Milo jokes about teachers playing sports with the kids, but the student-staff basketball game charged admission to raise funds for prom at the place I work and the staff was NOT going easy on anybody.
Glue Factory needs to make a tour of Christmas-themed North American towns. Leavenworth, Washington and Frankenmuth, Michigan and Niagara-On-The-Lake.
The salience of Scottish ethnicity in Canada is baffling to us South of the border, for whom the most pertinent Scottish personages are Shrek and Scrooge McDuck.
The Great Gerlando "George From Canada" Sciascia was a big wheel in the Bonnanno family until he got murdered in the Bronx in the 90s. Riley is dead on.
The Welsh, a people subjected to English domination for seven hundred years, are precisely the right tutors for fans of a team as fundamentally abject as the New York Jets. And they probably could have done some good work with erstwhile Jet's coach Rex Ryan's known foot fetishism.
The upper blue mountains in NSW would give Townsville a run for their Cult Capital of Oz title
Townsville?
@ my mistake. I heard one thing and typed another. Toowoomba.
ok but riley is right about tenors in barbershop specifically

"We're not going to talk about the European aniolithic" aww :(
I live in Michigan and we have a town here called Frankenmuth. It was originally founded sometime in the 1830s by "German Religious Refugees". But sometime in the 1970s or 1980s a large part of the town was remodeled to be like a Bavarian village as a tourism bid. But biggest of all: Frankenmuth claims a massive Christmas themed store like in Niagra-On-The-Lake called Broner's. And Broner's is huge, all Christmas, and they worship the founding Broner like Kim Il-Sung. They got his portrait all over in decorative framing and his personal philosophy surrounding Christmas. It's insane. They advertise all over the state. And once you are done there you can walk around the Bavarian village of Frankenmuth and buy overpriced fudge and eat overpriced fried chicken because half the state goes there for the fried chicken at one of two highly Bavarian restaurants that pretend to be haute-culture (they still serve primarily fried chicken, it's not different from KFC to be clear)
Belgium is a myth. And if Belgium actually existed, there wouldn't be a single Belgian it it. Only Flemish and Waloons. Like how there are no Spanish in Spain.

Isn't the soft sign (Ь) kind of like a diacritical? It changes vowel pronunciation after all.

I actually know the difference between Frau and Fraulein. Historically it meant married vs unmarried, but in German second wave feminism, instead of popularizing some equivalent to Ms. like in the US, the cultural shift was to making Frau mean all adult women. So calling your date a Fraulein would get you side eyes.
Yeah. From my experience it's now used mainly for older "fancy" women, or in a patronisingly cute way for young girls.
Oh kind of like Madame and Mademoiselle in French except the shift here is 10 years old at most
It’s criminal that Olga wasn’t there to experience this
I knew somebody who went to a prestigious french clown school and every story about it was just a bizarre mix of whimsy and some lord of the flies ass shit. Like apparently how they graded performances was the instructor just had a big drum that he would start beating if he thought you were boring and you just had to leave the room for the rest of the session.

I like how everyone in the room was probably thinking "there's gravity on the moon, you wouldn't just float off into space" but no one wanted to step on the riff. 💀
And you've done the equivalent of this in the comments
"a pet that requires you to have other pets" reminds me of when I was looking into owning a bearded dragon and all the guides were like "yeah here's what you can do to stop crickets from chirping, but if you do that, then they won't breed so you'll have to keep buying meal crickets"

It was Vidalism in Lithuania and Latgalia
These are just terms from neopagans / video games. People back then probably just didn't have a definite name for their beliefs, as opposed to organized religion.

I have snakes and I will say the goth gf thing is accurate.
Snakes can be the best animals to hug because it's rewarding when they trust you enough to not be slinky noodles

@@the_newt_nest also, snakes that live in trees genuinely just give good hugs.
I think the serial killer van probably owes a lot of Bittaker and Norris, who drove around Southern California in "Murder Mack." The world would have been a better place if they had gotten into reptiles instead.
Are we proposing the Moonseatic League? Lunar Luebeck?
1440 is too late, Riley. Jogaila converted to Christianity to secure the hand of the Polish Piast princess and unite Lithuania with Poland in 1386. Come on, man.
Polabian is a Slavic language which is/was spoken in modern-day Germany. Like Sorbian or Lusatia. It's nothing to do with Lithuania.

Are clowns another gender that neutralizes the gayness? or is the new gender extra gay?
To say the Flat Stanley books are "about" anything is perhaps a stretch of the term "about". Things happen, repeatedly, to and around Flat Stanley. Is the book about those things, or indeed Stanley himself? Who can say

I think it's delightful that I was aware of most of the comedians on the pod, but Ed being a guest last time actually made me a patron. He fits into the vibe so perfectly, despite not being a comedian, because he's funny, and also he laughs as hard as any of you.
