Either this is gonna suck or it's gonna be okay. It's my first forray combining stills with motion video editing to a vinyl presentation. I'm pretty sure I'll get better at it as time goes along.

Austin City Limits presents Maggie Rogers
Переглядів 2555 років тому
While teaching a Master Class at NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, Pharrell discovers Maggie Rogers - an American musician/ singer/songwriter and producer while teaching a Master Class at NYU. It was her track "Alaska" from the EP "Now That the Light Is Fading" (2017) released that struck Pharrell. Lots to be said here about being in the right place at the right time. Track on this...

Willie Dixon "Willie's Blues" (1958) Side 2
Переглядів 4015 років тому
Excerpt of liner notes from Willie Dixon "Willie's Blues" The tunes in this album follow rather closely the pattern of traditional country blues: a full, driving rhythm with soulful, meaningful solo passages by Dixon in the vocals. His slapping bass furnishes a beat in the background and often his thumb and forefinger pick with such emphasis that you hear the strings bounce of the neck of his f...

John Lee Hooker Free Beer and Chicken 1974

What can I say about John Lee Hooker that hasn't already been said? I'm sure that "Free Beer and Chicken" was my introduction to his mastery and from there I went backwards and then forwards again. And what I found to be true tells me that Hooker created one rockin' album here and brought some friends along for the ride. However, ABC Records exhibited great paucity on liner notes in that it did...

I used to borrow this record from the local library when I was a teenager. I brought it home many times, and was fascinated by it. I haven’t heard it in its entirety in over 50 years. Thank you so much for posting it!

I originally had the vinyl of this but then stupidly sold it all off and I've tried for years to find this version of Long Distance Call but then a month or so ago I remembered it wasn't Muddy Waters but Luther Georgia Boy Snake Johnson. What joy. Happy birthday Dude.

I was a Chicago blues fan back to when I was 13. In 1972, when I was 17 I found Junior's Next Time You See Me 78 rpm in a junk shop. Grabbed it and my respect for him grew and grew. Being a fan of Muddy Waters, Junior Wells and Magic Sam, I never realized his genius until about 20 years ago. Oh, I liked him and all but finally realized how brilliant his music really was. He rates at the very top among all recorded vocalists. Thanks for posting this! great album!
He really was right up there with Bobby Bland in terms of a smooth voice. His Sweet Home Chicago is my favorite version of all time. I like his old Duke Records best. They just have a very authentic funky feel. You can't argue with how high quality this recording here is though. And , although most of these songs were originally recorded by other artists, his versions are very good. How could they not be with that killer voice and classy band arrangements?
มีแน่นอนอร่อยด้วย
He sings real pretty.
Ya, that's what I've heard. Thing is, I never heard of the cat until I saw this work and took a chance.

Thanks for the comment. Easy going and hard playin'.
Nothing like the sound of a record
I agree. I'm still sore about being duped into the belief the the CD came as the be-all and end-all to music listening. Thanks!
