Striped Bass Fishing Tournament | Boston Harbor Striper Fishing
Переглядів 8805 місяців тому
My buddies and I competed in a local Striped Bass tournament this Saturday and it was one of the most insane days of fishing I have ever experienced. Pogies everywhere, being chased by MONSTER Stripers, Bluefin Tuna, and whales, in as close as Deer Island. We caught some giants, including a 44 inch Striper! Hope you guys enjoy the boys and I out on the water having a great time.

Why didn’t u throw lures like a swimbait or doc in a blitz u would have caught way more if u didnt troll xrap through a blitz u would have got bigger fish over 35”
@@DanielDunphy18 because the xrap is consistent. i’ve caught plenty of monsters on it
@ yes it is not for that situation tho but great video good content👍
@ Thanks! glad you enjoyed. I’ve got nothing against throwing lures around, just tend to see more success trolling but always open to trying new things.
@ yea definitely get a doc it is very good the 7” or Hogy swimbaits u will do good good luck
are you using a medium heavy or heavy rod ?
Boston Harbor been good past few years….shhhhhh
Keeping a 30” table fish is a no-brainer! Perfect size to consume. Well done 👍✌️
I put inline single hooks on my rapala 20' and 30' raps. Makes unhooking a lot easier and safer. If I'm into a lot of fish I crush the barbs.
Windy this morning, so mad at my self making a noob mistake. I hooked into a 30+” Blue (wasn’t expecting it thought it was a big striper) got it to the side of the boat and he bite the line. The noob mistake was not having my net out !!!! Ughhhhh!!!
Those calm summer days are behind us unfortunately. Nets are a life saver! Ive learned that lesson the hard way a few times myself.
Enough with the let's go crap. Are you ten. The fishing is still awesome. Huge bluefish around also.
@@peterniven870 what?
Don't recommend this channel... Foul language not good family watching unsubscribed
Thanks for the PSA @@michaelhurchalla2100 You are absolutely correct. This is not a family friendly channel. I say bad words and show real emotions associated with catching fish. There are plenty of watered down channels out there i’m sure you will love.
Language is pangit😮
what?
Great video. That’s my dock in the first clip!! If you ever want to get out I fish every day and know the area extremely well. Keep up the good work and thanks for the content!
@@joshheitman5459 That would be awesome! I come down to Marco a handful of times a year and will likely next be down after Christmas. I have been dying to meet other people who are in to fishing down there
Jejeje
Nice!
"Not that small" was perfect timing
Haha 2 in 1. big boy keeper!!
Ive always wanted to fish the harbor, Which boat ramp is the least packed?
I don’t launch my boat, it is on a slip so not sure which one is least packed but pretty much every town has one
The reel clicking noises kills me lol
@@michaelamorim-wi4qq I love it! 😂
It's already winter 😅
@@asphaltcowboy7567 It is certainly coming too fast! I am leaving my boat in the water till the last possible day this year, and once it’s out will have some hunting content on the way
@DirtyWaterOutdoors that's a good idea. I'll be watching..
Blues if not cooked right taste terrible....... Gamey....
Yeah I haven’t eaten one yet, I have no shortage of keeper Stripers so no need to keep the blues
Blues are some of the best fish to eat. You gotta bleed it when caught, they're best pan-fried and only good if fresh caught. Fillet is a waste, cook it whole.
I went out on a charter on Saturday and couldn't believe how crazy packed the spots were in the harbor. We ended up catching 21 stripers and 1 blue fish while losing 4 fish at the boat. but we got 4 keepers too so great day on the water. We are so happy we didnt have to manage the crowds
@@timmccaffrey2967 That’s awesome man! glad to hear you guys killed it. I bet that made for a great dinner too. I’ll have to share some Striper recipes i’ve been working on recently
you do charters

What a shit show of boat traffic. If I heard "let's gooo" one more time I was going to puke
Let’s GOOOO!
Did you go out today? Craziest blitz I’ve ever seen off deer
I am out right now. Missed the morning bite and regretting it!
@@DirtyWaterOutdoors damn you missed out! Seems like it’s been happening daily though I’m the same area but today was just different. Sunrise to 8-830 is the time
Awesome but I’d rather have the striper
me too!
Nice fish! Sure were a lot of boats out there
Thanks man! Yes there were it was bumper boats out there
What time did the bite die down in that area?
@@jasonw5619 the last one we caught was around 10
Nice gator!
Thanks man!
Nice! Going out on the kayaks tomorrow morning hoping to get on some fish. Give a holler if you see us lol! Fishings been good and we wouldn’t even have known about the Boston harbor being hot right now if it wasn’t for these videos! Keep it up
@@q_liftslucha I’ll see you out there! I’m in a Mako and will keep an eye out for kayaks.
What gear, lb test what works for you? Ty in advance.
On all of my combos I use 50 lb braid to a barrel swivel, then 30lb mono leader to a clip. That way if I want to troll or fish lures I can and it is simple to take off and attach a premade leader/hook combo for live lining
With the bite as slow as it is up here I’d rather be in Florida 😂
@@unrulybill Has the bite turned off?? When i left for Florida it was incredible up here. Getting out there this weekend to hopefully find some Stripers and make another video
@@DirtyWaterOutdoors it’s horrible brother. Total opposite of that tourney weekend.
@@unrulybill well that sucks. I was excited to go see if there were any tuna still floating around out there
@@DirtyWaterOutdoors hopefully they turn on but I’m setting my eyes on a giant tuna from here on out.
@@DirtyWaterOutdoors haven’t seen tuna in the harbor since they were there a few weeks ago. Going to try Chatham area tomorrow from revere 😂😂
Is it the blade it’s cutting up is the blade from the boat cutting up the the head of a shark, because I am confuse🙃😅🫥🫤🫥😶
It is a expensive fish that needs to move to live so I am assuming the hook is causing it to bleed but it is not the blade and that blade you talked about is called a propeller 😄👍
@@BETSYKBARNES It is neither a shark nor is it being cut up by the propeller. The Tuna was likely harpooned and gaffed in order to land and kill the fish. It is being dragged to bleed and ethically kill the fish.
@@DirtyWaterOutdoors So, you sayin Tuna was ethically harpooned and then ethically bled to death while you ethically filmed it fighting for life? Dunno, bro... You killed an animal. Best possible reason would be to earn a living of it... probably you did it just for fun... without further knowledge this may or may not be tolerable... but creating a film and profiting even more of that... you better shove "ethically" up to a place where the sun never rises...
Not alive just nerves
@@Leviattebery001onX Glad someone actually knows what’s going on here 😂
@DirtyWaterOutdoors well being an avid person who catches and clean eats their own. Getting outdoors is what I love to do and feel more comfortable knowing what I eat and where it comes from
no😢😢😢😢😢
He still alive because you didn't do the kill properly dumb ass
Great videos! If you need someone to film or fish with im always in boston area or north like newburyport
Lets do it man! I am back in the area and will be getting out there every weekend for the rest of the season. Let me know what works
Definitely i can email you or something we will set it up
Gator blues and big bass inside the harbor yesterday. Trolled pogies for bass then once I saw a pogie bit in half changed to CD18 orange and gator blues then caught!
@@m.a.t2008 Can’t wait to get out there this weekend and check it out!
@@kbradley5554 Shoot me a message on Instagram @DirtyWaterOutdoorsYT
was out there today by castle island snaggin pogies, couple whales came up next to us out there, couldnt get any luck on any stripers though, tried trolling some 9er umbrella rigs too.
@@artilarygoboom wow! i didn’t see any whales but I heard they were in close
Yesterday was insane today not so much. I thought I’d never complain about there being too much pogie but dude THERES SOO MUCH POGIE in the harbor
@@unrulybill seriously! There have been so many pogies it has been challenging to find the bass under them. Yesterday was a different story tho. There were bass everywhere
@@DirtyWaterOutdoors yea bite was strong in the am then fizzled out for us. Saturday I think we caught 31 fish between the three of us.hopefully commercial night is busy!
@@unrulybill damn! that’s insane good for you guys
Ditto on that, so many pogies but hard to find bass under them lately. But good job and luck finding them guess timing had everything to do with it.
@@m.a.t2008 Thanks man. yeah i feel like if you want to increase your likelyhood of finding them getting out there right as the sun is rising is the key
Here in the harbor do you find the pogies? are they pretty much all around?
@@q_liftslucha Yeah there’s no one specific area. Out by the islands they are everywhere
What net do you use? I am looking for a strong one for commercial bass.
@@elifeingold10 Not sure of the specific brand, but I got it at West Marine, and is fairly high quality, hasn’t bent on me yet
Damn bros manning the boat the GoPro the rod and the net! 😂😂😂
@@unrulybill it is truly chaotic. wouldn’t have it any other way 😂
Where do you keep your boat or launch out of? I live in Medford and sadly only fish the Mystic a few times a year, never really make it to the harbor unless I get a charter. I get most of my fishing in up in Maine for two weeks every July.
@@6atlantis My boat is on a slip at A st in Hull. It’s the perfect spot, super easy access to Boston Harbor
Awesome! Now let's see part 2 when you live line that thing for a striper! 😅
Deal! New video coming out tonight
sick
thanks for the good content. I'm slipped over by the Tobin. i picked up a 20 & 30 X Rap. what speed are you typically trolling at 3-5mph? also how many seconds are you letting your line out. thanks for any help in advanced. my first year in Boston ( been in Gloucester for years ) so its been tough to learn a new area.
@@m.a.t2008 Glad you enjoyed! You nailed it, i troll at 3-5mph, and typically let out like 50-75 yards of line. My goal is to get it as far from the prop wash as possible. I would try and go to Boston Light early in the morning and troll around, I always have luck there. I can make a video that lays out exactly how I do everything trolling related. Hope to see you out there and tight lines!
East Boston side of the Tobin we been absolutely crushing.

@@DirtyWaterOutdoors np. Good luck
See if you laughing when this share pulls you in the . Dumb ass
You're going to need a bigger boat.
That was wild
Is that a juvenile great white? If so please try to respect the species that live around that area , anyway hope you were able let him go without causing too much stress. Edit: did it break the line? If so that definitely sucks if the hook is stuck inside him. Also until i know the full context, it seems yall wanted to bother him for no reason. But Please feel free to correct me if im wrong. My uncle said its just bait tied to rope but hes seen fishermen use multiple hooks to land most sharks, i really hope im a drunk dumbass but thats definitely a creature you should respect and not try to bother if possible. Edit: thanks for the confirmation instantly . Goodluck on future boating trips.
It was just tied on no hook
@@Leyzboythank you for the reply ,my uncle said the same thing i just wanted to make sure.
You’re so Annoying
God how I miss striper fishing!!!! But like everything else that was once free the corporate goons and pedos pretending to be legitimate government ruined that too!!!! Now you have to buy a license and you're only allowed one fish!!!! God how I miss the free America!!!!!
Wow, nice catch! Can you make a video of how you catch pogies?!
absolutely! a lot of luck goes into it so next time I stumble upon some pogies I will start recording. It’s pretty simple when you do find them, get a snagging hook, throw it into the middle of the school, and keep yanking the rod/line hard until you hit one
