My Substrate of Choice for African Cichlids
Переглядів 31 тис.11 років тому
I use Florida Crushed Coral in all my aquariums with African Cichlids. It keeps the PH buffered high which the fish love and has tons of surface area for the beneficial nitrifying bacteria to grow on. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already. Finding Driftwood for an Aquarium
Переглядів 224 тис.11 років тому
Today I went out to the river to find some pieces of driftwood for my 90 gallon aquarium I've been working on. Why pay for this stuff if it's laying around for free to just go and pick up? I'll clean it good and might mount it to a flat piece of slate or something to keep it on the bottom. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already! My Aquarium Sump and Filter Upgrade DIY How To
Переглядів 28 тис.11 років тому
This video is of me switching out my 60 gallon sump with a 100 gallon sump. Since my fishroom expansion the sump has been to small to handle the new water flow and if the power were to go out it would overflow. This new sump is massive and my take on a DIY wet/dry filter on a large scale. Let me know what you think! Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already. Check me out at www.Scub...

Stripping Cichlid Fry (3 fish in one video)
Переглядів 368 тис.12 років тому
Check me out at www.ScubaSteveAquatics.com How I strip fry from my mother cichlids. In this video I strip 3 separate fish to show you how it's done. I even had one jump out of the bowl on me!(ahhh) It's a pretty simple process. Just don't think your going to hurt the fish by doing this. Be gentle, don't squeeze, and just lightly hold the fish.(that's how she jump out of my hand)

Exactly what i was looking for, thanks
By far the best video on resealing an aquarium!
This is my first reseal and this was the best video, especially for smoothing the silicone. You did it several times to remove all the excess and made it very smooth. I will attempt to do it your way.
Thanks Steve. Great video. Fixing to do my 100 gallon that sprung a leak
Thanks for your expertise Steve. You have given me, like so many others, confidence to strip & reseal my aquarium.
Please help me I have a 125 that had bulkheads in it. I want to seal with glass and the holes are about 3 in and my question is how thick of glass do I need and does it matter if the glass patch is round or square ? I have the aquarium safe silicone already and know the patch has to be a few inches bigger then the hole. Thank you
thank you 😊
great tutorial easy to follow and mimic, appreciate all the details!
10 year update on tank? Still holding up?
Which one is better? SELSIL Aquarium Silicone Clear Sealant VS Aqueon Fish Tank Silicone Sealant
Too bad GE Si is now using mildew and mold resistant properties
Winner of the "Just Shut-up And Show Me Already" award for Jan. 2023. Thank you for your service.
I just got a new 75 gallon tank and was wondering, since the reviews were about leakage, would i be able to just throw a large bead of silicone with the existing seal?
Putting tape too far away from seam defeats the purpose of the tape.
Is there any fish you should Not use it for? P.s. nice fish room and great UA-cam name
On the back of the bottle, it says not for aquarium use
This is the best video on this topic, but, trust me, acetone works better than alcohol. I'm in the process of using it and a razor blade to remove a thick coat of paint off my 220 gallon tank and redoing the silicone inside the tank. You can buy a gallon of pure acetone on Amazon.
Super solid video man thanks for posting this. I myself bought a 90 gallon tank for only $50 on Facebook marketplace and need to reseal it as well, so this video gave me quite a bit of confidence to do so.
This is so educational. Thank you
Great job, nice video
When spreading the silicon out with your finger aren’t you worried that you’re taking too much off? Will it not get a proper seal?
I'm scared about scraping the old silicone too hard and damaging the factory seal on the seams
Emulate this people! To the random reader: Remember fish in the Amazon will one day be extinct due to the kerosene dumping of cocaine manufacturing and deforestation. There are many species extinct that we have never even discovered. It hasn't really hit home yet and maybe it never will if we keep on top of our environment but there are clowns running the show where strangers are not allowed to go.
Congratulations on the family. :-) hope you get back into the hobby again. For now I'm sure you're working 80 hours a week 😂. Thank you for the videos that you have uploaded and I hope many here benefit from them. I hope Steve is still doing this. Thank you.
So well demonstrated, thank you
Best video
He said "Back Black-ground" twice! lmao. Nice video though.
The scraping Silicone of sucks a bit lol but I mean it’s worth it I guess
Thank you!
How do you know the manufacturers date on the tank where does it say that ?
The aquarium that i wanted to reseal has a bit complicated piece of glass at the bottom, can't even scrap it. The aquarium Leaked before. Left it for month after feeling helpless, now it's a little bit dusty. I'm gonna get my brother to help
Using this method today thanks
Thank you so much for this video!
When do lemon Jakes start to get their color? I have a couple that I got indexed and are about 2 inches or so maybe a bit bigger but still just clans almost like females
Thank you for this tutorial. I have a 75 that I want to reseal before I set it back up. I’m nervous about doing it myself but I feel much more confident after watching this video.
How long after you reseal it can you fill it with water?
I have a drilled tank with an overflow. How do I do the corner overflow? Same as the corners?
Tape pull @ 10:13! 😂
How is this tank still doing today? My 110 gal blew a seal and I cannot get it replaced during the pandemic. I noticed you did not take the glass pane apart to get the silicone out from between the panes.
ScubaSteveAquatics, thank you for posting this. I figured the process was simple to reseal an aquarium but wanted to see someone do it that has experience. Great advice and great video. I feel way more confident in doing this. Have a great one!
4:11 no u said it right the first time
Thank You
8 years later and this video is a massive help. thank you!
So true and the best of information is timeless or @ least a good reminder of how it was done etc. !!!!!😎
Is it possible to only repair the bottom corner ? Or would I have to completely strip the tank and start over ? I messed up in one spot Edit : it’s a 90 gallon
Silicone 1 has on the back of the tube “not for underwater/aquarium use”
Very helpful! Thanks! I just got a 10gal with a filter, heater and light for $30, bit o enof the seals is missing a large portion and I was wondering how I was going to fix it. This is my answer.
Thank you for the best tutorial, my husband tried resealing 130g tank and made a big mess. I watched ur video so now i can do it for him and make him happy 😃 😁
Thanks this video helped! I followed your instructions and it's my first time took me about a full day to get old silicone scraped and tank cleaned. Going to seal it today once again thanks I had no clue how to go about it 👍
