UPDATE: Disregard my original post, below! Your video missed some very important steps: 1. After installing the RTC chip, you have to open the KPC-3 Plus, locate the RESET jumper (J11) and short it (put the jumper across both pins). 2. With J11 shorted, turn the KPC-3 Plus on and wait for the hard reset message to appear on the screen (terminal needs to be at 1200 baud to see it). 3. Turn the KPC-3 Plus off. 4. Remove the short from J11 . 5. Turn the KPC-3 Plus on. 6. Set the time with the DAYTIME command. 6. Enter all the configuration changes you may have made before installing the RTC chip (you did do a DISP command and capture them before resetting the KPC-3 Plus, right?!) ORIGINAL: Thanks for this. I bought my RTC chip from Kantronics. After installing it (while powered off and unplugged from 12V), I powered it back on and did a full restore to factory defaults. I reloaded my settings and set the date/time with the DAYTIME command. When I turn the KPC3 off, it still loses the time. For example, I set the time to 1723 and turned it off. Three hours later, the time was 43:30:15! The hours were obviously wrong, but the minutes and seconds were correct! Any ideas?

Hi Ed, I have identified the COM port using device manager, but when I open the Terminal in Airmail there is no connection signal from the modem. I am using a PTC-IIex powered from my icom M710 radio 8 pin cable. When powered on the PTC Tune lights are solid red. Any help is much appreciated.

I only see these being used on VHF. Can a KPC3 Pactor modem be used on both HF and VHF? Regards and thanks...de CT7BGN.
