8 Signs of Functioning Addict: How to Identify | Struggling With Addiction
Not all addicts fit the stereotypical image of someone who is visibly struggling with their substance use. Some people with addiction can maintain a semblance of normalcy in their daily lives. They may hold down jobs, fulfill family responsibilities, and participate in social activities, all while using drugs and alcohol.
This ability to function "normally" can make it challenging to identify the presence of addiction, both for the person and for those around them.

Why People Deny Being Addicted to Weed?
Переглядів 13 тис.4 роки тому
The THC in marijuana interacts with the reward system of your brain and dumps dopamine, much like harder drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine, or even heroin. This leads to a sense or feeling of euphoria and stress relief. Weed can also interfere with the formation of memories, and the cessation of it may force an individual to deal with a trauma or other event that weed helped them to forget...

I'm struggling to get off weed in the past. i could go a few months off, but now I'm really having a hard time. I'm 42 and really wanna quit . Plus, it cost 1000 plus a month to smoke . Any tips on how i can motivate myself. It's also a lonely thing to smoke daily .
Anyone who says it isnt addictive is either braindead or deep in addiction themselves
Because they are already committed
I know people right now who will smoke it everyday will skip school for days and sit in the stairwell smoking weed

I watched the father of my children addicted to it so much he couldnt eat or sleep without it, after 15 years, I had to divorce him. Now my new roommate is highly addicted to it. She does the wake and bake several times a night, constantly during the day and waking hours. She is spending about $200 a week yet complains when I ask her to pay for her half of food money. I hat to kick her out, but I cant take this much longer
The rise of t h sheeee lmfao 🤣
Nobody calls it shake except people who got ripped off 😂
Because it really did make them dumber 😂 I still cant let go of how many people were so addicted to it or lost so many braincells they did it while working a driving job & wonder y they got fired with the van smelling like a burning weed farm offending everyone else who worked there not to mention driving under the influence is illegal 🤦🏿♂️😂 hell Elon cause he couldn't wait literally almost lost his whole company for a joint 🤣🤣🤣 if that dont tell u it makes u stupid what will?
I started smoking marijuana about two years ago and for some reasons I found myself smoking alot for the past three months. I've been smoking weed everyday, at least three times a day and sometimes even more than three times. I was completely dependent on it and so i decided to quit about one week ago. I watched a lot of videos on how to quit marijuana and googled a lot of stuff about that as well and honestly it got me so scared I thought it was going to be a big struggle for me too,I struggled with sleep and appetite on the first day, and on the second day I saw some improvement. Well, today is my day 6 and everything has been perfect since day 3, i don't crave it anymore and i don't feel any withdrawal symptoms anymore. YES,I WAS ADDICTED but IM SO HAPPY I DIDN'T STRUGGLE TO QUIT. Also I feel so much better about myself now. Im trying to make it to a year so pray for me y'all ❤️😂😂
are you still smoking ?
What if parole orders some people and not others?
Them carts fucked it up fr
I have a really good advice since I started to smoke at 13 yo and now I have 25 yo, but I can really say I'm not addicted at that. Well, in the first place I never was the guy who smokes everyday, I always tried to control it and that's my advice: Don't be a ramdom smoking person, pick some days of the weed and smoke those days, then don't in the rest of the days. When the weed it's over, only buy when you really feel you need to get high and relax, don't do just for fun and any time. In the end all I wanna say is, don't let anything control you by choosing doing it all the time, cuz that's what happens if you dont schedule the thing. I mean, today is saturday, I'm working at home (with graphic design) and I'm not even thinking about weed. I arrieved here cuz I was checking a cigarett process smoking of tobbaco. Hope it helps someone, tho.
his mind rotted from that green 😭
I need help coming off of Suboxone.
Honestly a bit of a hot take. I feel like weed being addictive is all in the personality. Ive never used weed as a coping mechanism. My life comes first and weed comes second. I smoke maybe once every 2 days. I can quit smoking weed and be completely fine. In fact there have been prolonged periods of time when i didnt simply because it wasnt there and i was unintersted in getting any for the time being. Ofc if u use it everyday and it helps with your anxiety and depression and its all u and your friends talk about, yea it would be pretty hard to quit. Thats kind of obvious. You cant compare something like weed to the withdraw of something like benzos or heroin. Until i see weed destroying families and tearing people down to doing the most grimey shit just to get some. Im going to say weed is relatively okay. Its not the best idea for everyone. But dont sit there and call weed addictive just bc u find it hard to quit. Its possible. Its a mental game. Honstly for alot its not even mental. I mean it makes u relaxed and kinda tired. Idk about you but i can do that without weed. Go tf outside if ur bored bro lol.
Dude I have a friend that HAS to take a crack rip from dabs like every hour. Came here to understand what is going on. Just saying people can become addicted.
@@internetpointsbank yes since I've made this comment I feel I forgot the importance of seeing the difference between dependence and addiction, in all fairness, yes you can be addicted to weed but I find only a SMALL % of those people are actually dependent on the THC itself. Ur friends could likely quit today and have nothing but a few shitty days before he feels normal again and maybe even better. See with designer drugs like coke though, then you have a serious problem. There are simply too much drugs that can ruin people's lives, for weed to even be in that category. Not everyone is a responsible user and will take it to extremes. They neglect all other aspects of their life. This can be with any addiction. It's all in the personality. I smoke weed with everything I've stated in mind. I can get stoned and live a happy life. Your friend either feels comfortable about what he's doing and if he's not ruining himself then fine. It's dabs. If not then eventually he'll realize and he'll quit or cut back on it. And all it may take is some company to help him. That being said 1 dab an hour sounds expensive and I hope ur friend Is doing alr with himself.
Finally, the truth
Homegirl looks like she’s high 😂😂😂
Even though weed isn’t physically addictive, I do agree psychological addiction is very real, especially if you naturally have a lazy or addictive personality from the start. As a former stoner, now turned social smoker, I can at least admit weed is not for everyone. - obvi it’s no where near as dangerous as hard drugs such as alcohol, cigarettes, coke/crack, heroine, meth, ect… or any other drug that can literally ruin lives, and has 0 health benefits whatsoever. Ik weed in of itself cant ruin ppls live, it doesn’t kill anyone (as long as you’re not driving or doing anything stupid while high), def notta gateway drug (that shit is a bunch of propaganda), and can provide tons of health benefits for many people. THC isn’t always for everyone, nor are the benefits always long term (still swear by its safer then pretty much every drug out there, and hella safer then big pharma BS lol 😭) I used to smoke it every day as a way to treat my anxiety, but now when I smoke, I only get more anxious. Weed used to help me embrace my creative side, and enhance my spiritual side, but now I legit can’t say the same. I just get anxious now and it doesn’t hit the same that it used too… all I do is panic on weed now. So another thing I’m trying to say is, sometimes things that can once be helpful in the begging, might not always stay helpful in the long run. - also I do still smoke weed here and there, but only at parties or with friends socially/causally. So if I do panic, at least I have friends by my side to talk to and feel better + the party setting makes it more enjoyable lol. I also still occasionally smoke while in the studio making music, which music also prevents any panic settings, but I’m def not smoking every day alone in my room no more!
I agree 100%. The prolonged use of cannabis leads to impairments of the nerves and of the consciousness, to indifference, listlessness, irresponsibility, psychological disorders, behavioral disorders, personality change, intellectual and emotional confusion, as well as to anxiety, depression, and the inability to live. Of course, all these forms of appearance are vehemently contended by those who are psychically dependent on it. Cannabis is not as harmless in its effect as its advocates suppose and maintain, for it is a narcotic that gradually causes permanent damages to the psyche and consciousness and also causes permanent impairments to the nerves. Unfortunately, many people are ignorant in reference to this fact. If anything it should studied for it's medical purpose only. There is more than THC in the Cannabis plant. Cannabinoids, CBD, and Essential oils than can be isolated and used for a variety of ailments.
Weed is significantly safe then alcohol and tobacco so Im going to continue to use it I just wanna know the effects of this
How about you don't do any ? If you need to have a substance to have fun then you have fried your own brain already
@@eggy6745 who tf said anything about needing weed to have fun. Just bc it is fun doesn't mean anyone needs it. Most people who need it aren't doing it to have fun. How about you just let people make their own choices?
I wanna smoke weed with u baby!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just thought I had a heart attack.
Lmao it's addictive as fuck. I'm battling it right now, I want to quit but I'm smoking a bowl while looking at these kind of videos. I was in denial for a while too. So yes, it's addictive.
Still smoking?
@@Zillionblake as we speak :/
It's your relationship with the substance you have to question. THC is not bad or good - it is what it is -depends only on yourself. I've been stuggling with it 20 years ago and for me I know I have to be careful with it so I just don't use it any longer. CBD oils on the other hand give me some pain/anxiety relief and I should take that more often but I won't, dunno why. Still got an addicted GF which won't make it easier to have a healthy relationship with the plant, or her, since I am always triggered by it 24/7.
@@ChiefThanos A strong mind is subjective, you don't know me, I don't know you. Cannabis affects people differently, genius. All I know is that I'm not denying that marijuana is addictive, and hey guess what.....that's okay. Cannabis is allowed to be addictive. You clearly don't have a problem with it. So it shouldn't matter or make a difference 🤘🏽
cause if its addictive then so is oxygen so is any food any liquid anything you desire
Smoked for about 15 years, randomly decided to stop, never had an issue or problem quitting, my friends never even had an issue with it so idk I think it's just all in your head anyone that tells me they overcame an addiction to weed I laugh because I've taken care of people that have actual addictions that are more serious and these people always seem like they want praise because they quit smoking weed, yeah tell a recovering fentynal addict about how hard it was and how you overcame weed 🙄😮💨😑
@Keithesson (Beatmaker) lol ok, and how much experience do you have exactly when it comes to weed? truth is I got older and mentally said "eh ill pass" I still smoke yea sure, but try ever couple months to a year is how often I smoke now when I stopped it was cake yall are just babies I've seen real addiction and real withdrawal before bunch of weak babies that just want to say they overcame something without actually doing anything
iv been smoking just close to every day for the past 10 years and my body has become dependent to the point if i stop i will not eat anything for over a week and be sick throwin up everywhere. tbh id rather keep smokin, its not rlly an issue till i stop lmao
Wait wtf....just 26 subs?
people need to treat it like any other substance... sugar, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, thc & cbd, they're all substances we can generate dependency. I am actually not an active consumer, but I will use from time to time, since I turned 21. The key is to respect the substance and being ready to stop it's abuse as soon as you catch yourself falling that path. I've never felt any problems quitting weed and staying sober but it is because I treat it with much respect, unlike sugar and caffeine which I built a dependency long time ago.
I’m addicted, I admit that but In no way is it dangerous, it has been proven a million times that it does not shorten your life and no one has ever died from it ever, I don’t plan on quitting either it has changed my life in a positive way
I don’t think so bro
@@Luca-vm3zj yeah I know so, I went from living in a trailer never going outside to smoking every night and going outside all the time to hike and hang out with friends

It is bad for your body. Anything that let's off sulphur dioxide and/or carbon monoxide when burned is harmful to your body(cannabis let's off both of these chemicals when burned)
It is bad lol. I have friends who smoke pot and I swear, they make the dumbest decisions. They smoke at work. They smoke when they go home, suffer from low self esteem, forgetful with things, lack self awareness. Brain damage, too much shit.
It is bad for you man. Smoked for 2 years nothing good comes from it. It is bad for ur mental health. Also bad for your lungs
@@derekhayter4879 it is bad addictive makes u slow as f skint a weed smokers r ignorant tramps where im from
As a user, weed can definitely be addictive. If I have it, I'm going to smoke it until it's all gone. It takes me a few days to get back to normal but I feel much better afterwards. Nevertheless it's still much less harmful than alcohol in almost every respect. On a side note and having not lived in the US for the past 15 years, I noticed the increase presence of the phenomenon "vocal fry" which the lady in the video has - typical among aspiring educated women - usually white. Thank god German speakers here don't have this. It's really annoying.
"It's also called weed, shake, ganja, and reefer" 🤣🤣🤣 not this side of the century babe
Anyone who says it's not addictive just can't stop taking it. The whole internet is full of people who got really bad withdrawals when they wanted to quit. And then there are always some addicted potheads in the comments who say it's not possible to get addicted to it. You better not take advice from those people. TRUST ME!
I’m addicted and I’ll admit it I just don’t care and It’s too late to quit
I used to say: I can stop whenever i want i mm not addicted. That was 5 years ago. I finally am able to quit now. I’m on day 5 of not smoking pot and i’m planning to never touch it again. Pot ruined great opportunities for me. And it will do the same for you if it doesn’t make you productive.
"anyone who says it's not addictive can't stop taking it" It's not addictive and I have stopped for years at a time after doing it for years, your statement is stupid
@@curtisclaire4341 That's you. That's not every other person who has smoked as a HABIT for years and is surprised and embarrassed to admit that they find it really hard to quit. Cannabis is not as addictive as most other substances, hell, it's less addictive than sugar, but it doesn't mean it can't form habits and is easy to leave for chronic and dependent users. The real difference between cannabis and other drugs such as nicotine or alcohol in terms of addiction is that you won't develop a permanent chemical dependence for it which can last decades. But it is a psychoactive drug and because of that, the brain which has no natural self control, wants more if it, because it really enjoys those feelings that come from getting high. Since you're using yourself as anecdotal evidence, I'll use myself: I quit 5 years ago, actually, and it was tough, I nearly failed 10th grade because of weed. I was convinced I was not addicted and that I could quit at any time, but "not right now because I don't want to". Few years down the line, I started drinking. Alcoholism runs in my family; my mother, her mother and father and her grandfather were all alcoholics. I ended up with 2 bottles of whiskey a week, in 12th grade. Eventually, 2 years out of high school, I'm getting sick of feeling tired and low-energy all the time. So, I stop drinking and now only have one or two once in a blue moon or at a party. Moral of the story: alcohol was easier for ME to give up as a habit than weed. If I was using myself as anecdotal evidence, like you, I'd say "alcoholics are being dramatic". But I'm not going to do that becuase I'm not an inconsiderate idiot.
You're absolutely right. I see it all the time.
2:58 did she just say "dangerous substance it is" Dangerous? Really I know it's not harmless but you saying it's dangerous just shows you're speaking from the outside POV as if you know.
