I had front row seats on Eddies side of the stage at a Tucson show around 1993ish. The show was absolutely horrible. The whole band was off that night, obviously didn't want to be there. Eddie looked like he could drop dead at any moment, he looked plastered/sick. I don't think Sammy jammed with him at all that night. Also, Sammy's voice was shot, they had his voice almost completely buried in the mix. They looked like they hated each other. It was not a good show at all. In fact, if it weren't for my Van Halen loving girlfriend at the time, I would have left early.

Bullshit. Eddie changed the album cover artwork replacing Micheal Anthony with Wolfie. There was a huge backlash from fans until they changed it back. Trying to re-write history was such a low down dick move by Eddie. The most believable answer I've heard is that the Van Halen brothers were upset Michael Anthony toured with Sammy Hagar after they parted ways. Eddie thought it was disloyal to the point that Sammy had to refuse the 2004 reunion tour if they didn't allow Michael Anthony to participate.

The one thing that wasn’t mentioned, … By the time Sammy left/was fired, Mikey was caught in the lurch. The band was waiting for Ed to get his health straightened out AND get clean. (Didn’t last) With ED having the studio at his home, he could do as he pleases. One of those things was playing the bass parts to any new songs he would write. On VH3, Mikey said he only played on 3 songs. Ed played all the rest. Shortly after that tour, Mikey started touring with Sammy. By the time the 2004 tour came about, Ed decided to cut Mikey off from any royalties and pay him a salary instead of a 1/4 cut of the profits. That was a kick in the groin! Mikey said he took the deal only for the fans. After that, Sammy & Mikey formed another group. Some say Ed didn’t like Mikey using the VH name to help promote his brand of hot sauce. Same with Sammy’s tequila brand. But I tend to believe that Ed & Alex took the band name personally and possessively. When it comes down to it, Alex & Ed are/were common men with average intelligence that gave them a rudimentary but idiotic business sense. Ed was far more talented than most musicians and had he not been hooked on cocaine and booze, he would probably have had a better experience in his band social skills.

There would be no Van Halen without David Lee Roth! Can we say the same about Sammy Hagar? Nope and there in lies thr probs, jealousy..Simply put.

Hagar probably would have been the vocalist for VH if Roth hadn't been there...as was almost the case before the first album got recorded. I'm a Dave fan too, to a point, but he's also too much of a diva at times.

Templeman has stated, VH having Sammy first would've been a mistake. DLR was a perfect fit...Sammy had better vocals, but Runnin w/Devil does'nt sound right ala Hagar

You're not thinking like a pro musician when you're thinking Van Halen, the guitar player and drummer, a family band. If they want to get their band earning again, two previous singers who had their run, they thought get two a lead singers. Look how they kicked Michael Anthony out of the band, paying him like an employee.
