Can you hook the HX3 organ module to a Yamaha YC 73 keyboard

Sounds great! I have to correct you though - although it seems the Legend Soul doesn't have FX send/return jacks, the Aux inputs/outputs of the Soul are configurable in the settings menu to function just as the FX send/return of the Legend. 🙂 So the Soul can also route an external module through to an external Leslie And the reason that you have to push the keys further when in cancel mode is because cancel activates MIDI velocity, which has to use both key contacts of the key to measure the velocity. In "organ mode"/high trigger point only the first contact is used.

Sounds terrific. Although it doesn’t have the real-time controls, the sound reminds me of the B3 sound ROM for the EMU Proteus 2000, which sampled John Novello’s organ. It’s got that bottom fatness.

Hi ! Well, i regret selling my 122 leslie back in 1998 ! cuz now i have a keyboard that my friend sold me ! He bought it brand new in 1979 to play in his Rock band, touring our province of Quebec, Canada ! He took care of his keyboard so much that it s still in perfect shape even after playing in clubs and bars for years ! Now i got this nice Korg BX-3 1979 ! it came with a reverb a EQ and a leslie pedal ! I would love to have a real leslie but i live in an appartment ! lol and this Roland leslie pedal is great ! been a trucker for 35 years and now retired ! have a nice day ! 😎

All the new Hammonds are no good. Where is the music stand? Most of us are trying to read music. Not all Hammond players are Blacks on heroin, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, or committing adultery, playing awful jazz with the same old tired blues runs. How boring! Play a song with a melody and use the foot pedals. Never build a Leslie with a glass tube again. The foot pedal can have a left foot switch for the Leslie fast/slow. The right side of the foot pedal should have a pitch bending switch, like Lowery has. The power cord should have the transformer box on the power cord, as previous recent models had. Just because Alfredson forgot to bring his cord to a gig should not make the rest of us suffer with the transformer back in the instrument. Why? Because it generates heat. When inside the instruments, the heat cooks the fine electronics. An outside transformer box on the power cord allows air to circulate around the hot box to cool it off. Like a computer laptop that is worldwide, the outside box can be used around the world, with any voltage.

I have one of these, paired with a Leslie 3300, and can confirm it is a phenomenal instrument. I could not be more happier with it. Tons of options for customizing the sound too. It's not cheap, but IMHO the level of quality makes it well worth the investment.

I don't know what you're using for microphones to capture your demos, but you always get a really nice and full representation of what your Leslie system sounds like.

Back in the late 90s when I was a high school student with a sketchbook, a straight edge and a slew of Ticonderoga No. 2 pencils, I spent way too often drawing pictures of the ultimate stage for a live band. One of my favorite parts was drawing the keyboard/synthesizer station, including drawing a Hammond B3 organ. (I also liked drawing a synthesizer placed on top of it.) I would’ve loved it if a model like the XK-5 were on the market, just so I could draw *it* instead of the B3, never mind having the mullah to actually buy one.

The viscount stuff has a sheet music stand. All the new Hammonds do not even have a music stand, so I dislike the new Hammond stuff.

It least these organs have a music stand. All the modern Hammond products have no music stand. For students trying to read music, a sheet music stand is necessary. What is Hammond thinking? That we are all virtuosos not needing a music stand?

It’s nice to see a fresh review from 11/1/24, considering the XK-5 came out in I think 2016? Good job. I saw what I think is a Viscount Hurricane 210 in front of the organ, and a Leslie 3300 behind it? Were you using both at the same time? If so, was the Hurricane functioning as your stationary speaker?

You are a great organist, there are not a lot of you left that really have mastered the three dimensional instrument called an organ. Most I see in churches play left hand bass like a keyboard or the church has a bass player so they leave the pedals out. Thank you for sharing and glad you're part of the Kingdom effort.

Well, as for the "lasting for many years" that's where the original takes over as they are repairable and can last as long as one wants. But of the clones to help a schlep the XK5 is fantastic. I still use an XK3c but will move to a 5 soon (easiest upgrade route)
