Weather you have a small or large collection of battery run toys one needs a tester so one is not always putting in the two D batteries. Its also great for testing LEDS out with to make sure they light up.

Vintage Military Police Tin Toy 2
Переглядів 649 місяців тому
This is the follow up to Vintage Police Tin Toy 1 and shows how I make a control box from a electrical connector PVC box. I still have to iron out some faults in the box but it works. Everything with these tin toys is a bit testy as they are factory built and when one restores them one upsets the factory assembly and tabs get bent and things move out of shape. They are not the best engineered p...
Vintage Military Police Tin Toy 1
Переглядів 1209 місяців тому
This vintage Military police tin toy was picked up while travelling through Europe. It needs restoration and at the moment it's finding ways to restore these toys without spending a fortune on original parts. it seems that everyone is selling these parts at a crazy price after one adds in shipping especially to Canada so I'm trying to restore these on a reasonable budget. It may be easier to bu...
James Bond Tin Toy Car Restoration 2
Переглядів 1179 місяців тому
Just working through the problems with this James Bond tin toy. It's in bad shape and the gears are damaged. Finding parts is the problem with these more expensive toys as everyone wants to sell original parts at a premium price and the restoration becomes too expensive. I'm working around this problem but it has taken a long time to work out parts for this car. Most likely the most difficult t...
James Bond Tin Toy Car Restoration 1
Переглядів 1239 місяців тому
James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 Gilbert Aoshin, Made in Japan 1965 battery 11" tin car. I have had this James Bond tin toy car for many years and I have avoided restoring it as it needs gears and I could not find spare parts until now. The wiring is a mess and the gears are badly damaged. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Some of the parts will have to be made as they are not available.
DINKY TOYS CATALOGUE 1968

Dinky Catalogue 1968 No 4. is over 100 pages and has large lovely coloured graphics on each page. This catalogue is one of the best. With Thunderbirds Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle, Captain Scarlet Maximum Security Vehicle and plenty of the 1960's cars such as Aston Martin DB5, Triumph Spitfire,Volvo 1800S, Jaguar E Type 2, Vauxhall Viva, Hillman Imp., Saab 96, Ford Cortina, Ford Mustang fastback, V...
Vintage Toy Racing Car Restoration

Vintage plastic, battery operated toy racing car restoration from beginning to end. I bought this 1960's plastic battery operated racing car in a London market for very little. It had a battery casing and they are hard to find. Now I want to restore the car back to it's former glory if possible. It looks like a Sterling Moss racing car so that too caught my eye. This is a How To video so the vi...

Vintage Schucco Real Mercedes 230SL
Переглядів 10310 місяців тому
I was visiting Peters collection and we took a look at a Schucco Real Mercedes 230SL that needs restoration. When broken they go for $100 to $300 Cdn but once restored can go from $500 to $1,200. We look at this tin toy and evaluate the repairs and how it works. Maybe next time we will see it running. It has a gear shifter that changes the gears from 1,2,3,4 and reverse. "Amazing"
Vintage Opel Kapitan Tin Toy

This is a Opel Kapitan Gama tin toy that needs restoration. This is from Peter's antique collection. We discuss the parts needed and the repairs that are completed. The steering cable has been replaced and is working well.
Absolutely these oldies are an amazing and awesome never compares to the new ones nowadays
Very true
I don't have many Dinky Toys but recently found a nice Pullmore transporter. Great to see it in this early catalogue - Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it
2nd liked good job
Glad you enjoyed it.
Makes me appreciate how hard my mother worked to buy these for my brothers and me, SPV, FAB 1, Prisoner Mini Mike etc 🥰
Great memories...glad you enjoyed the catalogue.
How did you do the underside?
I saw it first and then I mainly use a angle grinder with a sand disc (stainless steel sanding disc) to make the shape.
I've only got 360p video quality on this end -- it's a shame your work is not HD. 😢
Instead of mechanical paint removal (and the risk of damaging the cast zinc), try using a chemical stripper. It has to be safe for zinc of course
First comment! Have you or anyone done an improvement to these Hubley cars in regards to using machine screws instead of the coarse self-tapping screws? I'm not crazy about the self-tapping screws and was wondering if it was feasible to tap the axles for metric or imperial threads and maybe even add hex head button screws on the wheels. Hex head screws would give a marginal improvement to the appearance of the "hub caps" over the obviously non-scale slotted screws.
Great to see. I had this catalogue myself, though only had a couple of the models. Living on a housing estate and money hard to come by. Great to see, though.
Thanks for sharing!
Superbe ! Mais changement d’image trop rapide, un tel catalogue demanderait à être feuilleté plus lentement, pour pouvoir en apprécier toute la richesse.
Thanks
This catalogue is not the 1947/48 catalogue (the USA catalogue 1947/48 does have the same cover page, but has other content). This is the first prewar stapled Dinky Toys catalogue UK of November 1939, 3rd Printing. You can see this from the print code on the last page 2/1139/20 (3P). Three printings of this catalogue have been published, also printcode 2/739/10 (1P) July 1939 and printcode 2/939/20 (2P) September 1939. The first 2 Printings with 14 pages and the last with 10 pages. I own all three. Beautiful catalogues of these nostalgic Dinky Toys period. I am a collector of Dinky Toys and Dinky Toys catalogues and gives me a lot of pleasure.
Thanks for the information. I will make a correction.
Yours faithfully 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
thanks you
Welcome
Hello, Could you please make a video on how to disassemble a Schuco radiant? Is there a way to take apart the wheels of the landing gear? Thank you.
Absolutely stunning models in such fantastic condition especially the Mercedes, the aircraft is anice piece
Couldn't agree more! Hope to video more of his collection soon.
Those were nice examples , will you be showing some more of what Peter brought .
Yes...I'm editing Peter's Auction Collection 2. Cheers
Nice and simple ,another handy tool.
Glad you like it
Good handy idea
Only for small bends but it works.
Amazing thanks.✨️✨️
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of the reasons I enjoy your videos willy, watching how you overcome problems and how you fix them excellent work
Thanks...Still need some more work on the battery control box to refine the finished result. I sometimes take on jobs that are too time consuming but I always do it again. "Go figure" I must like it. Cheers Willy
Hi, how did you repair the tip that snapped off? Ours snapped off as well and it seems the rod end screws into the tip which means the screw will need to be drilled out and new screw welded to the rod end?
I need a hardened drill to drill out tip. One could braze a thread in place. One could weld a tip on the end and clean it up without drilling but would it effect the activator. I doubt it! The company should replace these faulty parts but they do not. "sad" I may weld the piece in place if the broken thread does not come out.
I will let you know what I do but it may not be for a while as I have other projects in the works.
This was definitely a fiddly one but you did a great job of sorting it out and works well ,hopefully you'll get the steering box
Thanks Martin...I'll find a way of making a steering box if I can't find one.
Nice work around with the lights and head light lens ,good pile of cogs to sort through, and you have made great progress willy 👍
Thanks 👍
23 Canadian dollar ia how much ZAR rand?
Roughly 14 ZAR to 1 CDN Dollar / 28.89 ZAR = $20 CDN Magazine is 322 ZAR = $23 CDN
Very nice peice willy, that's a lot of stuff in there but you got it working who manufactured that toy
It's a James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 Battery operated 11" tin car. Year 1965 by Gilbert/ Aoshin Made in Japan No control box so I'll have to find one or make one! Still trying to work out the machine gun lights as they strain the gears and motor when they go in and out. Maybe why the gears are split and broke. Maybe a faulty design! I'll be another while working this one out.
I had a few of the models shown here. Wish I can have them back again. I never knew that there was a catalogue avaliable in 1968. May be not in RSA. Bring them back again please!
You are in luck...There are original catalogues and replica catalogues for sale. This catalogue for example is on Ebay. Canada for $19 + $4 shipping
Very interesting video willy, I like to fix these old toys when I can excellent
You and me both! I hope the videos help others to restore these vintage toys just like your videos. Cheers Willy
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice looking car ,a very interesting project that gear box is amazing
It really is! Works in all four gears by shifter and reverse. Like a real car. Maybe that is why it's called Real Mercedes

I think so too!
Very nice

New avengers cars look awesome
Glad you enjoyed the catalogue.
Interesting career willy ,I remember some of your collection when you lived in France, brilliant video thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
The Model T Santa Special. I had that model until a rather unpleasant boy at school took it and threw it against the wall in the playground. What was his problem? Some good memories too,the Southdown Gliding Club Triumph was a favourite. Our local hardware shop had a full length display unit built into their counter, stocked with Dinky cars, small boy height. Very clever.
The displays in Britain were fantastic. I used to see them in the Meccano Magazines but never saw a live one. Maybe that is why I collect.
I've still got my catalouge somewhere of this one
One of the better catalogues.
@@willydahm-di1rx I think i have my old Corgi & Matchbox ones from the 60's & Airfix

Good video and a great book
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks like we're traveling even further back to the happy days. That's the Carefree 50s movement. Especially if it's 1959.
I still miss the classic past. Such as the radical 60s movement. Go back to the time when the Monkees were young and alive. This has a strong reference to when Bill Keane never allowed any of his Family Circus child characters age even one year. Was I a bad seed to the Monkees back then, oh yeah? The positive side I like about this educational video is that this presents what all of Paul Restorer's finished work looks like. I'd like to see all of Paul Restorer's finished work again.
Glad you enjoyed the catalogue and it brought back memories. Thanks for the feedback.
Very nostalgic!
Brings back memories for sure.
Maravillosa colección!!!
Thank you.
I just bought the truck 25 E in grey and the Jaguar SS medium blue nr. 38 F Yesterday at an antique market in Ontario Canada.
