A birds eye view into the eye of a Birdnado
There are so many words you can use to describe a birdnado! The one that really stands out for me is simply RAD! These crazy birds were gettin' so crazier by the second, that every minute was crazier than the second before it!!!!!!!! And this went on for about 20 of them!
But seriously! IT WAS CRAZY! Laguna Niguel California was under siege by a huge birdnado that was spinning out of control like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. At one point I thought I was going to be sucked in and flung off to Kansas somewhere. Thank goodness the birds weren't all that angry with me for butting into whatever business they were up to with that tree that day. Whew! But if they were angry birds, that could've been really really scary. I was up there all alone with no weapons or any other kind of protection. I didn't even have any bird seed to offer them if they decided to be aggressive or annoyed by me. Plus I didn't have a friend like Ian Ziering to bail me out if it were to actually happen. Because his chainsaw hand could have come in quite handy. Plus I really like it here in California. I've never been to Kansas. I'm not quite sure what's there. I lived in Missouri once when I was smaller. But I'm pretty sure I prefer California now that I'm a full sized human. If you ever have a chance to visit, Please don't drive down crown valley parkway. Its getting really really crowded with all of the new condos being built by greedy land developers and city officials. This very hillside I filmed these feathery little freaks from could very well be gone someday soon. I hope not. Otherwise these freaks would have nowhere else to flap around and form big weird birdnados. I couldn't bear the thought of this town without birdnados. It would be bleak at best. So if you come, please take the 5 south and exit Beach Cities/PCH to get to the beach. Your GPS will tell you to exit crown valley. But don't do it. Yes, it's a shorter distance to the beach but It's riddled with stop light after stop light. The freeway as of now doesn't have any stop lights at all! So it's way more relaxing just to sit back, turn up your radio, slap on thebrandonparsonsproject, plant a big smile on your head, and cruise without all the stop and go. Where was I? OH YEAH!
Still to this day I am haunted by the thought of what If I were to have been sucked away? My wife would miss me terribly and my clients would wonder why I didn't follow through. I wouldn't even know what to do in Kansas. I'd probably have to book a flight home immediately. There goes $400.
And then it would be a daymare because I didn't have my wallet with me on that hillside that day. Plus I was barefoot. My wallet would have contained my I.D. So Airport security would probably break out the rubber glove.
But I am alive and well here in my fantastic town and I thank the birds for being peaceful and rad that day.
Oh and that song "Bird O' Paradise" Was written and performed by me. Thebrandonparsonsproject in my home recording studio. You can find tons of my other music on Amazon music, Spotify, and all sorts of other nifty platforms. Plus check out my Christmas tunes under my pseudo name "2K?"

Driving can get a little boring sometimes. Don't try this at home. You can't quite get the wind to cooperate. Nor in your car if you're driving. Have someone else drive if you do. But don't. But if you do...... Watch for bugs. But Don't do this. I'm a professional.

An in depth look at the drummer feature in garageband. Building arrangements to make the drummer work for you. Understanding how to build beats around your song for a much more simple approach to recording. Make the beats sound much more realistic. Also recording a guitar track over the beat and understanding regions. Forming simple compositions for easy song production. Enjoy!
excellent! I've learned some things....thank you very much Brandon
Eye opener. Thank you.
Yes that was very helpful.
Oh yeah ok so thanks alot man. So now I'm off to rid my home of ALL guitars! lol ---- No but seriously, you absolutely can play my brother! That was awesome with some audiophile headphones on! Got a little lost in there mon! XD -- Please tell me you play for a living!? Cause your better than my lead player and he's been playing for decades! Put it this way we were born and raised on Metal, so yeah, he's been playing forever! -- But don't tell him I said that though. lol
Lol! Love it man! No I do not play professionally or even play live anywhere. I’ve played in bands before but it is just so much more difficult than people realize. A lot of talk and not enough rock ya know? The biggest thing that’s been a challenge for me is I’ve never played covers nor want to. I’m self taught and been composing for decades apparently for my sanity seeing as I’ve never seen a dime. I play all of the instruments and sing as well so I spend a lot of time in the studio. In the next month or so I plan to release a lot of my songs. Thank you so much for watching
@@brandonparsons3472 I do the same thing these days when I have time. I'm just a bassist and vocalist that still uses GB to record though. lol! - Man I would love to have you write some lead to my songs! Your guitar sound is stupendous! - Please let me know where I can check out all your originals? - I hate covers too that's why I quit the band thing too. Love to create what ever hits my head. Seriously let me know!
That's some nuts right there! XD
Now we are talking. This is what people really needs to know!
Wow, I can't tell you how helpful this video was! I've watched so many other tutorials but none of them were so clear and straight forward as this one. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your kind words :) Yah I really just tried to cut out the technical details and just keep it simple. Thank you for watching !!
Hey Brandon, thanks for your informative UA-cam video. I’m at the early stages of learning how to introduce drums into my home recordings. How do I change from a drummer using sticks to brushes? Again, great information!
Thank you for watching!!! Unfortunately you can’t play with brushes using the drummer feature. You would have to copy and paste the entire drum track onto a software instrument track into midi. However you’ll have to make sure the drum kit you load as your patch contains a brush hit. I haven’t ventured to see which one has it. You could also find a brush hit in your sound library. Also try different drummers and pull the ball down to soft and see if one will do it. Most will be a stick hit or block. Good luck!!!!
🔥🔥🔥
Powerful Tips here. 7 years later and here I am just hanging on every word. Great vid. Thanks for sharing

Hey Peeps!!!!! Speaking of Peeps....Its Christmas time and Ive released a couple new Holiday Jamzzz!!! Check out my videos! Thanx for all of your kind words and views :) Merry Christmas!!!!! B
this is great ! and the first time Ive ever commented on one of these tutorials 100%
You are a life safe Brandon...thank you 👌💯🥁
This is a WONDERFUL tutorial, thank you very much. It has been the first one which has helped me understand at a practical level how to actually use the drummer feature to put together a song. Well done!
Yes cowbell can be added. With this you can have as many drummers as you want. Drummer tracks are limited. But once you change it to midi, it's no longer a drummer track. Use this feature if you like the kick of one drummer, or the snare of another, etc. change it to midi and then select through different kits in your patches. Glad you're diggin it. B
Could this be used to add cowbell ,when you’ve used a drummer who doesn’t have one in his kit
Dude ,that is genius ,thanks for sharing
This was so helpful! Thank you! Copying and pasting the track to midi blew my mind. I was getting so frustrated trying to copy and paste on the drum track. Because when you try to delete and add a fill to the drum track, it always changes the entire drum track. I always ended up with two fills one right after the other.
That's the thing with the drummer track. When you lengthen it, cut it, shorten it, it will change the pattern you just worked so hard to complete. This is why I kept trying to figure out a way to avoid that. I'm now on Logic. But it's still set up the exact same way. I've never recorded a song without doing this trick since I found it. Thanx for watching! B
Hi Rockers! I've since upgraded to a Scarlett 4i4. Best $200 I've ever spent. Thank you all for your kind comments and I couldn't be happier that I've helped :) B
What PC Desktop do you use to download GarageBand. Not apple but LG,HP,Dell. Or any. Am searching for one that’s not that much expensive.
I really cannot thank you enough for your 1st tutorial on garageband's drummer. It provided enough information for me to go much further on midi than I had ever imagined. Still referencing the 1st and trying to learn from the 2nd, but the volume is very low on my phone on the 2nd one!!! But once I remedy that, I'm sure I'll learn some more very useful tips. My hat off to you Brandon, (like your vibrato on guitar also!) you truly are a hero in my book!!! Thanks again!!! John A. Mansfield
You get to the point. I like that! Great Job!!
This video was very helpful ! Thanks
Thanks Brandon. The basic drum facility on Garage band is utterly useless if you can't alter the beats themselves; and most other tutorials just tell tyou the basics which are of no help at all. This tutorial tells you exactly what is required to tailor the drum to YOUR song......not the other way around. Thanks again.
Thank you for the kind words. These days my video is a bit dated but hopefully my simplistic approach helped out. If you want to delve a little further my favorite guy on UA-cam is Colin Cross. Thebandguide. His are by far the best I’ve ever seen and has taken my drums to a whole different level. I actually took his paid mixing course and it blew my mind. Well worth every penny Thanks again for the view! Keep on rockin!
Thanks for this dude - great advice right there..
💯
Very good! Lots of good info here. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Thanks for the helpful video!
Very useful insights and work-arounds, thank you very much.
Lessons learned. Big thanks man
Hi Brandon, just checking a couple of your GB vids - good stuff even if posted 5 years apart from each other! Just a quick tip you may find useful when in piano roll that speeds selection up. When you were selecting that kick drum, if you tap on the piano key to the left it’ll select all of them in one go so no need to click and drag which can get fussy and time consuming. Cheers.
Ha Duh! Thank you. It was a bit of a pain to try and select them. Its funny how we can spend so much time doing things and someone will point out one tiny thing that makes you kick yourself for not knowing. Funny thing is, you saw me click on those keys and it was highlighting the notes but I never noticed haha! Thank you kind sir. And thank you for checking out my vid :) please more tips if ya got em!!
@@brandonparsons3472 I don’t have any specific ones that jump to mind but I’m going to leave a link here to a channel I’ve found particularly useful in the ‘tips’ department. You may want to check Colin out. ua-cam.com/video/KB_ig2fqFhw/v-deo.html Cheers.
Thank you for this very helpful
I gave your " smokin' the pentatonics" a serious listen, really great use of vibrato, and placement of them . Good job, keep up the good work. Hope to hear more from you. Really good guitar sound, as well. Any new tips on GarageBand ? John A. Mansfield
Thank you kind sir! So weird Watching me after you said that about the vibrato. I didn't even realize I do that. I have no intention of doing vibrato at all. my fingers have a mind of their own I guess. Thanx for watching :)
I know it’s been forever but thank you for the kind words!!
Slap me with your email and a few samples of your groove and it could happen. Thank you man!
@@brandonparsons3472 I have huge problems w/gain staging ( either too loud or opposite). I tried mk2 and could not successfully install and/or activate. Any suggestions? Thanks, man! This problem has just about killed my desire to record originals!
There’s a thousand ways to do it but what I found that works seamlessly is focusrite Scarlett 4i4 just line in to Logic ProX. That patch is called classic drive. I turned up the gain all the way. Cranked the reverb. And turned the delay up about 70 percent. I’m not familiar with mk2. But if you’ve got $200 Logic Pro X is the best in my opinion. Just plug in a play. The presets are pretty fantastic. Another $200 gets you the Scarlett. Well worth the dough. It made my recording life a breeze and I can get a pretty pro sound on my compositions now!! Good luck!
Very helpful, took me a few times, but got it not a fast hand for us beginners
Thanks great tutorial
I seriously thought that he was leaving when he went to go get his guitar, I have no idea why haha. I was like where the hell is he going? I though I hated the video, but I kept watching, and then I loved it. You brought everything together. Thank you so much. This really helped.
This is exactly whatI have been looking for - thank you!
very helpful tutorial, thanks a lot man! This is exactly what i'm looking for.
This is the best music software tutorial I ever heard. Thank you.
So useful. Thanks for this video.
Brandon Parson's garageband drummer tutorial is the best I've ever come across- far superior to anything that I've found out there( you tube , etc...) Thank you so very much, PLEASE- more on everything in garageband( including drummer) !!! Great job, very useful, practical, and spoken in easy to understand terms .
Thank you Kind SIR!! That makes me happy. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and ill be sure to help. Check out my other vid on my channel as I show how to separate kicks and snares on different tracks for further editing. :) B
Hi Pop Rockers! B here. I wanted to mention that when you copy drums to midi, Make sure that the midi track has the exact same EQ, Effects, and whatever other parameters you may have set on the drummer track. Otherwise It will clearly sound different in the midi parts. I forgot to mention that in my vid. Watch my new vid on my channel to dive deeper into this midi trick I showed you. It gets very exciting. I show you how to have your kick on a separate track. And your snare on a separate track. This is the only way to get EQ control on specific instruments of your kit. I like to take most or even all the reverb out of the kick. Gives a cleaner sound. you will also be shocked at the control over the snare you have. EQ the crap out of it to make it perfect for your ears! Good luck and thanx again for watching. Pop and Rock On! B
Pretty useful..thanks!
