a brief show & tell of my recently purchased Murph, my first Swiss watch of probably many, for better or worse....
A bit off topic but the camera lighting in your office is really nice! Are you using a light or is that just the natural light filtered through your shades?
@@janegoldberg hi Jane! fortunately the light directly above seems to provide decent enough lighting for filming somehow. thanks so much for watching - stumbled upon your content recently myself and have been loving it!
Just got mine yesterday. How long did it take for the strap to stop squeaking?
@@codygarcia8976 give it just a couple of weeks of consistent wear - congrats!
In order to reduce the gap, try to use slightly thicker spring bar pins
Do you think this is more of a strap monster than your Murph?
@@aleksandertobiassen9867 hmm I haven’t even tried with the Murph to be honest, the lack of drilled lugs has kind of discouraged me from putting on a different strap. I do think yes though
I’ve always found white dials work better than black with a wider range of colors like blues, greens and reds without taking away from the dial. You should try it!
Are you able to reload this with better resolution Chris? The best UA-cam is offering me is 360 which too low bud.
@@robperkins2085 hi Rob! it should be available with higher resolution after maybe half an hour or so - UA-cam typically needs time to render the better quality from my experience. thanks for hopping on so quickly 😊
that happens on youtube when you watch a video too soon after it's first uploaded. it fixes itself.
yep - all good now!
Great video! That is the watch I want to buy for when I get married!
As soon as I heard that intro, I subbed. That blessed me. Thank you and Happy belated New Year!
Nice job on this! Subscribed!

Amen sir. God bless you.
What’s the name of the first box?
@@TheWoolyWolf I wouldn’t recommend it, but the brand is called Songmics
Nice collection. We have similar tastes
I’ve got a rather small collection (by choice), and think I certainly fall into the enthusiast camp. There’s certainly a difference between collectors and enthusiasts, but there’s also generally a lot of overlap too. How has your WC experience been? I joined the app in April of last year, and I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s allowed me to interact with a lot of enthusiasts, and to partake in/host local watch enthusiasts meetups.
@@Paul_Whaley sounds like you’re making some great choices there Paul! WC has been fun and helped me realize how much of a community there is among collectors. I haven’t had the chance to participate in a local meet up yet because it keeps falling on Sundays but sounds like a great time.
I prefer videos - like engaging with others - to be free of religion and politics. I understand that you meant well, but a person’s wellbeing and self-worth doesn’t depend on being a member of a “club”.
@@mybrainlikesthings I completely understand where you’re coming from. please don’t feel coerced in any way by those remarks in my videos - it’s a way to express my freedom of belief and to reach out to anyone who might happen to feel lost. After all, at the end of the day, love, forgiveness, and acceptance are core tenets of a fulfilled life, and I hope to share that with anyone I cross paths with. I don’t see it as a “club” per se but thank you for your thought
너무나 신기한 Chris's vedeo! Good Luck!!^^
Thanks for the well wishes at the beginning brother-and great collection. Got a new subscriber in me!
Lovely collection, could you share the link to the jubilee bracelet you purchased for the Seiko dress watch. Is the bracelet comfortable?
@@viccosta5301 thanks! Here it is - a.co/d/cSgldJD I do find the bracelet comfortable but have a couple of gripes. I’ll be talking about it in the next video!
Wow! 8 watches in one year is throwing yourself in the deep end of watch collecting. Do you see yourself accumulating watches into a much bigger collection or selling some to keep it down to a small size collection? Personally, I never sell a watch and try not to double up on watch categories - I have one diver, one chronograph and two GADA watches (doh!). I’m also trying to have a variety of companies and dial colours (currently 2 blue, one black and one white). All my watches are Swiss automatics so I’m also trying to diversify countries of manufacture and add in some quartz movements.
@ianforber haha deep end indeed! great question that I’ll have to continue to explore (and probably make a video about), but I’m definitely more inclined at the moment to maintain a reasonable cap on the number of watches in the collection. it’s hard enough to rotate the current collection as it is! your collection sounds fantastic - hope you can pull the trigger on a nice, reliable (Japanese?) quartz some time soon! thanks for watching :)
I love the video and the message at the beginning. I also can totally relate to changing a bracelet and wanting to wear it more. I have an upgraded jubilee on my Seikoskx013. Keep it up and we'll keep watching :)
After watching this video most likely my first automatic watch will be DressKX, still looking for my soulmate "steel".
The differences between a collector and an enthusiast are self-explanatory. But people just cannot stop mixing them up, similarly how people cannot differentiate "hate" and "dislike".
Well said, same as "needs" and "wants"
that armani was my first watch
Great video Chris and very insightful. Based on your criteria I am wholly within the enthusiast camp and 'guilty' of all 5 reasons cited. I had to laugh at the end because my other great passion is golf! Have fantastic and blessed 2025! Keep up the good work.
@@robperkins2085 thanks so much, Rob! Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2025 as well
Really appreciated the intro! Great video. It's cool to see someone build up such a nice collection in their first year. I'm hoping to start mine in 2025. Subbed!
Nice 👍 watch collection 😊❤
*Excellent* collection, and a well-sized one at that. My collection is a mix of (mostly) Seiko and Casio. (Great watch box as well.)
A lovely collection that I'm sure will only continue to improve due to your great taste! 👏
Hi great video how does the panda compare to the dresskx and 143 ? I have noth of them and keep thinking of a panda do you have a favourite out of them ? Also just checking on the 143 tropic strap is the quick release the fat bars ?
@@daveLin104 nice! I’d say the panda is my least favorite out of the three, but the looks are hard to dislike. it’s a handsome piece for sure. one of the main reasons I got it was to have a chronograph in the collection that wouldn’t cost an entire watch’s worth to service. the solar quartz is nice but isn’t always easy to keep fully charged in the winter months. the tropic from strap habit doesn’t have fat bars, which I notice when putting onto the watch, but never during wear or any other times.
@dailykimchi thanks for the reply and you might have saved me money not getting the panda I should just be satisfied with the 143 :) I want a chronograph like you but don't want to have the future service costs like you :) can I ask why it's the least favourite please ? Also you might be better replacing the quick release bars with some skinny bars that fit the strap but have the correct pins for the lugs. It makes them more secure and causes less wear in the holes :)
@ sure, happy to help - nothing wrong with the speedtimer per se, in fact it’s the watch that’s gotten the most compliments from others of the three. call me typical, but I do have an inclination for automatic watches 😂
@dailykimchi thanks for the reply makes sense:) keep up the good work with the channel :)
Love your collection ❤
Is there AR coating on the crystal?
@@Mac88tilinfinity there’s not, and it does show
Great vid! What strap is that on the first seiko?
@@bigboybuky the jubilee-style bracelet is from strap code (look up miltat). thanks!
@@dailykimchi thankyou!
great choice! Hamilton is the best bang for buck Go to watch for me (Khaki Expedition 37mm).
Great selection. There is a Casio Edifice that has an amazing integrated bracelet as well. I am torn between the Seiko baby turtle frosty and the baby tuna frosty. Might get one eventually. I don’t think that there is a reason for Seiko not having signed crowns other than them being cheap. Citizen does an amazing job with its Promaster line, cheaper than Seiko, arguably better and signed crowns…
@@micheldepaula8733 thank you, and all great points you’re making. if your wrist is large enough, I’d say go for the tuna over the baby turtle
I’m into watches a similar length of time to yourself, I recently acquired an SPB149 and love it. Currently trying to decide which dress watch to upgrade my Bambino to… (I have a watch-in watch-out system, keeping my collection to 5 watches).
@@thestu21 that’s awesome. I like the idea of a watch-in watch-out system; i think I’m just about getting to that point myself.. thanks for watching!
A nice conservative collection of beautiful watches… but the AE1200 is the workhorse 😊 the Casio Royal was never in a Bond movie, however it looks similar to the Seiko G757 (?) watch that was in the movie but production on that watch stopped in the 1980’s…so the Casio AE1200 took over that role😊.
Hope you keep uploading, man! Really like your thoughts about the watches you own. Kinda feel like this more contemplative watch content has been lost these last few years with more and more channels looking more at whatever is trendy or well specced. Keep it up!
That’s the idea! Thanks, man!
I agree / felt like an actual conversation - great stuff! Mines arriving tomorrow!
Great collection - thanks for sharing! I'm only a few months into my own horological journey and the addiction has hit me hard lol! I had a couple of old Luminox watches already and a Citizen chrono but started recently with a Seiko 5 GMT SSK01. I then added a few very cheap Casios followed by a Timex Expedition. Feeling adventurous I then bought a Vostok Amphibia Scuba Dude which I love. My most recent purchase was the blue/grey Casioak G-Shock with the metal case guards - a throw-back to my first ever G-Shock from the mid-1990's. I'm now saving for a blue dial Seiko Presage Cocktail Time on a bracelet. Just subbed to your channel and looking forward to seeing more videos.
@@robperkins2085 sounds like a lovely collection!! let’s get sicker from this disease together haha

Nice collection! I still don't have a Seiko. I have a couple Citizens though. I have more Swiss brands than anything. I did get the PRX and I love it. Terrific collection
Nice collection and loved the commentary. You got my sub!!
Thank you for the video. Beautiful watch I wish it was 40- 42 mm in my opinion.
@@alvaromacedo2622 thanks for watching!
I like thick watches and im afraid this might be a little too thin...
@@soccer90tem80 if you like thicker watches then yes I’d probably agree. I’d presume you’re generally more of a dive watch person then?
The solar watch needs to see a lot of light to fully charge. I keep mine out of the box and close to a sunlit window.
@@jobuckley2999 keen eye there - I’ve found that it’s difficult to keep a full charge especially this time of year. I’ll take your advice.
Great SOTC! Your content is both engaging and relatable. As a fellow Christian and Seiko enthusiast, I really enjoyed this. I started collecting watches about four months ago and I’ve definitely caught the watch bug! I’m still a beginner, but I’m learning more every day. I’m excited to see more of your videos. Keep up the great work!
Dude, I hv the same sbdy109 mini turtle. Goes superbly well with navy color strap. Trust me, it will make the gorgeous dial pop. I hv mine with a single pass electric blue NATO strap.

The Seiko can actually be read
I can read the Hamilton better. Black dials are typically harder to read than white dials are anyway.
SRPE55 > Hamilton Khaki every time
@@Ferien7 haha fair enough!
I have the srpe in grey dial and the Khaki auto and mechanical has all for 4 years the Seiko might look more modern etc but the Hamilton is def lot better than the Seiko in movement and finishing terms
Love that 62mas!
