Thanks for this video. Very interesting as for all your video's. I have a general question. I begin in automotive upholstery (only for my ouwn, not a business). My sew machine is a very old model who doen't accept large bobins. Therefore when I have to use thick thread I have to change the bobin all the time. Would be an option to put thinner thread on the bobin to have a larger reserve on it ? For instance, using 30 thread on the bobin and 20 on the needle ? Or would I avoid this option ? Thank for your answer.

As an avid DIY’er this is beautiful to watch, and the results are stunning, but this is definitely not a DIY project. This takes experience and craftsmanship to accomplish these results. Amazing work.

I’m a leather worker myself. A few years ago I decided to cover the steering wheel and console gear shift on my Tacoma. I really like the technique you used to cover your steering wheel. I used a baseball stitch, but I was constantly worried about the thread tearing through the holes I made with my pricking iron. I’d love to know what kind of contact cement you sprayed and the thickness of the leather you used. It looks to me right about 2-3oz or 1 to 1.5 mm. Loved your steamer too! Beautiful work. Leather is such an amazing material.

Sir, If I lived anywhere near you I would offer to work for you for free. I have been interested in learning auto upholstery for some time now. I have recovered a lounge chair that I had and my son put an imprint of his hand on it with finger paint. I did a pretty good job on it. Now I’m finishing the rebuild on my ‘68 Chevy pickup and want to do the upholstery work on it. I have a vision of what I want it to look like but hesitant to start on it. I have watched a lot of videos on UA-cam and you are by far the best out there. Awesome work, craftsmanship, skill, and pride. Great job. That looks clean which is what I want. 👍👍

Suprising amount of work for such a small area to repair. No wonder I was getting expensive quotes when I was trying to get my merc seats repaired I never knew how much work was involved.

How short are those staples that they don't protrude into the outer skin!? That plastic couldn't be more than what... 2mm thick?
