Greeks are extremely close with their families, and a Greek mother is known for making dinner for their adult children. Greek men always look after their mothers, too. They love listening to Greek music and the bouzouki. Love and appreciate the Greek elements in The Exorcist!

I just love this scene with father Damien and his mother.Although I am not Greek,I just love the music.Especially the Rembetika from Asia Minor.I remember an old neighbor who was a good friend of my grandmother.She was born in 1900 in Smyrna, Ottoman Turkey.Her family fled Turkey in 1922 to Greece and then migrated to the United States later.But she had tons of old 78s .Greek, Armenian, Jewish and Turkish records.Recordings from 1905 to 1920.Still playable that could be played on the hi fi in her home.Even though she also had two workable wind up Victrolas in her home.Whenever I visited her with my grandmother,I would often ask her if I could listen.Even if I couldn't understand the language.It was some of the most beautiful music I ever heard.She identified herself as a Pontic Greek whose ancestors lived there in Turkey since antiquity.

The actors of this era are unparalleled.

I hate the scene where she's in a mental hospital, chained to the bed. I absolutely hate it to this day. I will fight whoever I have to fight who gonna have my momma chained up to the bed like that. That s#!t had me tight bruh🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊

For some reason I find this scene to be one of the darkest and most depressing in the film. I think Friedkin knew exactly what he was doing with this - the undertones of guilt, despair, loneliness, and in the background even the music on the radio is creating a sense of ominosity and tension. The bit at the end of the scene, where he retunes the radio as there are several voices speaking over each other, is also an interesting foreshadowing of a later scene, when he’s listening to recordings of the multiple voices coming from Reagan. Such a clever film.

Astoria radio... Θεωρώ πως για όσους καταλαβαίνουν, αυτή η σκηνή με τα λόγια του κλασικού τραγουδιού της Σακελλαρίου, είναι ίσως η πιο τρομακτική της ταινίας. Φοβερή σύμπτωση! O W. Friedkin, διάλεξε λογικά δυο από τα δημοφιλέστερα ελληνικά τραγούδια που έπαιζαν εκείνη την εποχή (1973) στο ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό των Ελλήνων της Ν. Υόρκης, και το ένα περιέγραφε όλη την ιστορία της ταινίας: «Είσαι αρρώστια μου, μεσ’ τα στήθη μου και πως να σε βγάλω».

When I was a young girl, I thought she was speaking Spanish so when I watched with my little Mexican friends I asked them to translate and they're like "That's not Spanish, we can't tell".lol Yrs later, I thought it was Italian, lol And NOW I finally know it's Greek. Romance languages do sound a bit similar.

Αυτή η σκηνή είναι πολύ προσεγμένη από το σκηνοθέτη. Η αγκαλιά με το φιλί, η κουνιστή καρέκλα, το ραδιόφωνο με τα ελληνικά τραγούδι και κυρίως το τραπέζι. Μπόλικο ψωμί, ελιές, φέτα (νταξει ίσως ήταν μεγάλη η ποσότητα σε πιάτο) κι οι παπάρες στη φασολάδα. 100% πιστή αναπαράσταση ενός ελληνικού σκηνικού

Ευχαριστούμε που ανεβάσατε το συγκεκριμένο κομάτι της ταινίας !!!! Και στην άλλη επίσης κλασική ταινία "Ο ταχυδρόμος χτυπά πάντα δυο φορές" ακούγονται 3 θαυμάσια ελληνικά τραγούδια !!!

The scenes of father Karras with his mother are so heartbreaking and devastating. A very old woman living alone and ending up dying alone in an asylum. Real life is more cruel and terrifying than any movie and i think that it was the writer's/ director's intention to show.

Οταν πρωτοειδα αυτη τη σκηνη ειχα παθει πλακα, πηγα το βιντεο πισω καμια 5-6 φορες για να βεβαιωθω οτι ακουσα σωστα
