Definitely prefer a tent.. at the end of the day can be difficult enough setting up with rain and wind. Last thing you need is more work 😅

One downside about a tarp is picking bugs out of your hair and ears and everywhere else lol good for emergencies

You didn't consider setting it up in a Lanshan 2 tent configuration for total enclosure?

you can use a rubber band or tie a knot around the trekking pole handle from the outside so it won't collapse.

Tarp collapses. Total fail... period.

I use the DD Hammocks 3.5x3.5 MC It's perfect for a tarp tent for me and my German Shepard and for a cover tarp on my Eureka Tetragon. I had a seamstress reinforce all attachment points.

Much prefer the silent treatment of an alcohol stove, tho in winter u may need to pre-warm the fuel to produce enough vapor when below 10°C or use a warmer tray with alcohol fuel that u warmed in an inner pocket. Once bloomed ur good to go 👍

... Have purchased many tarps over many years ,, my favorite is the DD Hammock 3mX3m ,, enough to set up dozens of ways and as you mentioned with enough tie loops to create a strong shelter in the worst of weather ...

I had a 2.90x3.50 tarp, which has a slight hexagonal shape, so the center is 3.50, but the sides about 3.00m. Now I got a rectangular 3x5m, for hammock camping. My old one had to be extremely close to the hammock, almost like a shell.

I use the DD hammocks 3.5 x 3.5 it’s great for me and my misses to hammock camp under and if it rainstorms I set up the tarp like a triangle with a pole and it’s a fully enclosed tarp tent . It’s big enough for 2 people and a small dog .

I always prefer a quality tarp because it is very easy to carry.Greetings

I love the tarp for long trips and rain. Tent for short trips where weight does not matter.

With your MacKenzie tarp you can get some tarp clips and make many more configurations. I bought a bag of 20 tarp clips for less than $10 USD. I have 2 10'x10' tarps. One has 19 attachment points and the other only 8.
