    Hi. I just installed a similar unit on my zero turn (doesn't have the blower). The issue I'm having is the left bin fills up first, the middle a little and almost nothing in the right bin. Any ideas on how to fix that?

    I had to find a local niche and focus on that. My niche is firefighter gear. I was trying to make dog collars and wallets when one of my friends on the FD hit me up about a radio strap. Now that’s my bread and butter.

    Good video. I live on three acres and own a B2650. I have a 1000" driveway and use my three point 60" snowblower all winter and the land plane in the summer. I have a grapple for logging my property (as well as my 40 acre hunting land not far away), the 60" roto-tiller for our green fields, the stump bucket for everything from removing stumps, digging holes for new trees, and I have even used it to dig a trench for a French drain and a trench to divert my gutters to drain to my pond. My brother lives down the road and bought the BX with a center mower deck and wished he had went with larger B with a center deck. In the summer the 2650 spends most of it's time at my sons where he uses it for his huge garden to till and he even has a disk bedded for the three pt. This is a highly versatile tractor!

    It’s been some time now you made this video, have you modified anything to make the mower stop throwing out all that stuff? First year with my more. I have a little different setup than you but the same problem. I also mow the same way you do to get everything picked up. And I was going to use a mud flap to see if I could deflect more of it back into the mower.

    • @OneLonelyPlumber
      @OneLonelyPlumber 9 місяців тому

      I didn’t do any modifications to the mower deck. I ended up selling the tractor. The bagger wouldn’t fit my new tractor so I sold the bagger but I did plan on adding a mud flap or something like your idea. I definitely think it would help. It was so annoying. Thanks for watching and I hope you get it figured out. Happy Thanksgiving

    Dude…. For only being 7 months in, and selling what sounds to be a minimal amount of products, you’re about 10x or more better equipped with tools than I am…. You have a dedicated shop and some seriously high dollar investment type productivity based tools when you’re still trying to figure out what type of leather to use on your projects. You have a sewing macuhine. You don’t need a sewing machine. You could easily hand stitch everything you produce without negatively impacting production. Hell, there are legit established leather rafters out there who sell products in a dozen or so countries and stock remade catalog items to service incoming orders, and have sold millions of dollars worth of merchandise over the years who hand stitch everything and don’t own a sewing machine. You’ve got snap presses that cost hundreds with all the dies and supplies etc. they give you a little steel anvil plate and a setting tool for free when you buy a box of snaps…. If you’re cranking out hundreds, or even dozens of small products to fill corporate orders, then yes tools like these that can be seen as assets, are useful and worth the investment if they cut production time in order to turn profit. But if you’re using these things because it’s easier when knocking out single products now and then when there’s a cheap or even free manual alternative, you should be “paying your dues” and doing these things by hand. If you don’t have the base skills to do things by hand, you’re going to have a rough time if you’re only able to produce product if you use the fancy expensive equipment. Hell, I make a lot of the tools I use. They may not be quite as refined or perform flawlessly but they get the job done. And I know that honing my skills and reaching a level where I can make something beautiful using something ugly and homemade, I’ll always have that skill and won’t ever be reliant upon fancy shortcuts. Don’t overthink and slow down…stop getting ahead of yourself.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I'm still playing & just getting to know leather, the tools, what goes into making the final product, etc. It is a VERY time consuming activity! And not cheap! One thing which I did not hear you give much thought, is your market or target customer. Its a given that a LOT of people will not be able to afford anything big & hand made. So perhaps, aim at a more niche market. Those bags you showed are beautiful and worth a significant amount to someone. A huge amount of defining a business is finding the clients who can and are willing to pay for your creations... All the best!

  • @jack8162

    It took you 4.4 hours per bag, so if it cost you, say, 60 dollars in materials and you wanted to make 25 an hour(pretty low for a leatherworker but livable), a random formula of doubling material cost plus 10% would give you 132 dollars plus your 110 for labor so you would sell that bag for 242 dollars if you wanted to live off of that(round up to 250), which is actually a low cost for a quality leather bag that will last years. You have to sell the value, not the product. If someone wants to buy something, they have to see the value in it to even consider it. So you would sell them a bag that lasts 15 years for 250, or they could spend 50 every 2 years on a bag from the store that needs replaced more often and doesn't look as nice and they will end up spending 375 for worse products that get thrown away over the same amount of time. Spending more on quality things that save money in the long run is why people buy leather goods. The people who scoff at the price don't understand the concept of quality and buy cheap everything their whole lives.

    Does burnishing the back side of the leather with this stuff and a piece of glass cause the leather to stretch? As I have a piece I'll be making where I'll punch slits for pyramid spots and cut it out, dye it. And then burnish the back side of the leather with this stuff, but the leather can't stretch any as then the pyramid spots wouldn't fit in the precut slits. I'd be cutting the slits first instead of after the piece is all dyed. Though I might could just dye the backside and then burnish it. Then punch the slits from the top and then dye the top part later and cut the outside out later.
