This video is a combination video showing both my first impressions and long term review of the Überleben Dursten kuksa style camp cup. This mug is constructed of solid wood and is a great traditional piece of bushcraft equipment that is still super functional and good looking. Highly recommend this product from the Überleben line up. Check out their other products as well. Until next time, sta...

Bushcraft Fire Starting
Переглядів 1138 років тому
Here I start a fire using birch bark, wood shavings, small feather sticks, and a firesteel.
Ummm, ummmm ummmmm
She is a real awesome beauty 🔪
what size is that u have
Awesome. Just snatched one at a pawn shop for $75 out the door!
Just a suggestion learn the proper way to use the Ferro rod before doing a review.... You are only really hitting 2/3 of ur available rod pull the Ferro rod don't push the striker I'm just trying to help hope it work better for you
Why did you get the scandi grind rather than the full convex grind? Why the tool steel vs CPM3V? Last, when I went to their site it directed me to another person’s site for having the firesteel done but the person has a year’s backlog and is not currently taking orders. Maybe this is a change since your purchase??? Thanks
Lots of umming there mate.
I got one last week and it is AMAZING !!!!!!! Love it!! Throws a lot of great sparks and catches kindling fast! Great company in. Oregon and I had mine on the east coast in three days !!!
The sheath is glass reinforced nylon. All Cutco knives have a FOREVER guarantee, which means if you damage it, you can get it replaced. It's also American made in Upstate NY. Weighs 9.52 oz. The blade is 440A High-Carbon, Stainless Steel. It costs presently $218
Ummm....ummmm. Good review
All Uberleben products are machine made in China not hand made. If you want a true Kuksa then make your own or order it from an actual artisan Kuksa maker.
Geeezzz for real? I almost bought this from REI and their website says "The luxurious craftsmanship of handcarved natural hardwood..."
@@DaltonUber lol
Um.....
Is that the 1/2 or 3/8
Been a long time since you’ve made a video. Why do you think this video got so many more looks than your other videos?
Suggest that if you’re not sure about something, you don’t try to fake it.
I have this knife, got bored during some field training and we were throwing knives into a tree over and over. I threw this thing over 600 times, mostly getting it to go in but sometimes hitting it on it's side. Handle never loosened, blade has held it's edge, and the finish hasn't worn off. Great knife and I highly recommend it. Case and point, it's coming with me on my next deployment!
I do BELEIVE the juittwine is there to open and make a small birds nest To blow a fire or to just use as tender
Thank you so much for the review. Fast forward 2+ years later, they now have an even larger one. 1/2 inch × 8 inches long. I ordered it last week; hoping that it will arrive later this week. I have seen many reviews on this brand of firesteel and everyone seems to prefer it. I am sure that I will be pleased with it as well. It should last me the rest of my lifetime. Thanks again!
Beautiful knife and great review. I have a classic on the way and your video made me even more excited about it.
What pack are you using?
Love your channel love your vids not a fan of the knife though I'll stick with my bk2 or esee 4
Spit it out JR
beautiful knife... they don't take custom orders.....:(
Uberleben not Uberlieben. Lay-bin not Lee-Bin
Holy crap dude how many times can you say "um"? Literally made me stop watching.
Well done and detailed review. Cheers!
do not varnish your cup unless you want to crack it use extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil olive oil is awesome barely heat the oil and I mean barely and apply many times over and do not worry on the taste of the oil for a while it will disappear with use however to make it last forever keep applying once in a while after it gotten saturated
hani karam heat oil lightly and apply generously with hands? Multiple times in one sitting? The instructions are vague
are you still active. you haven't posted a video in a while. One critique....that is a LOT of gear you have for a day trip. is the size of the pack just for exercise?
Hi Can you let me know where did you buy this stuff? cause I bought 4 from this website : www.uberleben.co/ but the result is quite different. The box outlook is not triangle but a cube, and there is no any sticker of product information outside. The kuksa itself is fine, however the workmanship is a little bit rough.
Thumbs up man! I especially liked how you used basically a half fisherman's knot to secure your fire steel to the loop in the sheath! One criticism though: your extreme overuse of the word "um" or "uh" is very distracting to the listener and hinders the review. Not sure if you are aware, but in this 11 minute video you managed to say "um" a total of 138 times! I pay attention to these things because public speaking was something I had to work on as well and as one teacher pointed out to me once, you don't really know how bad a verbal tic is until it's brought to your attention. Anyways, I hope this helps you improve. Good luck!
If you haven't used it why is the blade fucked up?
Good job Sir.
Um um um um umumumum um um um um umumumum.....
I've really been trying to get into bushcraft in Connecticut. Any advice on locations where I'd be able to hike, start a fire and camp?
not much on state land.www.ct.gov/deep/cwp/view.asp?a=2716&q=325032&deepNav_GID=1621depends on where you are at and how far you want to drive. you know CT and the crazy rules here.
how do u remove the dangler
It has a little pin that you unscrew so that the shackle comes undone. Hope this helps!
Really good review im looking to get one of these, by the way is there a wait time for the knife?
Thanks for the support! As far as I know, Adventure Sworn does not have their order books open right now, so there is a wait time in that they are only selling knives as they make them and put them up for sale. To check for sure I would check their website or contact them and see if they will be opening their order books anytime soon. Either way, I definitely recommend purchasing one of their knives. Hope this helps!
Best English Yew handle I've seen on an Adventure Sworn I've seen so far. Very cool!
Thanks brother! It truly is a beautiful piece of work. The folks over at Adventure Sworn do a phenomenal job. Glad you like it! I am a lucky and proud owner ;) All the Best Will
they aren't taking custom orders right now and have one version of the mountaineer available right now. frustrating as hell.
Yeah I feel your frustration brother. I got my order in right before they closed the order books. Keep up to date on their insta and other accounts because they often put up pretty cool one off knives for sale. All the best and hope you get one you like. Regards, Will
ended up going with AA Forge. very happy with what I ordered. 52100 steel, scandi grind, 4.75 inch blade, handle is ironwood with a green micarta bolster and liner. being built as we speak.
Ah good call my friend. I have followed their work as well and one of their knives will likely be my next purchase. They make some gorgeous knives. Let know how you like it!
will do. this is going to be an agonizing wait.
Biggest advice I can give you for your channel is to use the word umm less. I used to do that and didn't even realize it. Not meaning to be negative at all.
Hey man! Yeah I really appreciate the feedback and see it only as constructive criticism. I have gotten that comment before. I filmed a bunch of these videos all at the same time so I am not able to correct the issue until I get back to filming in about a month or so (videos until then will have the same issue). Thanks for the support and for the advice. Regards Will
nice knive man congratulations..
Thanks brother! I truly appreciate the continued support! All the best. Regards, Will
Ooooh, it's ugly. No, kidding. Perfect.
Nice review! Keep it up! I look forward to seeing your channel grow!
Thanks for the support brother! I really appreciate it! I hope you'll subscribe and stick with me as I grow and produce more content. Its comments like yours that remind me why I do all of this. Thanks again! Regards, Will
Thank you for the review and I'm going to order one and craft a wooden handle for it! Hang it from your waist or neck and it doesn't matter if it is too heavy for your kit ! For $20.00 it will last for a year if your using it everyday to purify water etc! :-)
The wood handle is a great idea! Shoot me an email with a pic of it when you finish it because I actually would now like to do the same thing! And you're right, I carry it in my pocket to keep the weight out of my pack and I absolutely never regret bringing it. You won't be disappointed my friend. This thing is a beast and sure will be well worth the $20! All the best brother. Regards, Will
Awesome choices can't go wrong with GBA! Plus, I love that Trail Boss!
Sorry for the late reply... I love the GBA so much. So beautifully crafted and functional. And the Trail Boss is a beast too... bummed it got chipped so investing in a new one is in my future I think. Thanks for the continued support. All the best brother. -WIll
Well done, the Skyline is a true classic can't say much wrong about it. Also, glad to see your speech is much better!
Hey Man! Thanks for the support. Hope I can only get better from here... we shall see! Regards, Will
Nice knife dude. How often does Adventure Sworn open up there books for custom orders?
Thanks for the nice comment brother... Adventure Sworn had their order books open for a long time, but closed them indefinitely as of late fall 2016. I slipped this order in right before they closed them. They said it would be easier to keep up with demand by just producing knives of their own designs and putting them up for sale. I do not know whether they will ever open their order books again, but they very well might... that would be a question better directed to them. However, if you follow their Instagram, that's where they post most, if not all, of the knives they make that go up for sale on their website, so you could grab something that strikes your fancy there as they come up. Hope this helps. Thanks again for the support. Regards, Will
CT Bushcraft Shoot. I wonder if they found the custom orders too overwhelming.
That's the sense I got from when I was talking with them shortly before they closed the books. Doesn't surprise me though given the quality of their knives. They are still putting out beautiful knives, just with features and materials that they choose. I wouldn't lose hope that the books won't ever open again though... anything is possible!
CT Bushcraft I hope they offer convex grinds every now and then.
I'm sure they will... I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to them either to see if you can work something out. They are a great group of people and aim to please their customers :)
Thanks for the video! By the way, creative knot for the firesteel lanyard, mind if I share that technique down the road?
Thanks for the comment and the support... seriously could not be happier with this knife so thank you guys for that as well. Also, feel free to share the technique for the lanyard. I was pretty happy with how it turned out and it works super well. I love sharing my ideas with the bushcraft community and also welcome any opportunity to get my name out there :). Thanks again guys. Cheers, Will
you're bushcraft knives are amazing and you use beautiful leather on you're sheath i myself like to use a horizontal sheath... i would really like to see you add this option , it's the only reason holding me back because if i buy then i need to find someone that can build me a horizontal sheath for it....please would you think about adding this as a choice when buying you're knives...
Beautiful hem,Wonderful knife, How did you do the cord of the pickle or came in the set Congrats on the video (like1)
Hey Brother! First of all, thanks so much for the continued support... it really means a lot. Are you referring to the cord on the firesteel or the cord on the knife. Neither was included and I added both myself. I'd be happy to tell you about the one you are referring to. Cheers, Will
What a beautiful work, you made it to the face.
Couple things, first, thank you so much for purchasing one of my SAT's I appreciate it! BTW it's not a novelty, it's meant for tracking your pace! Now from one UA-camr to the next, I just wanted to say, you say um a lot. I had the same problem, just try to spice it up. Not trying to criticize, just something you may not even notice.
Well I hadn't noticed but now I do and can hardly listen to myself speak! Not sure what you mean by spice it up but I suppose I'll try. Also I explicitly say they are pace beads and I am familiar with their use and purpose... I know its not just a toy. Thanks for the feedback
Haha, I am glad I could help! What I me is try to use, ah, or break in speech where you say nothing instead of um. I did hear that, and it's okay, so long as you like it that's all that counts!
Great skills brother gets a sub from me atb mike
Thanks so much Mike! Really appreciate the support. I'm always trying to improve my skills and I was happy with how this trip turned out in that respect. Keep in touch. Regards, Will
