Classic American undergraduate….watch current thing on UA-cam called “Campus Reform”….a whole generation who have “taken” a course or two,,probably taught by a 25 year old adjunct and armed with all the confidence THAT brings, approach every news question with an open mouth.
These were the most insufferable philosophy students in my day, but they were definitely a minority then. I am not sure if there is a way to quantify them now, but they are certainly MUCH more salient than I remember.
I guess most people haven't realized that the college bubble has burst, and student enrollment is falling. Ridiculously high tuition, terrible job prospects, lack of academic rigor because we've allowed imbeciles college entrance. Unis are becoming desperate for money due to their stupid building project debt, and bloated administrative overhead. No reason exists for 20-21 million students to be enrolled a degree granting institutions. Time to grow the hell up. A college degree is becoming more devalued by the day...
Hilarious, when the professor starts being sarcastic. The writer of this must have had some real experiences with those types of students. (I think I was a little bit of one myself way back.)
This student would have needed to hear about marxism, but by now he is a lost cause ;)

Oh Foucault. What a cynic.
Prof. Ruthless, Department of Sarcastic Studies
No wonder "John" eventually goes on to work at Subway.
"He is so smart because sometimes he says things even I don't understand" ROFL
But, I want to study philosophy
I wonder if people that are 19-20 find humor in this, or even understand where it's coming from.
Yes, I do. I am 19 and not in the humanities.
I'm 16 and lost it laughing at just the title.

Don't forget overpaid profs and administrators.
A college degree will never be devalued as long as academia exists.
That kid needs to return to Beaver Creek, or wherever he was from, and get some " beaver! "
The only time people who do theory are much smarter than other people is when they're studying theoretical physics...
I think you are confusing being smart with having a talent for abstract thinking.
@@lordbaelish4911 that's like confusing green and verdant

Q: What's the difference between someone with a PhD in French philosophy and a pizza? A: A pizza can feed a family of four.

Hilarious...and true!
🤣🤣🤣
I disagree...I strongly disagree
No True Scotsman with the girl
Pretentious little shit. I loved how the brat, despite his claims of "intelligence", couldn't tell the professor was being sarcastic. XD
Rofl.
20 years to take a phd well that is difficult!!!
No easy mode here bro!!
EpistEMological, indeed.
But I hope he can really get a tenure-track position...
I would have told her to get the fuck out once she pronounced Foucault's name incorrectly...
