RavensDagger is one talented author that happens to be one of the most prolific authors in the litRPG and webnovel space. He is known for his masterful tellings of cozy fantasy stories that mix in top-tier humor with near trademark wholesomeness (though he certainly has some dark stories as well), while generally enjoying writing ‘strange’ things. Behind the wholesome or dark or strange stories...

Maxime J. Durand, AKA Void Herald, is the author of numerous popular webfictions. An author uniquely capable of the lighthearted and humorous (Vainqueuer the Dragon, #4 Best Completed on RoyalRoad), the grimdark and serious (Underland, Kairos), and everything in between (The Perfect Run, #2 Best Completed on RoyalRoad). Virtual Webfiction Conference, Panel #3 with Jeremy Bai

Jeremy Bai, aka Deathblade, is one of the most beloved figures in the Chinese webfiction (a fiction serialized on the web) industry as it exists in the English-speaking world. His famous translations of I Shall Seal the Heavens (10 books and 1614 chapters) and A Will Eternal among others have played no small part in first popularizing the modern Wuxia, a more traditional Chinese Martial Arts Fa...
Virtual Webfiction Conference, Panel #2 with InadvisablyCompelled
Переглядів 4,1 тис.2 роки тому
InadvisablyCompelled (IC) is the unlikely author of the webfictions (a fiction serialized on the web), Blue Core and Paranoid Mage. While he had always been a consistent hobbyist writer, IC never dreamed of being a successful writer after once looking up the statistical likelihood of becoming one. When his story Blue Core became an underground hit on the popular webfiction platform RoyalRoad.co...

David Verburg, a.k.a. ErraticErrata, is the author of the webfictions (a fiction serialized on the web), a Practical Guide to Evil and Pale Lights. The conception for a Practical Guide to Evil began nearly a decade ago for David as he pondered a much simpler story about a Black Knight and a White Knight. It eventually evolved into the sprawling fantasy epic that has garnered thousands of passio...
Hello
love this!
I love that paranoid mage even got like a webtoon/webcomic, and i also see some other RR fictions ending up as webcomics
OOO I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS, OMFG!!
IadvisablyCompelled 👑 you're a Legend sir for writing Paranoid Mage! ✨👍
Finally, more from Alexander Wales on youtube! This man is a legend. His stories "Worth the candle" and "This used to be about dungeons" are incredible, definitely worth your time, if you like rational fiction, fantasy, role-playing games, or simply stories of well-written characters. I haven't read his other works, but I've heard very good things about them. He also co-hosts a podcast called "Rationally Writing", which I highly recommend. Thank you Alexander Wales for your time and dedication to your work, your worlds are an incredible gift. I hope you can continue writing for a long time, but with what you have done so far I consider myself lucky to have found you. Congratulations!
Keep doing these.
Thank you! We'll be hosting another convention on October 14th, 9 - 11 AM PST, and you can RSVP for the live event at fictopia.org 🙌
I enjoyed paranoid mage
Very cool! Thanks for uploading!
What happened to conference panel #4?
Hello Damascus. Panel #4 is not posted due to a request concerning privacy from the panelist.
But his face and name were used on the advertising for this. Some people on reddit were saying he's basically a shady character so it sounds to me like he doesn't want a record of whatever he said.
Hi Pax. We would like to note that we hold both the character and professional aptitude of all the panelists, who generously gave their time to speak freely with the attendees, in high esteem.
MoL - Mother of Learning by Domagoj Kurmaic was monetized by charging patrons upon release of a new chapter (usually once a month), there was no deal with Amazon before it was finished and it even stays for free on RR after it is on KU. It was and objectively still is the best way for everyone involved. It is I believe not possible for Maxime because of his ambitions to create his own brand of multiverse media. As a former patron of Max I now appreciate how Domagoj Kurmaic, Ruffwriter, Mecanimus, Erratic Errata and others treat their own stories and fans/patrons. SO WHAT IF YOU PUBLISH THREE CHAPTERS EVERY WEEK IF THE WHOLE READING EXPERIENCE SUFFERS FROM SALAMI READING, QUALITY DROPS, AND YOU AS AN AUTHOR GET BURNED OUT?!!!
Hi Youghurt, While we appreciate your engagement and you are clearly a passionate and knowledgeable patron of web fictions, please remember that every author has different needs and goals and work very hard to both communicate with and give back to the fans that have enabled them to make a living - however lucrative or not - from a craft that they love. Nobody who makes it as a writer treats it as just a job, after all.
@@fictopia3487 that's a very polite answer. Huh
Nobody treats it as a job.... I would love nothing more than to agree however certain burned out or even just straight out cynical authors that milk every chapter with no passion in their writing exist.
Maxime is pumping those fictions out like Ford model T however their quality is dropping as well.
Kairos is the prime example of it. Also it's worth mentioning it was written during the heavy COVID.
Did you liked perfect run
@@GRINDSETRN I liked it until the source of powers was revealed. That's the part where Romano(?) makes friends with everybody (including his own power and the big power) and it becomes very anime-ish.
@@youngyoughurt yes but i don't have problem with it being animeish. It was like that from the very start but still enjoyed it very much
@@GRINDSETRN I like anime that's well written and I hate anime like Fairy Tail that's constantly using hyperboles to make every new threat seen as more powerful and the only reason why mc wins is becauss of love and friendship
I just wanna say that the interviewer is 👌glamorous and if you ever read this just know you’ve prospects in the modeling industry
While I think you're right about your reasons I think part of the reasons your book so popular right now is a lot of people feel abused by their government right now and they don't trust it and people are vibing with the main character of paranoid mage
Deathblade you are a top G
Woooo!
Always love to see this sort of interviews.
❤
Amazing
❤
P.M. is prob one if my favorite on RR
Thanks for the video! I've been following IC since the start of Blue Core, honestly great content. <3
Awesome one Fictopia... This is a good one
I love Paranoid Mage, not so much Blue Core, but I'm your Fan boss man...
Tftc!
Wow, what a treat this is, a webauthor doing a web-con-panal, this is incredible! What an idea, getting a peek into the why of his world,
😎
Cool to be able to watch a panel of our book-jesus
Neat interview! Surprised to hear IC gets a lot of folk saying that Callum is a 'murderhobo'. The vibe I got was that he would only act if someone was interfering with 'mundanes', because they can't protect themselves, then otherwise he acts if people are targeting him or people he cares about. My impression of the whole magical world in Paranoid Mage is that none of the mages or vampires ever checked if they had to fully exsanguinate a human victim. Like if they could just live off of blood packs? The thought never occurred to anyone, because they fully write off anyone non-magical. Could be wrong on that though, iirc they survive on moonwell essence or something from their portal world(?) and when on Earth they replace that with blood? So if someone with any amount of pull in the magical world started to try to negotiate vampire survival without killing 'mundanes', Callum would divorce from vampire politics entirely? Unrealistic hypothetical though, all considered.
they have to replace the moonwater with vis, i think blood is just how they get it (they mentioned it last chapter). the real way to avoid killing people is just to buy excess vis off of mages. mages get more funds for research, vampires get to live, everyones happy. vamps are just prideful and dont care about mundanes, so why pay for something they can get for free?
It depends on how much vis the vampires need, and what it takes to get it. If they have to get it straight from the mage then it would require the mage to be there and trust the vampire. So you might have capacity issues. That said I think you're correct that it's mostly the vampires don't want to pay for it when they don't see anything wrong with killing mundanes, with the added caveat that the mages can mostly ignore the vampires if they have them feed on mundanes, and people like being lazy.
It's mentioned somewhere in book 3 when Callum says "just don't involve non-magic peeps" (roughly translated to), and chester comments that it excludes the vampires entirely while also mentioning that "THE VAMPIRES REQUIRE LIFE BLOOD / LIFE ENERGY/ SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF VIS from the "mundane" to replace the moonwater effect. So vampires can't actually sustain themselves on earth if they solely rely on "mundane" blood. On the other hand if they require more VIS than a mundane has then a quick, easy, and effective replacement would obviously be mages... Since they are human, have more VIS than mundanes, and can basically live eternally. But ofcourse since mages consider themselves above everyone and mundanes are just that easy to acquire without any objections this far, vampire probably took the easy way too ... I think... Although all of this is my conjecture and none of my reasonings are specifically mentioned in the book so far.... I would like to see a few MORALLY GOOD vampires in the book though 😊
I am here inadvisably compelled straight from rr!
