How to WIN the TOUGHEST endurance races in the World? | Just Ride S2E14 w Sofiane Sehili
Sofiane Sehili wasn’t a cyclist until he went travelling around Southeast Asia and realised, he wasn’t made to be cooped up on a bus or a train for hours at a time. He bought a second-hand bike for $100 and started riding. He’s hardly stopped since.
Initially a cycling courier in Paris, Sofiane was encouraged to start entering the world’s gnarliest bike packing events, like the Tour Divide in the United States, and the Silk Road Mountain Race in Eastern Europe.
Now, aged 43, Sofiane is a three-time Silk Road winner and a legend for his unconventional approach to some of the world’s hardest bike races. Happy to forego sleep for days on end in his quest to win, Sofiane dropped into the Just Ride studio to tell Rob and Eliot all about his career to date.
Staggered by his dedication to the cause, Rob and Eliot were bowled over by Sofiane - and we’re sure you will be too. You don’t want to miss this chat.
If you want to get in touch with Rob and Eliot, email podcast@redbull.com, or hit them up on their socials.
We’ll be back in two weeks!

Переглядів 4,7 тис.14 днів тому
Here on Just Ride, we love bikes. All of them. So we thought it was about time we devoted an episode to them - and their future. Rob and Eliot are joined by lifelong bike designer and founder of RIDE Studios, Craig Dent, to chat about the evolution of bikes and what types of bikes we could be riding in the next five, ten, and fifty years. How much of a role will electrics play? Will everything ...
Finding the MINDSET FOR WINNING! Finn Iles in Just Ride S2E12
Переглядів 14 тис.Місяць тому
Aged 14, Finn Iles took the world of mountain biking by storm. He won the famous Whistler whip-off, after a social media campaign (#letfinnin) swept through the community. That was the start of a Hollywood journey that saw him destined to reach the top of mountain biking. Winning almost everything before him in the junior ranks, his ascension to the top of downhill seemed assured. But not all H...

We’re sure that most of our Just Ride listeners will know Eliot Jackson as the bike racer, the commentator - or both. But in typical Eliot fashion, he has another string to his bow that he doesn’t like to shout about. Four years ago, Eliot formed Grow Cycling, a foundation based in his home city, Los Angeles, with the intention of bringing mountain biking into town. Late last year Grow opened a...

MTB would have evolved faster if we had copied MX bikes rather than road bikes. There was the technology to make spring forks/shocks with decent damping back in the 90s, BOS made amazing suspension for the Sunn Chipie team. There's still a lot of areas where modern bikes can improve. Durability, servicability, less standards, better handling/geometry for all price ranges. Ebikes will get lighter and have more range and power.

These guys keep discussing the evolution of bikes, or that bike technology is so "new".... but the Tour de France athletes of 1903 were able to traverse 1,980 miles on what was already an almost perfect design.... Anything since then has been very very small tweaks.

Road bikes are a completely different type of engineering. A DH bike vs a road bike are VASTLY different machines obviously.

Call me a purist but motors don’t belong in DH racing. I mean, where do you draw the line? Motors in XC? Road? The bedroom? Call me old fashioned but some things should be left purely to a human’s own natural physiology

Agree but only for DH racing.. Imagine having a DH bike but not having a car, then the motor becomes your best friend, and for endurance races it could mean that we could see the "Le Mans" of MTB 🤔

2024 and we still getting flats...gotta be a foam out there that would completely eliminate it. Every ride checking air pressure, hoping sealant is still fresh enough gets old. Moto has it already in Mousse

This interview was fun to listen to. Lael's joy is contagious. I only found out that she is riding around the world last night! The story of her winning the Trans-Am was great! Or hearing "the most beautiful music coming from the bicycle." lol I wonder if it's her great attitude that has her remembering things fondly, or the things that give her a great attitude. I wish I had that charisma!

What a great listen! I was at MSA for Finn's win, I think everybody was holding back tears but they were too bloody excited! Our whole crew was rocking Look at the Time shirts so when he got a "Look at the Time!!!" it was perfect. Grew up racing with Stevie and watching that win was a really tear jerking moment for the legacy of Canadian downhill in general! All three of you boys keep it up!!
