Amazing footage! That looks like a big wood frog the hungry Snake caught and swallowed (Really eaten still alive?!) here! Was there to way to reach out a pull the frog, saving it’s life? The thing seemed to be resisting and frantic stuck down the snake’s throat! 😧🐸😅 I wonder, can the amphibian stand a chance of escaping (kicking those strong legs and its general sliminess etc.) and turn around from the elastic neck/stomach if eaten in that condition?? It’s so big, maybe it can still survive.

Fantastic thanks, I started searching some names of places in Google maps and I was getting some weird results and scattered around the globe, I was looking for Coffee Bay; Charles Island and Fortescue Bay, I was expecting to find him close to the Cape Horn area. I just started re reading the book after 35 years and it occurred to me that I could follow Spray's route using Google Earth so I googled "route of the spray" and found this. Thank you but darn you. Every time I think I have an original thought and then google the thought or idea I discover that one of more people have beaten me to it. On a planet populated by over 7 Billion people I'm now virtually certain that I've never had an original thought during my sixty years of exchanging gasses with the atmosphere.

This is a fine presentation and its key strength is its interactivity. For people who want to study the book and Slocum's voyage in greater detail, I have chosen a different format, one in which a 3D model of Spray is animated along the yacht's track. This also runs in Google Earth (plug-in) and includes the full text of the book and an audio version that plays as the animation is in progress. Search in Google for 'Joshua Slocum in Google Earth' to find the presentation.

Just finished reading the book, (book is free on amazon kindle). As a huge fan of Google Earth, I really enjoyed what you've put together. It is great that you've found a way to use a modern tool to put a timeless achievement into a context even a landlubber can appreciate! Nice work!
