NW Georgia Thanksgiving day 2020 deer hunt
Переглядів 1,8 тис.3 роки тому
We normally hunt with archery equipment all season long, typically with trad bows only. It’s been a tuff season so far and we have never had the opportunity to hunt on Thanksgiving morning. So we set out to fill a tag and a freezer with some venison.

That was your decoy passing. 9times out of ten there’s a buck following her that just left the country especially if it was a old big fella. I found out years ago during rut to let the doe,s pass on and sure thing there would be a nice buck close coming in and sometimes three or four but the big one is going to be first but sometimes the big one will be lagging behind the younger bucks and sends them on ahead. I’ve got more bucks like this than anything. I’ve got one huge 12 point on the wall that came out following a doe just after shooting time. He’s a good 180 class which most of these Georgia bucks is 150 to 180. Your daughter was proud of that doe and that’s good and it does give her practice. Great video. I loved hunting with my children

I have several different bows, I tend to switch it up quite often. I shot an Omega Longbow mostly this season. It’s a 64” bow 50#@28” draw. My youngest daughter does shoot a recurve bow but it’s only a 30# bow. She’s not quite ready for hunting with a recurve yet, even though she’s a great shot. She’ll hunt with a crossbow or rifle for now. Maybe next year….

Nice shot! I remember when I went and caught my first mess of fish as a young boy. It was on a lake a few hundred yards behind our house in the country (Enid, Mississippi). When I got back home, I skinned the fish with a spoon like Daddy showed me. That night Mama cooked the fish for us and said, "You're becoming a good young man - bringing home the meat!". You know, right about then I felt about ten feet tall. 😁 Regardless of the game, it's nice to supply a good, wholesome meal for your family. Congratulations, Avery! Good job to Dad for taking you hunting and keeping you on the blood trail to your game.

Head on shot is usually not a very good shot because a lot of times you don't get a exit wound and it's hard to track them I've shot them like that and they barely bleed they bleed internally and it'll kill them but they hard to find

@@whitetailtraditions9516 so that's why u bleep out your location? private land that nobody is allowed to hunt? I mean if you said we at jeds land is everyone in ga supposed to know where that is? sounds more like public land that anyone could hunt. looks like some spots on forestry as well. no need to hide location if it's private land only you can hunt. any way I just took a guess nice doe good luck this year.

It’s a small piece of property we have permission to hunt 38 acres, we’ve had problems with people asking the land owners to hunt because they found out we were hunting there. The land owners are family and they don’t want anyone else there. That’s why it’s muted

Congrats on your success ! But, early on I had the chance to read the wonderful old book, The Still Hunter, and learned that, when still hunting, it's best to SLOWLY move from tree to tree ( as the tree breaks up your outline ), survey the area slowly with eyes only, watch and wait, and then move on to the next tree. Also watch for sticks and other objects that could make noise under foot and, if you make noise, stop and don't move for a minute or so. The object is to leave behind the human habit of moving quickly to get from one point to another and adopt a woods mentality of waiting and watching. Observe deer as the usually move like that in the woods. What they look for is motion and motion spooks deer !
