Whether you're family, a fellow adventurer or hobbyist, or just a curious observer who's stumbled upon my channel, I'm thrilled to share my experiences with you. Here you will find a chronicle of my personal journey mostly unedited, mostly for my family to watch. I'm a geek by day but grew up in the trades using my hands and love being outside. I play no video games, I have no simulators, just life and the experiences of doing things. No desire to be famous or an influencer as they call it these days, just recordings of things I find interesting or fun. If you're the negative type please keep your comments to yourself unless they are constructive. I reply to comments as I can and that isn't very often at all.
Every trip I take, every car I fix, and every shot I take, is an opportunity for me to learn and grow, and I hope my experiences can inspire you as well.
Remember, adventure is always out there! Let's leap into it together.

A dry brush painting for mom

Well mom, you want to try to touch up the doors and frames. Here is an example of me doing the exact same thing you want to do. Just touch up the doors and frames with some white semi-gloss paint. Put it on light, brush it out, better to do multiple light coats than to make drips. Only do one door, make sure you like it and if you totally mess it up we can just buy a new door next time I come d...

I actually started the burner on high until the cheese crust started to melt a little, then turned it down to half heat. Toppings are optional, but sure would be nice. there is only about a 45 second pause to let it cool just enough before cutting it into pieces. It's also good to just use the crust alone as snack chips. Try taco seasoning instead of Italian for mexican flavored chips. This can...

It's old, it's not pretty, it's loose and has a few issues but its getting the job done. So satisfying for some reason. Guess office work makes me weird and crazy for outdoors stuff. Working with those hands instead if just typing. insert your best Tim the toolman grunt here.

Vet grade and administered sedation from an abscess, but after a long night he seems pretty normal.
You are the best brother in law anyone could ever wish for
I use this gun, have a good time, don't use the scope though. Works great no matter how many BBs you load. (Yes this can have multiple bbs loaded if you try AND will work similar to a shotgun if you do)
Okay so im 13 can i buy this gun or like my parents buy it for me. What im trying to say is can i just use it?
I don't know what the legal rules are in your area HOWEVER, please make sure your parents are in on any purchase of anything that shoots a projectile. It is important to not take for granted any safety rules and procedures. What you don't know can and will hurt you in the world of archery, bb guns, knifes, rimfire & centerfire rifles. There is no such thing as an accident, only ignorance and regrets! Using anything that is dangerous is completely about the users maturity and ability to receive proper instruction. Proceed with caution and wisdom.
Way Cool 👍
Are those oem wheels?
The rims are, the tires are not OEM sized.
@@flyingfrog2856 can you tell me what size tires are those, I want the setup for my d21 rwd
Geese that barrel thing is uglier that a burnt pig in a blanket! 🎉😂😂
Why the bypass using resistor in the beginning
The resistor sends the same ohm value to the body control module as the hall sensor in the ignition switch that was causing the truck to not start sometimes. Very frustrating to not be able to get home. In the long run I ended up sending it in to have the VATS removed off the computer so even if the body module went bad I'll be able to start the truck.
I just have a question since I just bought it. Why when I fill up with bb it just get stuck when I cock it up?
I'd try filling it a little less full, sometimes that can give you trouble. There are a few other reasons where sometimes it will try to double feed two bbs, but stuff like that is just a matter of trying something to fix it or return it for a different one that might not have the same problem.
LOL
Can you load the pellets one by one instead of all at once through the side?
Honestly I thought that was the only way you could load pellets was one at a time. My son just did this video to help my brother practice some in the garage because he lives 8 hours away from me.

Lab Radar= over priced junk
Over priced, YES! Junk...for what was out there when we got it, I'd disagree. We've had good luck with ours, it has been consistent with it's readings (when comparing to other devices) I wish it had a better menu that was easier to navigate. I wish it was easier to load data off the memory card and put into excel. I wish it tracked further for multi-bc calculations. Today, I'd probably get the Garmin unit...but this one isn't broken so I'm not fixing it yet.
This system is the way to go so you don’t have to lose your suppressor
LE FALTA MONO A ESA NISSAN
I missed the part with the steep hill. Must be another video or something? Or do you just not know what the word steep means?
It's pretty steep...the angle can be seen as I pass my brother-in-law when the camera angle is level and not parallel to the hill as he aims the camera down to the bottom.
.458 win mag is an elephant gun dangerous game round. Good luck attempting to explain to an American Game Warden why you are using this rifle in North America.
The good news is that there is no reason to explain to anyone what caliber is used unless there is a minimum or rim fire rule...this is certainly NOT under the minimum. :-) Seriously though, this is a reloading experiment to try to make it into a subsonic "brush gun" shooting a super heavy and slow round that still has enough power to go thru brush with out deflection. We just haven't gotten around to it yet.
@flyingfrog2856 Using 350gr bullets, you can load it down to 45/70 specs.
Why would the game warden care? (Can you report a comment for stupidity?)
Many guides and other use .458 world wide, and its one of the out of box cartridge with 350-500 grain that is good on moose, boar and much else also. Perhaps one of most versatile big bores of them all.
So this guys dumb... moving on.
Great video, really appreciate it! Do you happen to know the part number for the wiring harness that plugs into the angle sensor?
A little google-foo shows: www.amazon.com/Sensor-Harness-Sensitivity-Rancher-2000%E2%80%912006/dp/B0C1W8873F
that too-light rifle can easily make you develop a flinch. If you're hunting in cold weather (heavy coat) then perhaps 10 pounds of rifle. if you're in a t-shirt then 12-13 pounds of rifle would be reasonable. You dont want it too light lest you detach a retina or damage a shoulder. And use that sling, it helps. Why injure yourself?
So true, heavy hitting rifles can and will develop a flinch if they hurt even if you don't think so (or are trying to be macho). I can't imagine how anyone shoots a 500 nitro or the such. The older I get the more I like muzzle brakes (even though I don't like being "that guy" at the range.
Muzzle break & recoil pad.....
Glad we are only really playing with this caliber. Unfortunately we can't get trail boss any more so our crazy reloading idea for a "brush gun" has gone up in smoke. I'm sure we will keep it for fun and just build another .458 SOCOM brush rifle.
Get a Shock Eater shoulder pad. Really thin, but works great.
No doubt it is effective, ugly but compered to Eric's.
I think we tried these because Erik either hadn't come out yet or weren't available. Our next one will probably be a Cortina made tuner.
😮
0:29 Heater core bypass
GOD DAMN that's a pretty build <3 the barrel and the ability to shoot off a rear bag are my favorite qualities of this one
I sure do love that shirt... Good job Caleb!!!
That's what people have kids for😂😅
For SURE!!! :-)
Guns and Ammo did a side by side comparison between.458 and .460 years ago! .460 crushed the Winchester😂
Yes it does but it doesn't have a whole lot of practical application. over penetration on elephants is a thing with a 460
Only a very, very, few people use the 460 Weatherby Mag today - because there are better calibres to use. The 458 Win Mag is still a very common calibre in use around the world because it works - whereas the 460 Weatherby Mag has all but disappeared!! The 460 Weatherby Mag now exists primarily in the realms of cartridge collectors.
That's like saying they compared a .30/06 to a .300 Weatherby... and the .300 crushed the .30/06. No kidding dipstick.
Was this when they compared .375 H+H,.458WM and .460WM.Remember reading that article.Years later owned 2 of the cartridges. And borrowed mates .460WM.
Great video. As dumb as it may sound doing those seals was the most dreaded thing left that I can think of that I needed to do on my Jeep still and that includes a rear end rebuild. The tool made it much easier than trying to beat them in with a socket, I strongly recommend it as you’re still saving way more than the $40 doing it yourself than if you paid a shop easily $100/hr to do it for you (unless you’re gifted at doing practical things like that but I struggle with them as I imagine I may have messed something up trying the socket method!)
I've picked up some bushings to beat things in since...works so much better.
How do you put the scope on?
Did you find out yet?
@@saatu101 yes
The bb rifle has a rail built right into it. You have to get the right rings with the correct sized rail but they just "bolt right on"
It’s terrible for your four wheeler to do deep mud
Yea, I hate mud...so much cleaning, such a good chance of getting mud where it doesn't belong, and that doesn't include if you get stuck in it then you have to wade thru it to get out then get back in it to hook up a rope to pull it out...etc etc etc.
Weights in the bed may solve that problem
Filling up the tool box on the back helps too. We haven't played in the mud much, but next time maybe some cinder blocks back there for traction.
That’s cruising really nice set up
He is still loving it. First shot repeatability is pretty good on the carbon barrel. Haven't tried a long string of shots over heating it...but 3 shots no problem. (and if you need more than 3 you might need to practice more) :-)
This video brought me to Christ. Thanks dude
Always happy to see another brother-in-christ! I encourage you to be diligent in the on-going work of sanctification (or being saved from the power of sin) because being saved from the penalty of sin is just the beginning. God has so much more for us.
Same as the APA Little Tuna?
Unsure if it is the same.
Factory or reload ammunition? Also now that you moved it back to zero, how does it shoot when you moved it back… I’ve like to know if the tuner is repeatable? Thanks for posting.
We have used both factory and hand loaded ammo. We've been able to change the tuner to a setting for each load and it was very repeatable.
In the process of converting a savage 110 270 into a 458 win mag with the shaw barrell, what stock did you end up using, and any tips on the build? Thanks!
This 458 has been a test bed and has used a Choate stock for the heavy loads, a wood stock, and a plastic stock. I'd stay away from the hollow plastic stocks with anything but the lightest loads. An accu-stock would be sufficent or most aftermarket stocks.
@flyingfrog2856 thanks! I just finished up the build I ended up using a hogue overmolded stock with the full aluminum bed block, only issue I'm having now is I can't get it to feed more than one round out of the mag box, do I need a different follower and mag box?
Are you still using the original .270 magazine parts? A .458 case is fatter and has different geometry. You need magazine parts for any belted magnum caliber like 7mm or .300.
I shot one of these in a Ruger 77..458win mag...350 gr.bullet..😢😢😢 I didn't go back for the 2nd..one.😢😢
Felts your pain! And unfortunately the power(s) we wanted to try to download this with to make it a brush gun aren't being made any more so now we just have an elephant gun in a place with small deer. :-( Still it was fun to shoot and play with.
Watch out for the tree huggers
No trees died in the making of this video & the lead was dug up and saved for another day. :-)
Thanks
Welcome
What is that red o ring? Inside the differential housing? Mine was torn
The red ring is actually just some ultra copper RTV sealant just in case the machine surfaces weren't perfect. (since I didn't use any machining at all...more like lamo dremel)
Are these tuners suited to .22lr as well?
These tuners actually started out in the 22LR competition world and I've used one on a Bergera B-14R CARBON with great success shooting run of the mill ammo in 1/2 inch groups instead of only running expensive match ammo.
It's videos like these that make me appreciate the engineering brilliance behind the Cherokee XJ. Absolutely incredible!
Bang for the buck and XJ is hard to beat FOR SURE! I've done some things I never though were possible in my XJ and have seen 30K+ rigs that couldn't do them.
