Hello, your work is very nice, what I want to ask is what happens if there is no tail section left at the ends, is there any harm in adjusting the SWR ti by folding or cutting the ends and soldering them again?

My friend as the MFJ mag loop. Are you keying the radio when that Yellow light on the right comes on. I was over at his house trying to figure it out. Not like my Alpha mag loop

Wow what a cool coincidence that I fond your channel! I am also in the Central Florida area. Not sure where exactly you reside, but there are a couple of good 2M/ 70 CM repeaters in the area. On 444.800 we have WA2UPK repeater, which is in the East Coast Reflector network. I am sure you have already figured this out, but there are also two really good clubs in the area: OARL and LMARS. Both are great! Hope to see you around at local events!

You have a excellent radio, I have had one for years, did you know you have a poor man's repeater? Yes it will cross band repeat, you need a quad band antenna also, or miss out on 6,and 10 meter bands, looks like you need to do your homework with the manual.

hEy Bill ... nice job on the video. You answered the questions I had in the archives of my memory bank. I recently put the same antenna up a few weeks ago. I have less noise on the H-422 than I do on my End Fed type antenna. I'll be taking the antenna down and placing it on a rotor when time permits. I'm going to make one at 20m band. It will be more difficult coz I'm using metric system XD hah

Great explanation however camera/cellphone operation not good! You used a type of tripod in the beginning and picture/video was ok but once you trying to show the various methods and how to all is out of focus! Very disturbing! Going to build a bazooka this weekend and the video did help. ZR6SW 73.

Nice job guys. DAV is very good friend. He really helped me a lot with my bazooka building. I live on hill side about 750' above sea-level an these antennas do what they say. Nice an quiet but put out a big signal. I dont bother wasting money on anything else for HF or 6m. If I need more signal I just run my SB220. That's all I ever needed.

A group around me on HF passed around a photocopy of this antenna for 80 and went wild with it. It performed very well. Everyone has spare RG-8 laying around. This was back in the early 1990s.

Focus the camera would be good. Why do people do this. Post a good informational video and crap focus. No excuse.

A common misconception is that better coax is...well...better! Coax with a shield of about 60-ish% works best. I've seen some very poor performing double bazookas, usually due to the wrong choice of coax. Another issue is using a small wire size on the ends. If you want it to be broad banded, use 300 ohm twinlead on the ends. Short the 2 sides together. RF-wise, that makes a large cable on the ends. I used 450ohm window line once but the antenna flapped in the wind too much. To tune the antenna, just fold the twinlead back on itself on the ends...no need to cut. Finally, use marine heat shrink at the transition from coax to twin lead and on the very ends. I've had one for 80M 30 feet up for 8 years with an old toothbrush center wrapped in emergency tape.

Great video Bill....I've been using this design for over a year (a single-band DB antenna) and because of the very wide bandwidth I've never had to adjust the VSWR. The noise level is about 60% lower than it was before when I was using verticals and standard dipoles :-)

So, why are you trying the double bazooka? Totally different? Wow. None. its just a dipole antenna. I never seen anyone with great performance better than any dipole. I know several people with the antenna. There was NO noise difference at all in the two antennas you show here. This delusion that the bazooka is better is marketing bullcrap hype to sell antennas. How could it possibly be any quieter? Impossible.

the content is good. Just the focus drifting in and out made me feel a bit seasick. I have been using a Double bazooka on 40m for about 10 years. I find it a great antenna and agree that it has less noise than a dipole in the same place and orientation.

Nice radio. I currently have a 991 and just ordered the 1200 last night. 991 would is great on hf hope this is the same. I do a lot of 2 meter ssb and it's a pain to keep switching back and forth.

I understand this is a QRP radio but lets say I want to increase the transmitting power. What are your thoughts on how one increase the transmit power beyond about 5 watts and still keep the setup and cost reasonable?

The bigger coax will result in a wider bandwidth, it may not be so apparent at some frequencies, but the wider coax, just like larger diameter elements on a beam, all result in improved bandwidth. Some people want to believe what they want, and disregard all the testing done between a dipole and a Double Bazooka. The lower noise is due to the plastic covering on the coax. RadioWavz uses RG11 in their design , and they make a very nice DB. The RG11 is closer to .5" wide, and it gets great results. At 40M, you may not notice the lack of bandwidth, but at 80M, it will be obvious if you compare the two.

The bazooka works exactly the same as a regular dipole. No bandwidth improvement, not llower noise. But until you have done a real comparison you may be deluded into believing the myths about this antenna.
