Sauger fishing below the dam on the Ohio river in November using live bait and jig heads can be a very rewarding, on this day i head to Mcalpine dam to target catfish and sauger but a giant catfish took the sauger bait and sent me for a wild ride, one of the biggest fish I've caught on light tackle using 10-pound braid.

How do you keep your boat in the same place
“Born in salt water” and acclimate in fresh water, yet they cannot breathe in fresh water? Please elaborate.
@@KeonaEmali they can not (breed) in fresh water they need salt water to breed and lay eggs but can transition to salt water many species of salt water fish can move from salt to fresh water but not the other way around in some cases the fresh water species can move to brackish water which is a mix of salt and fresh water I hope this helps clear up your question

Everything has a Trade Off! Weather protection or Casting space! If you "WERE" to have a fire at or close to the gas tank would you "want" or "could" get to the fire extinguisher right next to the tank in that confined area? Awesome Boat!

Missed out on going to try them in the spring. My daughter just mived to KY and we are going to see her in Sept. She is about an hour from one of your skipjack spots. Would we be able to catch some below the dam in the fall? Would the same tandem jig rigs work then? Thanks!
Yes you can catch them in the fall but a lot of the smaller ones will be schooling you will get a lot of by catches as well white bass hybrids crappie when throwing jigs like that at the dam

I fish a lot in the Arkansas river in Central AR. Same species for the most part. Lots of Stripers, White Bass, and Blues.

I think it’s more of a reaction bite they just taste it and spit it out real fast and you have to set the hook quick when I put it in there face they were spooked I just put it near them and one will eventually take it

Sending love which is why I'm saying -- limit what you eat out of the Ohio. Stay as small & low on the food chain as you can. Trim off any fat. Saying just cuz it is on my heart to do so. These are the realities of that river which I love.

How do you get to this spot
Ky side of the dam there is a pull off and a trail the side of the creek I’m on is. It allowed any more must fish down stream of the creek mouth due to barge approach

Spot lock only you will get an anchor snagged and it is not safe

Probably Ghent or veyvey boat ramps just down stream they are free and have good ramps and parking other than that you would have to put in above the dam at Craig’s creek and lock through

I always cut the tails off my multiple bait riggs. Sometimes, I even cut a slice into the shad to open up a scent trail
I reeled my shad back and cut the tails off they were a little stale I forgot to put them on ice
