Before Hurricane Milton Food forest tour.
As Hurricane Milton pushes closer and poses more a threat, I made a quick tour of the Florida food forest. This could easily be a much longer food forest tour, but I have to get a lot of stuff done in the food forest ahead of Hurricane Milton.

growing tropical fruit trees in containers. Here is a eugenia caipora. Here's just a couple of reasons I grow tropical fruit trees in containers. Portability - the tropical fruit trees you are growing in containers can be moved around the yard, porch, or patio to find the optimal sunlight exposure or for protection from weather. Trees in pots are also easier to overwinter indoors in colder clim...
A must-have for ginger lovers. Mango ginger
Переглядів 915Рік тому
Curcuma amada | Mango ginger is my must-have plant. These were very delicious and beautiful. Curcuma amada, also known as mango ginger, is a plant in the ginger family native to the Indian subcontinent. It is closely related to turmeric. Curcuma amada has mango-like fragrance, hence the name mango ginger. The rhizomes have a pleasant sweet aroma similar to mangoes. Curcuma amada has traditional...

Loved the tour. Nice big fingersops. Take care my bro
Oh no, wait a minute. You're giving me heart palpitations. I just propped up my namwah bananas and took off all but 2 leaves to help mitigate wind swaying the stalk. I hope I didn't kill my nanner rack. I hope you come through fine. 🙏
Do you have pups around your banana? I've seen videos where people cut all the leaves off the plant and rely on the pups to feed the mother plant. It's been my experience, though, that once I cut off the leaves, progress is halted.
So many different amazing fruits. I’m always push my zone.. Do you have anything that would grow in 8b?
Different types of pawpaw would work there. Mayhaw trees and crab apples. Different types of myrtle. I think jelly palms might work there. idk on that, though. Texas black persimmons would work there.
@@Floridafoodforest. Thank you, your yard is astonishing. I have my trees in rows and am starting a new food forest and it’s been overwhelming trying to figure out placement. Your videos are going to help a lot. Thanks again and be safe.
Thanks for the tour, stay safe!
Thank you. I will certainly try to. 😀
Beautiful, stay safe! Are you selling cuttings from your giant passion fruit, you have some amazing fruit trees … from Gville
Thanks, will try. Not currently selling cuttings, perhaps next year.
Why are you making a video when you have no experience ? Does your ego need a boost ? Don't waste our time.
Dang this may be the answer to another bush I was wondering about. I’ll have to go get some footage soon and plant id it and post to my forage channel!! 🤙🤙 thank you for the knowledge
*_GOSLINGS!!_* 🐥🪿🥬😍🥰
Idyllic ❤
Goose homing device 😊
They make more bows than they make clubs. The habit that these grow in it would be virtually impossible to find a block thick enough and straight-grained enough to even make one
I’m going to try.
Happy growing
I ordered 5 cuttings that should arrive any day now. I'm excited to get these growing 💜 happy growing 💜
What a beautiful duck ❤
Thank you.
Lol at Diabetus 😂😂… great video! 👍🏾
Lolol right on. Thanks 😁
It looks nothing like thosecat the grocery store. U r the lucky one.
I apologize I wasn't notified of this comment. Yes, it is significantly better than grocery store.
Is he not poisonous? Pretty color.
Nah, these ones are pretty good to have around.
I'm in Florida I just started growing horseradish so far so good
Awesome. I hope it continues to do good.
It's not this a tree that changes sex at a certain age ?
To my knowledge only by grafting.
Sex doesn't change but many diospyros genus can have parthenocarpy (fruit set without pollination), fruiting males ( male tree can spontaneously have female flowers on certain branches) and females with ocassional male flowers ( thus pollinating itself but the offspring will still always be XX)
Mystery solved! Great vid and nice showcase of Bellamy Trees 🌳 Also congrats on the banana rack
Yep, solved 😅 Hopefully, it brings a few more people to their pages. Thank you
Seeds? Are you saying that you get the little round globes I have seen below the flower petals? They are usually white I think and black seed from what I have seen. I have dozens of katuk bushes, many growing 8 feet tall at least that are 3 years old. And yet, I have never gotten even one seed pod. I get both of the types of "flowers" on the leaf stems, but the ones that are on the end, never grow the "peas" on them. I'm in Zone 10a on the more southern part of the west coast, so they are evergreen here and grow like crazy without me paying them much attention. But no fruit. Any ideas?
Oh, I don't know. I've never done anything too special for mine, and that's one thing i like about them. They grow without much work. I've been trying not to let them go to seed because there will be all sorts of seedlings popping up.
Love it 😍
Steelwarrior here great video I wish I had a bigger yard so I could grow a few fruit trees but I have a tiny yard
Nice looking nectarine. I actually visited Aaron ( Rivers of pavilion) at his place in Tampa and bought a couple of trees there. Nice fella
Yeah, Aaron is pretty nice guy.
Those look great! I need to get my deer problem under control before I plant any more fruit trees, they're ruthless. 😢
Thanks. Cuban oregono helped me with deer.
@@Floridafoodforest. Really? I'll try anything at this point, thanks!
Yeah. I heard that from someone years ago and tried it when I moved to this property.
I said that same thing to my Soursop and it produced fruit this season. So you are North of Tampa? I got excited when I saw “nectarine”, but not sure they would do well this far South, next to mangos it is my second favorite fruit.
I'm glad your Soursop listened to ya. Yeah, I'm in Webster Florida. The sunraycer is 275 chill hours. If that helps
@@Floridafoodforest. So that would be a no then, down here in Eastern Palm Beach County, we have hardly 10 hours it seems of chill. Darn! But we have tons of mango cultivars. :)
Nice sentry 💂♂️
Peaches are looking way happier than mine here in Pasco. Check out Banana Fuel fertilizer for the bananas!
Thanks for the tip on the banana fuel. I just placed an order. Do you know the variety of your peach?
@@Floridafoodforest. They are Florida Kings. Still in the pots from last year, so I bet that doesn't help
Fun update tour Kyle! You definitely have a lot growing and flowering. My zuccarini is pushing flowers now too. Your pawpaw are do far ahead of mine. Nice caterpillar tickle lol
Thanks, G. I needed to be saving the pollen from the pawpaws. 😒 Have you tasted the zuccarinii? The caterpillar and me are homies. Idk what it was eating, but it was beefy.
@@Floridafoodforest. I haven't tasted it yet but hope to this year.
I have cute videos of my neighbor’s chickens jumping up to bite leaves off of the moringa branches. I sometimes pull a branch off and toss it over the fence for them but they seem to prefer to pick it themselves 😂
I love their little hopping up to bite fruits or leaves 😁
At least it’s healthy! 😂😂
Lolol
What growing zone are you in? I'm in Panama City Florida zone nine
Webster Florida 9a/9b
@@Floridafoodforest. thanks I'm in the process of planting 12 of those along a fence line 10 feet apart. I hope to make all of my own fertilizer from now on.
What have your experiences with the Sun Opener plant been in the last two years???
It's easy to grow. Frosts haven't bothered it. Likes water.
@@Floridafoodforest. I just got my dried herb in today. It’s steeping in water with blue lotus flowers and it’ll stay in the sun for a few days
How many times do you wáter It?@@Floridafoodforest.
Did you hand raise them? To be tame I mean
I just tried to interact with them as much as I could with food. Same I do with my geese.
Hello mate Is it possible that the black dwarf Thailand and the brice and the best world are the same with different names? Have you tried to root other varieties and they have rooted well, or is the ability to root also typical of yours? I tried to root the red pakistani and it didn't work, now I'm trying it with the white pakistani and it seems to be working better Do you know if the white Pakistani roots well? thanks good job
Hello. I believe they are different? I have grown several types. I had some Pakistan that I've rooted by cuttings. I gave them all away. They just don't produce like the Thai dwarf and I need that space for producers. There was some kind of white mulberry that I tried to grow from cuttings, but all failed.... should have tried grafting them.
What plant is at 8:40? Also where is the rose apple by the way?
Plinia cf spicifloria Rose apple is here. I have one in ground that is hardly even growing and one in a pot that is trying to be a monster.
@@Floridafoodforest.what timestamp is the rose apple in?
I need Fertilized Hatching Eggs
I won't have any hatching eggs, but the eggs should hatch soon, and I plan on only keeping 2. The rest are up for discussion.
I love loquats! My grandma has 3 huge trees and I use to pick them off and eat them every year.
I'm impressed with everything you're growing. I'm not too far away but my land is all pine/oak forest so I'm spending this year improving the soil for next year.
Good idea, that's something I wish I would have done first. Grow the soil and then the plants. How are you improving the soil?
Threatening the pear. 😅
🤣🤣🤣
You have so many varieties that I dont have. Very cool. I have been stung many times by stinging nettles. How do you prepare it for use on your ankle? Do you just take the sting?
I just take the plant and rub it on it. Yeah, it burns, but if I walk it off and keep my mind off it best I can.
Beautiful creatures.
Geese certainly are🥰
Beautiful mango tree. I tried for at least 5 years in Louisiana. Even with protection, winters made my tree unhappy. What Florida county would be warm enough when I am ready to try again. My Florida friends and family would be happy if I relocated there. We are farm people, so it would be fun for many reasons.
Here for it bro 😂. I hope you're doing well 🙏
Certainly a lot better. Thanks, mate. I appreciate ya.
@floridafoodforest8107 that's good news. We need to keep all our fruit nerd brothers around 🤜 🌱 🤛
How tall was it before you cut it? I would like to know because I have let my Mango tree get a little too tall and this looks like a good idea!!
It's a wild trip. I bought a kilo 10 years ago and only used it about a dozen times. Yes, everything looks yellow, a lot of audio hallucinations, and it is a strong muscle relaxing effects. You will enjoy it
Where did you purchase your ducks from please. I bought some locally but they are darker and I would like the lighter color females.
www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/index.html
Are they skittish?
Most were, only a drake and one duck were only with me around.
Mayhaw and dr pepper. Omg lord have mercy heaven.
I actually just now found a caterpillar in our school. Io moth, and so I decided to take it home with me so it doesn’t get injured by the students. Good luck to me, ty for the info
