What amazing footage, appledore station is my neighboring station and I know a few of the crew members
This was a long journey! Thank you very much for posting these videos for us mortals to witness the story behind Storm Cone 💘
The Henry Comber Brown sits in Ramsey Harbour on the Isle of Man now… she’s rotting away a bit by the looks of things
That's speeded up isn't it 😀😀
I used to go and see the lifeboat here every year when I spent the summer at my Grandparents back in the 50s, I remember my Grandad buying coke from the gasworks you can see behind the lifeboat station.
Come to this late in life. A real tear jerker seeing all the boatmen we knew well. Thanks for putting this one up.

WONDERFUL footage and many thanks for posting this ... Tenby is a timeless seaside resort and my wife and I are so lucky that it is only a 40 minute drive from our home.
FANTASTIC footage! ... Many thanks for posting this!
Many thanks for posting this delightful footage ... Tenby is timeless and very little as changed since this was filmed in the fifties ... A new lifeboat station as replaced the old one ... with the old station now a private residence ... but it still looks the same!
robert holland, yes it is.
robert holland, yes it is.
superb
I was a teenager in Tenby at this time. The boy who is doing the rope work on the Caldey Boat is Johny John - who later was on the lifeboat crew and sadly died on a call out . Members of the Crockford family including Ivor in red overall (He was also mayor of Tenby)
excellent footage
Great time lapse!
great vidio, would of been a lot more entertaining with Yakety sax in the back ground, haha.
Brilliant! - All five videos :)
Is that the actor Donald Houston in the final scene?
what are the requirements to become a winch man
I recognised a young Colin Firth and Thora Hurd. Gregory Peck was captaining the boat and flipper the dolphin made a brief appearance. I think Anthony Quinn played the monk and that was definitely Ursula Andres in the bikini. Boy with the kite was Bruce Forsythe. Cast of the Onedin Line as lifeboat crew. I could go on but I lost the Radio Times from 1950 Great Film, looking forward to Glyn Houston's next film.
Thanks for this......watched thro' tearful eyes a happy time long gone............sad and wonderful at the same time.
This is a great set of videos!
Great to see this again. A wonderful film. Everyone spoke very "posh" back then didn't they!!
the wind looked strong that day as the seaking is being buffeted around abit!!!!

Im not crew anymore due to busting my back, God i miss the ilb!! Nice vid
The bulls got annoyed because of the bad crossing from Caldy and when they got ashore they kicked the doors off of the pen they were traveling in ....
An interesting piece of local history! Thank you.
Sorry - Comments containing bad laguage will be removed
I was just wondering: How do they get it back up there?
What a great old film. Things have certainly progressed with the new Tamar class and lifeboat station nowadays.
You can't blame the founder for the greed of the present business, I'm afraid I speak from bitter expeience. I am quite prepeared to believe Dennis Bancroft was a decent and fair chap and I have no doubt that he gave up much of his time for the good of the community and life saving. However, values that I'm sure he upheld are sadly no longer the values of the present business and that is such a shame.
I believe Dennis was the founder, he has recently passed away and he would be horrified to think people thought he was ripping them off as he lets properties for other people by just taking the commission. We owe Dennis a huge debt for giving up a lot of his valuable time launching the Tenby lifeboat to save lives and running it's affairs for many years
Excellent and very professional film clip. I recognise the parts of Tenby and the old lifeboat house from holidays there! I wonder if Dennis Bancroft (the estate agent) was the fonder of the FBM estate agents who rip people off for holiday accomodation every year?
excellent video. i can remember the last proper boat. shame this carriage cant be saved be for it rots away completely.
The engines in the boat are Caterpillar C18s - 1,000 HP they are 6 cylinder inline with 2 tubochargers and have a capacity of 18 litres
I have just showed my father this and he is so excited as he was a Tenby boy and knows all people in the clip,he now lives in Australia so he is over the moon with it
They certainly were, looking back into the history and the stats of the time the Henry Comber Brown carried out loads of services compared to the earlier boats. Maybe the equivilant numbers of today, but in those days they always seemed to be putting out in a storm.
absolute gem! How rare is this. I remember the henry comber brown when I was a lifeboat mad kid in the 80's. what lovely boats the old double enders were, much more character than the new breeds
An excellent piece of vintage film of the Lifeboat at Tenby..Thanks..5* Bob
25 kts? nice ;]
Well....thanks very much for adding the video. Its amazing to see how things have changed from 1956 to nowadays!
There is now ! or I should say there will be - i'm uploading it
Yes there is but i haven't had the time to edit it and upload it. It's a bit of an anticlimax as the storm blows through and the ship is pictured on the rocks, in fact it was a shot of a real wreck off Ireland somewhere.
Is there a Chapter 5?
coooooooooooooooool
are thos to gay
I heard he started the fire himself by being pissed.
Great video!
