PARAGLIDING VOL BIV INDIA - October 2023
After the X-Alps 2023, I returned to Northern India in October, re-connected with old mates and forged new ones. It was a very therapeutic trip. The flying in October/November is second to none, but the local people and fellow pilots cemented it for me as a place I will cherish for years to come.

This was a tricky top landing. The sign board was on top of Nieson at 2362. It was pumping on top, so I landed a bit lower. The wind was coming from the NW (blowing onto the cliff). Trying to land on the edge of a cliff and then you just say.. "Hello"...😆
It was surreal. The lovely coupe were just sitting there nonchalantly eating their sandwiches. God knows what they were thinking.
What an amazing adventure. Can't believe that's possible. Spent 2 weeks hiking in Ladakh back in 2006. Such a remote place... Can't think of flying there. But it must be mindblowing. Cheers for that!😮

At the time, I didn't think I had the height to reach the rocks. My worst-case scenario was to land near the small village, hike up from there, and try again (the village was on course line). Luckily I found a thermal off the trees and eventually got enough height to transition to the rocks and get out of there :). This was a really rewarding flight for me as it was quite stable, and I had to be really patient (previously, it was not my strong point, but I had been training for it). There's lots of pressure in a race like this. With hindsight, I would have done some things differently.... for sure.
That rotor was actually being a lot nicer than you deserved.
The wing wasn't ever in it, thank God.

Sorry, yea, I see now. The XCTracer has a feature where you bump the riser or instrument and it changes the screen. It doesn't work so well on the lightweight soft loops. I constantly change between the regular screen and the airspace screen.

Yea, it was rough, I was super tired, my phone ran out of battery and I was trying to keep out of airspace. There was so much going on.

Thanks for your kind words. The second landing caught me by surprise. I sunk out very quickly and didn't have time to. The third, I landed downwind and decided to slide in. I try to always land on my feet, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Lucky to be grounded on water
Yep its easy to happen especially around that < 400 hours mark... you were 60 hours and forgeting the wrap is sort of a given when you’ve done your first SAT... Sounds like a good instructor... BUT.... its pretty unforgivable not reminding a 60 hour pilot he’s got a wrap... i mean it... i think this is what we need from our supervisors...
Looking back on this now, after I have myself instructed, his directions lacked fundamentals.
