Who is the conductor on this recording please? This the most dramatically compelling performance of this aria I have ever heard.

Best line is "No! I cannot believe it! That were torment too keen!" presumably when it's dawning on him that he might be in love with Billy. Enigmatic music at that point.

Looks like this is Robert Ryan singing Claggart. Not sure what the listing of Langdon is for. But I've read his book and want to hear him, for sure.
Robert Ryan is the actor who played Claggart in the 1962 movie--he's not a singer. It's Langdon's voice on the recording.

I'm reading Langdon's book "Notes From a Low Singer". This is the only recording of him on UA-cam. At least it's a good one.
