Thank you. This is a blessing!
Oh My!! In the NT, the apostle Peter says of Paul's writings, "...his letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:16 One could say the same about PKD, I do believe.
I love the books u share ❤ Thank you
He perfectly describes the power of the world to suck one in to the irrelevancies of this life, often because others are doing or behaving in the same way. And and also the blind inability in ourselves to see what is going on.

crazy how worldbuilding whole worlds of surreal nature was something people would do even 140 years ago. It feels like something only gaining popularity in the last few decades after the boom of fantasy that dungeons and dragons brought. But here I am, adding yet another brilliant case of thoughtful worldbuilding from over a century ago to my growing list. It would seem that the art of worldbuilding has been around for some time, and what we see today is merely the result of the art being popularized as a hobby and pass time instead of a means to an end for writing. While the goal of this story was clearly to point out the flaws in a rigid class system, its clear to me that Edwin A Abbott went well beyond the bare minimum in fleshing out the world of flatland, to a depth one would only expect if the crafting of fictitious history and the implications of ideas was something the author enjoyed doing instead of doing it because its needed for contextualizing the narrative.
Wow, this is one of the most interesting anticapitalist texts I’ve come across yet!
Could fractality be motion through the 4th dimension? Atleast our observation of it?

I love Thomas Merton even though it is not easy to understand. I read this book two or three times. I read The (New) Seeds of Contemplation seven times to understand. Merton is my first favorite spiritual writer. I am very grateful for the video. We have a book club discussion on this book at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in NJ in three days.

I forgot to thank you for posting this audiobook. It’s been over 40 years since I first read it, so it’s an old friend that I’m very happy to spend time with again. Cheers!
This is monumental!
Thank you!
Piece of shit, nothing more What a disgusting writer!! He is using his writing skills to humiliate women and have a condition where the writer is in higher class than women. This reveals writers feebleness in real life!! If writer was unsatisfied with female sex, that doesn’t mean that writer should create so called flatland where women are nothing, moreover share this garbage with public!
Greetings. Is this the original audiobook narrated by Nick Sullivan?

Flatland is like one of those movies that can only be understood of you watch it a second time.
The movie is awesome. If you haven seen the animated movie, search for it here on youtube.
I first heard about this book in school when I was a kid and I watched the movie version in school. Also, in youth Sunday School in my church I remember we watched a video sermon by Rob Bell about this book (which now makes sense after listening to it and looking up the author and finding out he was a theologian, although I don’t remember much about the video sermon). Recently I heard someone mention Flatland in a podcast and I decided to listen to it. For starters, I was a little taken aback by how oppressive the world of Flatland is. It’s like a combination of Oceania (from 1984), the earth from Planet of the Apes, Saudi Arabia and Taliban-controlled Afghanistan (the last two because of how they treat women). I know it’s interesting about the dimensions, but the social science is spot on. Definitely enjoyed this book. Also, shout out to the narrator for changing “reader” to “listener” to match the audiobook format.
Me at the start: wow flatland! I loved that movie i should get into the book too Me like 20 minutes in: fuck this guy for real and actual (Edit: a square, not the author. I know this is a social commentary)
Bad book by creationist

I agree sm lol. I first heard about it in the Gravity Falls fandom so I watched the movie since I found it interesting. Now I'm listening to the book🙂
@@sheilarikas I have never watched gravity falls or know anything of bill cypher but I came across a video about how he was born irregular and flatland is his home dimension. Just finished the movie and now I’m here !
@@princessregime I recommend watching it. It's a good show with a lot of mysteries.
