Were The Detroit Lions Cursed? The Curse of Bobby Layne
In this video, I explore the horrendous Curse of Bobby Layne. Bobby Layne was an NFL quarterback for the Detroit Lions in the late 1950s. After winning multiple championships with the Detroit Lions, his off field antics proved to be too much. The Detroit Lions traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was said that when Bobby Layne was cleaning out his locker, he uttered the words "The Detroit Lions will not win another championship for another 50 years."
Immediately after, the Detroit Lions have been a failing football team. For Lions fans, the curse was becoming as real as the air they breathed. Plagued with injuries, early retirements, referees ruining seasons, and failure to find any victory in the playoffs, this team certainly seemed curse.
In 2022, Peyton Manning alongside, actor Jeff Daniels, did a comedic ritual to break the curse of Bobby Layne. Immediately after the skit, the Detroit Lions started to win football games. They won two playoff games in their 2023 season. So is the curse finally broken or are the Lions forever doomed by Bobby Layne. Enjoy!

This man. . . I would follow him to the gates of Hell, let alone into a Super Bowl run. He is a rare caliber of person, who - when subjected to the callous nature of a mercurial business like the NFL, handled it with grace. Picked himself up by the bootstraps, and did not succumb to despair or to petty resentment, but embraced his new home and the people of Detroit. He sets an example to aspire to, and continues to show a level of class and character that is a rare thing in the NFL. He will always be my Captain.

we turned things around after the team seen dan cry after the minnesota loss. They didnt want to let that guy down. I truly believe they seen that and how much he cares and they dug deep. Then the momentum started. One after another and im a firm believer if we would have made the playoffs two seasons ago after just missing out, we would have won the superbowl.
