It's great to know what alcoholism is, but it's better to know how to help someone regain their health. You don’t have to give up alcohol. The alcohol will give you up. So that is the beauty of this treatment.” Dr. Kshama Metre

With all due respect, if ALCOHOL{ism} is a disease .... it's the only disease that's bottled, sold and to the public. if it is a disease, that is the only disease for which the government taxes you ,(medically related matters are normally non-taxable like prescriptions, medical fees, etc.). if it is a disease than how do men / women who go to jail suddenly recover from it? They do not get any alcohol there. Liquor is a curse to any home. It causes children to see nakedness that they are not to see and adults to be in a drunken stupor and asleep when they ought to be up tending to the children and family. If you have trouble with alcohol what you need is to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. After that, you need to then submit to the Holy Spirit and deny the flesh and it's sinful desires. Only through the power of God can you be set free. Victory over alcohol is not through Alcoholics Anonymous (although they are well intentioned) and it's unknown 'higher power'.... but only through God Almighty who can be known personally : His Name is Jesus Christ. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be FREE indeed." John 8:36

Alcohol is not a disease. It's a drink. The drink gets taxed and bottled. Alcoholism is a real disease. Alcoholism only grabs some people. It's passed down genetically from parent to child. The brain is changed before the first drop of alcohol is drunk.

Alcoholism is not a disease. It is a learned pattern. Tell people it's a disease and you'll think you can't quit. It's not true. We can quit with some effort on our own and the staying sober is where we need to work hard at it. If we believe it is a disease we think,"I guess it is impossible." And give up.

It becomes wired to be more important than survival for all of these in the same way in same brain circuits etc

you do not have that single part for the fact of one thing one thing so many people do not understand or are mislead buy stupid people like you who do not tell the truth since you make money off it. The truth is its not a Disease. First off a disease is not something you can chose on your self alcoholism is something you chose you chose to have that drink. what it is is a addiction. and the human body and mind is built to have addiction different people have different ones and the biggest one is eating. in all my years of study I have found its not even as bad as people think. in fact its ben proven over and over that alcoholism is coused buy one thing depression or that part of the brain. see when you are drinking or smoking or doing anything that make you feel good and takes away from the pain you have in the body or from something such as depression the feeling of being down then the body wants you to keep that feeling as it sees it as a cure so it knows hay this thing you gave me makes me feel better I want more of that so you keep it up. but in every study dun when a perssion has ben seen and cured of their depression most times just from going and making friends they do things with in real life they have cured the depression and quit drinking. and if you notice what has happened to most addicts they started drinking more and more do to someing in their life that made them depressed. now can you consider depression a disease yes but its curable in most cases and controllable in others. I my self was a addict from the age of 15 to the age of 28 and I started drinking at age 8. I my self have gone threw everything you could think of to quit and new at times when I drank I did not want to keep doing it but it had a hold on me. I then started reading up on it and ways to get rid of it. well it cam down to 2 things one was that I was a outcast in life and never hade many friends growing up the other was the lake of a proper childhood. after learning that my dr helped me to deal with stopping and found not only was I depressed but I was drinking to deal with my bake pain from a deformed spine. she started to give me pain meds for the pain in my back meds that wear not addictive in a horable manor then told me to start setting up a limit of how much I drank and that if I hade troubles have someone I could go to who could stop me from buying more and getting drunk. she also told me to fore my self to make as many friends as I could and explain to them what was going on and ask them to be their fore you when needed. well one of my friends did that my brother moved in with me and I would go out and do things with friends and my borther every day all day to keep my mid of drinking. doing this I started drinking less and less and one day I quit. it was hard at first I had knights wear I would go nuts but my dr gave me sleeping pills to deal with this a limited them only for the first so many days to sleep better and break the sddiction to liqure but not get addicted to the pills then she had me start taking over the counter adds witch helped and once I was not drinking as much she sed get a hobby to keep you busy and do that hobby ant time you feel like drinking if if things get to bad go to a friends house or call them and ask them to stay and help stop you from drinking. well its ben 8 years now and I have not had a single drink. I have read a lot on this and I have also used some of what I have read to quit other things such as eating meet and over eating.
