shouldn't the cold air exit intake back close to the floor inside considering that is where normal cooler air is located in a home? Just asking.

    Thanks for the video. Having PV on a roof and in my field I agree with your idea of putting them on the house sides. In snow shed areas you just don't want panels on the roof, you'll lose a couple of months of energy production. With long summer days we always generate enough to run everything and keep the batteries charged but not in the winter with its short days.

    Ok, first thanks for your videos and explanations. 1. Burning wood makes 2.5x the GHG as does propane so why all the concern about LPG and not burning wood? 2. How do your solar air heaters work? Do you have to run a fan or are they convective? 3. I would certainly move to a lithium battery bank for the same amount of battery (I'm guessing 20kWh of which you can only use 50%) you would be able to use probably 17 or 18 kWh. So, you'd be able to go longer before having to run the generator saving the carbon. Also there is no maintenance or hazardous vapors etc. 4. What is your typical indoor temperature in the winter? 5. Do you have an ERV? If not, what about condensation and internal air quality? Again, thanks for your time. Henri.

  • @henrivanbemmel
    @henrivanbemmel 10 місяців тому

    In my on the grid home I use about 3kWh per day when we are away on vacation. This averages out to the fridge and freezer and not much else. A mean power if about 250W. At night, we might use 2 kWh in the summer and not much more in the winter as when we go to bed the home is ~18.5C and I've set the furnace to 14C overnight. Most mornings the temp is still 15+C so, our winter night use is not much different as the furnace almost never comes on. You say that you're down 20%, but I guess that would include the previous night's dinner, evening activities along with breakfast. If you can give energy in kWh rather than % it helps those of us comparing our situation with yours. How large is your battery bank in kWh? How far down do you let the discharge go? If you had LFE batteries you can run then down ~10% so it's almost 2 for 1 and they're maintenance free. I like your fridge and freezer switches. I didn't know they existed. On grid, they probably aren't worth it, but off-grid you're just trying to make through so the rational changes! Thanks for sharing.

  • @henrivanbemmel
    @henrivanbemmel 10 місяців тому

    Perhaps you will get to it, but your batteries appeared to be lead acid. If so, why would you not use lithium iron phosphate batteries? Why not heat with propane vs. wood stove? Burning wood produces 2.5 more GHG than does gas heating.

    @ 7:54 "it was glorious.." I like that. The thoughts & explanation of why you went off grid are genuine & true. I mean sure the investment is costly but it's also energy independence. One other thing about panels on roofs I don't like is the extra heat that reduces efficiency in summer. I also understand some might not have a lot of space for ground mounts. One other note please don't take it personally, but that light purple/pink chair on the deck needs to go. Cheers.

    you should build to sell people will buy them.. I would buy one myself. I have a huge patio sliding glass door. I could prop one in the open sliding door and it would heat the biggest part of the home. of course they would need to be plug and play style for any size window or doorway.

    Is it possible for your solar panels to drain your battery bank if there's no incoming sun, given that the panels themselves are 2 types of metal put together with some positive and negative charge together?

  • @Macovic

    Awesome video. The albedo effect was long before before the evolution of the solar panel studied. It is a major player in heating up or cooling the global climate. Today dark surface increase on the planet, increasing the overhearing of the planet and the speeding up the greenhouse gas effect, since more energy is kept instead of reflected to space. However, burning most fuels do increase the greenhouse effect more. Solar panels is great. The world just need to stop adding other black surfaces, like more streets, cleared rockfaces and unfrozen seas. Awesome video btw.
